something kinda stupid with ppl
Eric_Et
ok i duno what it is with ppl but ppl want to save money by buying from players... yet they want to buy for the same price it would be to sell it to the merchant. so for the seller this is stupid, cux why would he/she hold on to this just to sell it at merchant price...
someone explain as to why the heck buyers do this... or is everyone so cheep to fight over 100g or some bullcrap.
Heck if ppl are that cheep they can just buy it from the merchant and not save money... besides they want it and they wanna save money and it ain't like it's taking up space in my storage anyway...
the best example is this:
[user]: WTB ecto 6.5k
[Different user] WTS ecto 7k
when the merchant price is what 8k and to sell it to the merchant is 6.5...so this buyer is that cheep to just SAVE 500g.... Really are ppl this CHEEP

Oh a GW forum
If they sell to trader it makes the price go down and they get less and less for it. It's better for them to sell to players, even if at the same price the merchant would pay.

OP, you don't understand economics.

LOL! it will go down if you sell like 100 to merchant not 4-5
and there are some ppl who want to sell their item at traders price, like selling black dye for 8k when trader is selling for 8k, its just stupid...

the idea is to save money and get a profit from it so really the seller has all the power... it ain't like i don't have the room to keep it... so then whats the point in selling it to the merchant it might lower the price then ppl can just buy it from the merchant then... it's really silly

I usually sell drops at, or below, the merchant price. This is because I have no use for the item and no reason to keep it, so I might as well sell it to another player at a price that will sell quickly. I hate spamming "W T S" for half an hour until someone finally bites. If I can't sell it in a matter of minutes, the Merchant gets it.
Of course, I'm not out to cheat people of their gold. I just like to get more out of the item than the couple of pennies the Merchant gives, as long as it doesn't take me very long to do.

trader sells an ecto for 7K
player sells an ecto for 6,5K
that's a difference of 500 gold, not alot, is it?
Now let's see, for a random Obsidian Armor (excluding the warrior's Obsidian Helm) you need 105 ecto's. That means that you'll save up to (500 x 105 =) 52K and 500 gold when buying from people. I'd say it's worth it. ^^
And note that this is just one thing. Just imagine how much cash you'd save by buying everything (salvage kits, ID kits, keys, materials, etc.) from people for a fairly cheaper price? I think that the difference could be 200/300K

if someone wants to sell his item on merchant price why should he wait to find a buyer? and if he wants to buy it on merchant price why look for a seller?

If a black dye is 7K at trader, he only gives about 5.5K for one.
So people sell for merchant price since they'd get less from trader, and merchant price is the highest they can ask, since any higher and people could better buy from merchant... Why buy at player instead of trader? No idea...

I don't understand why anyone would buy expensive rare materials from the NPC trader because you can ALWAYS get them cheaper from the human players.

I'm so cheap I seperate the 2 ply toilet paper into two rolls.
I buy from human's but sell common items to the merchant. I only sell expensive items to humans. Point being - convenience.
