EDIT: it was a couple of days ago... i'll go try it again now to see if it's fixed you killed bugs that were on the path you arent supposed to go up; its easy to fight them by mistake as two paths merge there.

as for the other, probs made on purpose to prevent doing that; and i dont think you can sneak around the runners, i tried it once, its not possible, they will run once you get too close, even if you stick tot he wall and TRY to avoid them.

and yes, this is fixed, anyone else that says no simply doesnt know how to do it. :|

It's still sort of bugged, but i've gotten masters on it 3 times with guildies. I've done the same thing everytime and only once (done it about 5 times now) did it fail.

To trigger (although i'm not even sure this is major) you have to choose "dunkoro is right, i don't trust you" Dispatch the guides...

Kill the bugs on the left, walk to the path and turn around to the waterfall when he says go back.

Sneek (hug the wall)

Snare the runners and kill them -this is where most people fail

Go toward the boss then turn back up the path where you killed the runners.

That's it, worked everytime.

personally I don't see the big problem with killing the runners that ppl are having. I killled runners first time I went. With no problems at all. This may be that I am an ele. I brought meteor with glyph of sac. IF that helps any groups meteor seems to work a ton better then anything else.

Read the whole thread after doing (and failing) the bonus at least 10 times now, both with heros/hench and with human players.

We could not get the first suggestion (don't go up that path) to update. Waterfall works fine, hugging eastern wall too, and we killed the runners in time. That made 3/4.

The only differences I can find between the successful reports in the thread and what we did, is
1. keep to the left before the first suggestion (we took the right side) and
2. don't wait for the mandragor patrol that comes down the forbidden path (we waited for them and killed them before triggering the first suggestion, not coming even near the path).

But even if that will work, the bonus seems buggy, since not going up the forbidden path should update anyway - as long as you don't go up that path. After getting the suggestion en turning back right away, the bonus stats window does pop up, but it repeats you have followed 0/4 suggestions. I think that is where the bug is, it should count 1 there.

Well, I can say that the waterfall was not bugged for me.

1. I did not go up the path Dunkoro warns me about (got a point)

2. Waited by the waterfall (got a point after I went up the ramp)

3. Stayed east (got a point just after the 2nd)

4. Totaly buggerd the runners, they agroed the camps. No point.

3/4 points total.

So.. I can confirm that the first 3 work just fine and that I suck at snares =p

I have gotten masters on this mission and I have had the reward for awhile now. Like every one else I was only getting 3/4 on the bonus. Then there was a game update I tired again and failed the bonus and on my last try after3 days of trying for the bonus I got the masters reward. I then turned around and helped my guild leader and a person from the outpost whose name I've since forgotten get the masters reward as well. I'm not convinced that the mission is glitched I lean more towards vague wording that confused alot of people.

As far as killing the runners I was able to consistantly kill them with hamstring on Koss and pin down on my ranger.

This clears matters up for me. So the update on the waterfall suggestion does not take place at the waterfall, but later on, up the ramp. I just tried again and noticed I got the 1/1 notice at the waterfall and the 3/4 just before the runners start to run.
Looks like I will have the 4/4 if I manage to disable both runners before either of them reaches his comrades in arms.

Some of the updates to suggestions dont happen straight away...dont take the 1st path(right) then go to the waterfall just let the group of corsairs go by then continue up the steep path hug wall and stop the runners......4/4


i had alot of problems with the runners eventually went rit/ mesmer

i soloed it and used kitahs burden and imagined burden and cast one on each runner..50% slow for 10 secs ..

targeted the 3 heros on the left runner and rest of the group attacked the right runner...

That was exactly it. So indeed, the mission, though somewhat unclear, is not bugged. You just never get the 2/4 update.

We cleared below of all mandragors and parked the group at the waterfall. One went to the forbidden path and back: 1/4.

Then one went to the correct path and back, we waited for the patrol to pass and then went up. No update yet.

We hugged the right wall until just before the runners: update to 3/4.

And then we finally managed to kill the runners in time, which, as some of you said, can be tricky. We did it with rangers with pin-down and Koss with hamstring. Also ele with frostskills. Update to 4/4.

Thanks to you all for helping us straigthen it out!

FYI the mission was bugged. It was fixed about 6 days ago in an uninformed patch. I kept trying the missing after each update and finally one of them solved the issue. The waterfall was indeed BROKEN. And no, you don't need to attempt the wrong path, it works perfectly well without taking it (doesn't trigger the suggestion, but it woks correctly unless you kill the monk boss).

1 - Take the left path (no need to trigger the right one)
2 - Waterfall
3 - Stay close to wall
4 - Kill the runners

mastered it today with Heroes & Hench after trying it for days i suddenly had an idea.

so simple, once you can see the Runners using control stop.

Flag Dunkoro to stay put

Call target for Koss & Jin on one runner and force Jin to Use Pin Down.

then call attack. Select the other one and call attack for the other hench.

For my ele i used Deaths charge, Frozen burst, Glyph of sacrifice & meteor shower.

Since Dunkoro was nowhere near they did not start running after they were Pinned down and frozen and all my hench were surrounding them, as opposed to "normally" when you are still well out of there aggro cirkel.

the bonus updates to 4/4 immediately after you killed the last runner even if Dunkoro has not triggered his suggestion yet because he 's still out of reach.

Hope this helps alot of people having difficulties with this mission.

This bonus, for me is seeming impossible now.

I have tried pin down on my ranger heroe with koss using hamstring and getting the other heanch on the other one.

Can any of you guys who have done this bonus help me do it in-game.

Maybe too much to ask.

Have you tried stopping before you reach the runners and locking your heros on the runners and selecting the skills pin down and hamstring. That was how I killed them everytime I tried the bonus, lock their targets and commanded the first skill they used to be pin down and hamstring respectively.

Finnaly got the masters on this one!

This is what I did.

I got Margrid and set her up with Crippling Shot and Pin Down, apart from other skills.

I got Koss with sprint and charge and hamstring.

I got Dunkorro to have Imagined burden and conjure phantasm.

I (necro/mesmer) took echo and imagine burden, conjure phantasm and other skills of course.

I targetted the one who runs up the hill for the heroes and I went with the rest of the hench.

Prior to attack I cancelled most skills on the heroes other than the essential one for the job athand.

Attacked and got them, no problem.

Hope this is of some use to those who were stuck for the bonus like I was.

All for now ........

I think i found an easier way to get masters

Dont trust first group of Cosairs

Forget the path with no footsteps. Dont even need to go there. I didnt and still got masters

Just go kill the bugs near the waterfall and clear them out

Trigger the path of the Cosairs then Hide in waterfall.

Follow the east wall and kill bugs in the way.

For the 2 runners. Send Dunkoro back down the path a little way. Dont get to close to the runners and trigger the event. Send in the Ele Hero Only and just cast spells on them. They will stand there and take it like idiots and not move. Start on the second Runner with the Ele Hero and when hes at half health or so rush in and kill him.

All done. 4/4 steps done. Go up and around to the top killing the little group of bugs and the go kill the Hunger.

I guess my way is similar to other peoples but this is the way I did it.

You can also use deep freeze and another aoe water skill to slow the runners down. If you are low on magic, use glyph of lesser energy before using the 2 water skills.
