MMEA - Read 2 find out what it means
eloc_jcg
Masive Multiplayer Explorable Areas. Basically when you enter an Explorable Area they should give you a choice to go to an 'MMEA' or the private one (the current one atm). MMEA is basically like other online games where you see people like in towns but they fight with you. There would be certain problems, ofcourse, like farming Greens. For Greens they could make it a random drop in all monsters with a very low % chance to get them. It would come in handy for leveling because all the monsters aren't coming at you at once but people are fighting with you. They would have to get rid of powere leveling and cause you to get exp per amount of damage you do or the # of times you hit the enemys or if you participated in the fight or not.

I'm pretty sure they do private maps because of lag problems. WoW can do it but they have more toony graphics I think or something liek that
Zinger314
This is a CORPG, not an MMORPG. Big difference. This isn't WoW. Again.

Yeah the great thing about GW is the individual instances for each team, means you dont have to deak with all the idiots and you can go about stuff your own way.

In addition, Zinger is also correct - GW is a CORPG for sure, but I wouldn't throw out the MMO moniker - having a persistent world does not make a game an MMO in my eyes.

In which case, i'm going to assume your new to GWs and suddenly realised that it ISNT WOW!
This has been mentioned countless times and we're all well aware that the game functions differently to games such as WOW.
We all know that not everyone exists within the same instance all the time.
But the thing is this;
We dont care, we like it. If you want that kind of game, then go back to WoW or some similar game.
GWs works perfectly fine the way it is.
Everyone interacts in cities and towns, and then you get individual instances with either henches or humans in parties up to max of 8.
Whats the issue?
It cuts down on lag.
It means you dont have to handle human players who you dont know/want there while trying to explore, farm and do quests.
It means you dont even need to play along side humans if you choose not to.
GWs wouldnt work as 100% MMEA, because you couldnt move anywhere without some random warrior agro-ing an entire mob of creatures and then leading them right into you.
Green drops would dry up, because instead of having a 4-8 green farming team, you would be competeing against possibly dozens.
Basically it works fine.
Its not going to change and the only place you will be able to mingle with more then 8 people are in towns and cities.
If ive misunderstood your point to the post, then I apologise. But if not, then stop winging.

I bought Guild Wars specifically because it doesn't have this.

CORPG? Whats the CO stand for? And I said that maybe it will give you an option depending if you are in a party or not.

whis is also why GW is still one of the best damn looking games out there

Non-instances (which is a better name imo) screw over the game balance. Currently we have no respawn times. It'd be too easy to do some quests which are supposed to be hard. And what about the quests that change the whole environment, like the Titan quests in Tyria and half the quests in nightfall?
It's just impossible with the way things are set up right now. And all the monsters don't go on you. They go on you and your party. Learn to fight with them.
However, I think 1 or 2 non-instances should be fun in another campaign.

Its just time and resources which could be used for better things, instead of just creating another way to add lag.
Anet would have to start charging monthly fees probably to have that system in place, due to the high demands of the hardware.
It might seem a nice idea, but I cant see it happening.
But if it ever did, then the best way to do it, would be to use that system in the next chaptor of the game, instead of adding to/changing existing ones.

If you want to play something like that, you're in the wrong game. The whole point of instanced areas in GW is just so you DON'T have to experience that sort of thing (and all the problems associated with it).

i like it just the way it is now, you can choose if you go out with or without a human party.

hehe, reading this made me shutter at the "Camp check" calls when you zone into an area in other online games...
No thanks, GW is much better with the instanced zones.

wow it must be my day to bitch.
Why do so many people want GW to be WoW. Heres what I got feel free to add or just choose.
1. They are to cheepto pay to play a game they have already payed for once
so now they want the free to play to work as the more expensive game.
2. They seem to think all games should be the same and be cookie cuttered out.
3. They know that the graphice on WoW suck but liked the game play so now they want the graphics of GW with WoWs (better???) game play.
4. They wore a helmet to school, so they dont get drain bamage on the short bus "Cause I'm special"

In the top 10 list of bad-suggestions, that ranks about 2.
Its been mentioned and suggested and flamed countless times.
Its GOOD that we have varied MMOs on the market, to cater for the varied demands of players.
No one is saying dont make suggestions, but nothing which basically asks for the entire game-dinamtic to be redesigned.
It just wont happen.

Good Idea, drawn up a bit odd though. If they would make a couple maps that were massive multiplayer that would be fine but not the whole world. Make one or 2 of the largest maps in GW massive and leave the others alone, also have it so that the monsters come back after a set amount of time, set the quests so they are only in those areas when you are in a private mode (instanced), and have no good drops while it is in massive mode. Make the drops standard and gold coins only. These suggestions might make it easier to do but still the hardware that A-Net would have to put out for might be the limiting factor. Also lag may come into play, especialy if you have several players on slow connections.

That could work..make a few maps MMEA..good idea. XD

Wow, be fair to the poor guy...
Redardless of whether this particular idea is a good one or not: just because WoW has implemented a given feature, does that preclude a parallel addition to GW?

the reason why i played GW is because i hate those MMEA thingy...
sorry but i dont agree with this.

Meh. It's only a suggestion. & why do people keep saying MMEA is like WoW? WoW wasn't the first/only game to use MMEA style thingy.
