I would really like to hear what everyone has to say about the new professoins. Just say if you like them or not and why.

My Opinion :

When I got factions I was really excited about the assassin....after about 5mins of playing on the assassin i decided that i did not like it and went back to my Warrior. Later one of my guildies convinced me to try the Ritualist which soon after became my favorite class.

With Nightfall I knew from the start that i was going to make a Dervish. I am nearly at the end of the campaign and i just cant stop playing. I think that the Dervish is a class that has great potential and i know that i will have mine arround to see where people go with the class. Havent gotten arround the the Paragon yet but i am sure that it is a great class too and cant wait to start working on one.

I had the same experience with the Assassin although I went Rt. For NF I was anticipating playing a Paragon and it has more than met my expectation. I love it.

It's kinda funny.....I was originally looking forward to Dervish, and my fiance was complaining "They keep looking at their shoes" from the Nightfall preview event.

Somehow, that stuck on me, and originally I wasn't impressed with the Paragon *at least from the PvP event, even though I'm a PvE kinda guy*

Now, I find myself running around with a lvl 15 Paragon after 23 hours in a little over 3 days loving it. She's playing a Dervish. Go fig.

The Paragon has really impressed me. I love their adrenaline-based ranged attacks, their group support shouts, and the ability to pack a shield. To be honest, I was never a big Melee player...my two other major chars are an Elementalist and a Ranger...so this is probably the closest I've played to a hardcore Warrior in a while (W is his secondary)

So, that's my 2 cents.

I have to say I love playing my Assassin but I do not think they are the greatest character class, it takes a certain finesse to not die constantly.

I tried a Ritualist and I hated it, probably my least favourite class in the game.

I havnt tried out a Dervish as yet but a friend of mine has and thus far im quite impressed with it and will be making one for myself at some stage.

The Paragon I have started playing and is an awsome class.

Since the preview event I loved the Paragon, seemed to me the most versatile profession after the Ranger (my overall favourite), and at the same time I thought Dervish was not so great, too squishy for a melee, just like the Assassin.

Now I'm happily playing my Paragon, still think it's a really great profession with high damage output, great defence and very nice support skills; but probably I like my survivor Dervish even more, its damage output is the highest in the game (provided you can keep enchantments on) and its squishiness is more theorethic than real, it only requires to be played well to stay alive.

Love them both, and love Nightfall too, a big step ahead of Factions and its so-so professions!

I cannot stand assassins, everything about them is just annoying.
From the way they stand to the way they move.
I just could not play one at all.
On the other hand, I love being a Rit.

I thought I will be playing Dervish first but I'm playing paragon and I'm liking it so far. I still have not gotten far (starter island) but so far so good.

Overall the order of what I like most is:
Mesmer
Warrior
Necro
Rit
Ranger

etc

Assassins are terrible. I tried playing one in PvE, got him 1.5k Canthan armor and then deleted him because I hated it so much. The funny thing is that I made a W/A that used daggers later and it was 5 times as entertaining. They're good for PvP, but I'd hate to have one in PvE.

Ritualists are amazing. They're like monks in that they can heal just as well when played right, but they actually don't suck if they change to offensiveness with channeling/communing. I bought my ritualist 15k Imperial armor, the only class I've bothered with it for. My forte in GW is healing/protection, and I'm even better at healing with my ritualist than my monk I've played since the start of Prophecies.

I made a paragon when NF came out. The PvP event actually did impress me. I created a build that slightly modded the preset and destroyed teams as the only /healer/. They are very original in design and fun, but challenging, to learn how to play well.

Dervish...not too sure about yet. I've looked at some of their skills and they are interesting, not to mention that they just look like mega badasses.

So, that's my 2 cents. If my shoes were that cute, I couldn't keep my eyes off of them, either.

I love playing Dervish because they solo so efficiently. I have a Paragon but have yet to really use it. I'm afraid to choose my secondary profession until I have a plan, but I'm thinking maybe elementalist.

