Is Nightfall just laggy?

Hi, is guild wars nightfall just a laggy game?

6600GT
1giga byte RAM
2800+ AMD

And on top of that my connection is a 1megabit/512 upload.
And I am still lagging when i move around and even more when i fight or hold right click and look around?

How can i tjeck my fps if that is possible and are others having same problems as me?

If you know how to fix then PLEASE let me know. Hard to be a monk with those kinda lags!

hmm i dunno. i dont lag at all with nightfall actually. maybe its just all the people who were on during the weekdend? a new release...the server having to adapt to a an entierly new world, ect. i dunno this is just what i think

go to your gw shortcut, and add -perf into one of the lines... it should be the second one. that command will give you the number of polygons currently on screen, as well as the fps and internet speed.

I was lagging even more during the weekend.. But its still there It is so bad that I almost cant play coz its going like 1 pfs for hour!

i have a geforce fx5500 pci, and my fps are still pretty normal.... i have no idea why you guys are getting these problems.

What do you mean ? Just rename into the guildwars Exe file?

right click on the shortcut icon, go to properties. click on the tab on the right. there should be a input box called target. add -perf to the very end of it, outside of the double quotes. make sure to seperate with a space before the -perf.

In another thread, a user mentioned contacting Anet's tech team and they replied that there is a known issure regarding lag and that they're working on resolving it.

Try the process mentioned in the above link and see if that helps.

well i know that my net is very slow, but my fps? thats something new.

This goes along with the 007 disconnection errors and topics here. It is just they need more servers or find the problem and fix it. I think the release hit them hard and they weren't prepared for it.

I already tried that contig thing. I went from 1230 to 1. still lagging.

It seems that the lag issues I experienced were directly related to the section of Nightfalls that I was travelling at the time. Not all areas were laggy...only certain areas. As for the reason...your guess is as good as mine.

Ok recently upgraded my NTL Broadband from 1 MB to 4 MB.

Did this the same time as buying Nightfall.

I thought this would make performance better but has made things so much worse. I MB was good hardly any lag now upgraded so much lag its unbearable.

The lag is now so terrible i can hardly do nothing.

Checked FPS and it goes from around 25 FPS down to 4 FPS regularly up and down.

Do you know if this is a problem with Nighfall or my broadband? Any suggestions you think may help?

I simply lowered my resolution and that ended all my nightfall lag yesterday. I'm running on 40g hardrive, 758 ram, geforce 5200 graphics. I also downloaded the free trial version of diskeeper which will defrag the gw.dat file. Now, that's down to one. The forum for resolving lag is amazing so I would recommend reading through that, it helps.

The results I've had are:

Prophecies I always got over 60fps, silky smooth.
Factions some areas dropped below 30fps, occasional pausing.
Nightfall I struggle to maintain 20fps, frequenly it goes below 15 or right down to almost 0, lots of pausing.

I can only presume they make each game look better, and since my PC is getting old now, it can't keep up. Also 11GB gw.dat ftl.

1. Connection speed has nothing to do with lag, you can have 200 meg. broadband and still get lag.

2.There is no way internet connection can affect FPS.

get better pc ?

Sometimes you will have some lag it will go away eventually once it was on me for a week but then it worked great after that and never complained again.
