Tips for Leveling Up Heroes
Monkey Blonde
Coming over for a foreign land as level 20 and meeting Koss at level 2 can be disappointing, so I figured a thread of ideas that people have found to level up their heroes would be useful.
Other than the obvious bringing them along while you grind Sunspear Promotion points I have found another helpful method that is nearly effortless.
Anytime you collect a quest reward, make sure you have 3 heroes in your party that you want to get the experience as well. They don't even have to be the ones who have done the quest with you. Usually, quest rewards are collected in town, so if you are in a party and don't have room for your 3 heroes, simply leave the party and bring 3 heroes to collect the reward. Then dump them and continue on. Easy xp. I haven't tried this in other continents, but I'm sure it will work there too.
If you have other handy suggestions, please post them here.

I brought my Heros over to Tyria, using the two monk heros and Koss I was able to level all of them to 15-17 fairly quickly outside Port Sledge killing Grawl (I was an MM, but I did it using a blood build, anything that can reasonably kill a few mobs at once solo should be fine...) You may die a little at first, sometimes a lot of Grawl aggro at once, but if you keep at it they level up really quickly.
I also killed the Jade Brotherhood mobs outside Maatu Keep in Pongmei, this worked especially well for softer heros.

This was pretty easy for me.
Get you'r low heros, take them to the first mission. Do it as far as you can for about 3-4 times, which should make them all around 15-16, then grab regular hench and complete.
I suggest the first mission since they gain experience even when the sunspear troup kills the enemies. If you happen to have some xp scrolls handy (which i did not), then you should be able to end the mission with them being around level 18. Also do to the ai update, low al classes rarely get attacked, which makes for a lot easier hero leveling.

One word : junundu. A level 2 hero is just as potent as a level 20 hero. Cruise around the Gates of Desolation until all of your heroes are level 20.

i am not sure how outrageous this might be since i never tried it, but i think packing up a few scrolls and bringing a hero with you and 55 farm would be the fastest (the hero does not have to farm, he can focus on been passive)
or bring them to factions, as far as i know, factions is the easiest place to level up characters.

Yeah factions is basically full of easy messenger quests which give 3kxp a time...

yeah - don't even need them taking part, just have them for turn-in
(ie use your levelled ones for the work and the lowbies for the turn-in)
don't worry about your regular ones slipping behind because of it, heroes catch-up FAST

no issue for me, some how, I like to play with different heroes, so at the gate of disolation, all my heroes at lvl 20

I haven't tried it yet but wouldn't taking the rewards for the Titan Quests in Prophecies with them in your group be really effective.

My rit took her newbies back to the starter isle of cantha....been killing yetis! koss went up a few levels and so have the others (I need to level them so I can go and get Olias---I have a problem there since I still havent finished defend north kryta yet and the titans kill off the level 10 henchies with ease).
and sometimes the yetis drop rags with runes......need all those I can get now for those newbies!!

agreed. i leveled all of my heros to 20 in an afternoon, and got like 50 chests during that time.

The best way to level up heroes is: Use non-L20 when you explore, quest or do missions. They'll all be L20 soon enough.
Kool Pajamas
They should just make heroes the same level you are.
-.-
That defeats the purpose of having them play with you.

Sound plans all around.
* I find that for quests that you can get rewards in towns and outposts, you can switch to heroes that need to lvl up and let them get the xp rewards.
* Remember how easy it was to lvl up in Factions? You can apply that to all of your heroes, especially in the zones between Kaineng Center and where you do the Closer to the Stars Mission. Very useful if you're using an Elonian; that's what I did to lvl up Jin/Sousuke, Olias, & Zanmei.
* Standard power lvl'ing seems to work too with the right builds for those Tyrians and Canthans that went through everything in Prophecies and/or Factions.

Use your xp scrolls.
Fight high level ennemies (Unwaking waters is perfect for this).
Earn quest rewards.
You can level up your heroes up to lvl 20 in a few hours.

What I did was I took my low level heros ( one at a time) and put them on passive so they would avoid combat but still gain xp.
I only did this when doing quests or exploring.

Just bring them along as you do the storyline. It's easy til the last couple missions, so you can kill two birds with one stone.

I found just taking them to the troll cave outside Droks a real easy way to level them. Yeah Yeah trolls run away "sniff sniff" who cares its still easy xp.
This was with a Canthan warrior who was already lvl 20 though.

LOL, it was ultra-effective!
Ole Man Bourbon
I go in 5-man groups when doing quests and missions as much as possible. 3 heroes, 1 hench, and myself. Always 2 monks in the group. That's a good way to get loot, xp, and just plain skill/real-life experience. Ok that last part's a lie.

anyone check if heroes can be brought along for the doppleganger fight? might be effective