I love Elementalists and Rangers, too. My boyfriend refuses to be a Paragon for some reason, and he loves his Dervish, although Rangers and Mesmers are still his favorites. I read through all of the skills in Guild Wiki's quick reference section for Paragons, and I was thinking about how to construct a new running build.

Scythes are ridiculously overpowered... They hit multiple enemies without an attack skill, AND they hit for more damage than any other melee weapon. I've been having dreams about giving my assasin one, seriously. The D/W Wild Solo build is really cool, and that's what I use on my lowly level 14 Dervish (I just started her yesterday).

And my ritualist is a Continual Channeler, which I love. And my assasin is a really effective green farmer. I pay my friends for expensive items in Scar Eaters. >.< Hahaha.

For PvE Proph it has to be mesmer. It's just... boring... Me is a great 2ndary, but not primary. For Factions, I kinda like sin, but I remember at one point in a mission, I died so many times i wasted all the rezes for my team. Lucky they were good at what they did... I sat there about 5 minutes into the mission with 60% DP and watched my team pommel the enemies mercilessly. However, I don't like the Ritualist. I dunno... I'm not a spell-caster type. My warrior I've had is the second charater I've ever made (1st was a necro that never made it past piken :P ) and I love him. As for Nightfall, I don't have it yet, but I loved the Dervish. He was so awesome! But that was the free event, which I had a day to play around in. (stupid computer :x )

I'm not interested at the paragon or dervish or NF PvE at all. I'm not over CH2 yet and I got all this new core profession skills to remember....

Ritualists: I first fell in love with the Ritualist casting animations. Funny how a little thing like that can make you start a new character! I have to say, though, that he's now probably my least favourite character, though it's not entirely his fault!

I eventually got sick of spirit-spamming, particularly when henching - you have to spend too much time putting up defenses and can't guide henchies by wanding. I've since developed a couple of builds I do quite enjoy, but unfortunately these depend on my playing with other people (I spend 90% of the time holding Songkai's ashes, so I can't pick targets!).

Assassins: I started a 'sin late in the game, as a kind of dare to myself - could I make a an assassin I was actually proud to play in PvE in the face of the negativity (including my own)? ...And I've got to say I've really enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately, the single best fun you can have as an Assassin is group play where you have the freedom to stay out of the fight, pick your targets, duck in and out of the front line. Unfortunate because Assassins are notoriously hard to get groups as!

Paragons: While I was originally quite keen on them, my experience of the gameplay has soured very slightly. No-one really wants to play as a pure shout-spam monkey, and spear-damage feels a bit too much like playing a ranger with a shortbow. I'm plodding on with mine, but I have this uncomfortable feeling that it's my [skill]Order of the Vampire[/skill] hero that's doing all the work...

Dervishes: Dervishes are just fun to play in PvE. I think ANet nailed the balance perfectly on this one - I feel powerful and safe enough in combat without it becoming too easy.

ritualist : Started with this class in Faction, originally loved proving others wrong by healing as good as any monk. Then I remembered I didn''t like staring at red bars so I became a spirit spammer, which tbh didn't do it for me either. May play again with this char, but probably not anytime soon.

assassin : Absolutely love this class. Started it late after I had brought all my existing chars to the Canthan endgame. I guess I did well with it, when teaming with friends and filling up with henchies they would always leave the warrior henchie and make me tank, with very few deaths Though what above poster says is true, an assassin shines when he can hang back as the warrior runs in and then do his own thing.

paragon : Sigh, I got my Survivor killed at the ring of fire, was luring the mursaat from 2 ether seals and placed the hero flags too far away (forgot about the knockdown). Apart from that I love this class, definately more depth then the ritualist, and shout-spamming is not as boring as spirit spamming (and the paragon can do more then this no doubt, we just have to discover it).

dervish : 60 AL melee makes squishie like the assassin. Planning on making one in a few months. Not so impressed so far, the Dervishes I have pugged with behaved in the same way most assassin pugs. *Dervish runs up to enemie mob *Dervish go splat (I need to group with some gd Dervish players :P they seem to rock in pvp tho).
