Suggestion for this suggestion forum

I've asked about 5 or six times in various places if anet looked at this thread and got no reply. Thus, if anet DOES look here, they rarely do. And so, if I want to make sure Anet sees a post that has been 100% signed in favor I would have to bump the topic every so often even if the arguments are quite dead. Can we add a vote sticky with votes and links like there is in the concept classes forum subsection?

*bump* see this is my point. Anet doesn't look here often and without a vote section for anet to easily see whats good and whats not, this forum is worthless. I'm leaving if I dont get a response here, why bother with suggestions that have almost no chance whatsoever of getting implemented even if everyone in the entire forum /signs it!!!

Many times good suggestion is flamed here with no good reason. Then when Anet implement flamed suggestion people suddenly think it is good idea.

no I'm talking about ideas that are sitting in the forum for months that need to be bumped constantly just so anet will observe them a single time. It'd just be so much easier just to have a vote sticky like concept classes has, hell concept classes is even just a subsection and it has this. Then if anet even bothers looking here (which they probably dont at all) they will have a place to quickly look at the ideas that hold some shred of support. I'm saying, while its fun to make suggestions, it seems about 100 hours of fans' time is lost every day in the false hopes that anet may consider their supported suggestion.

I'm sure they are looking around in the concept classes, just none of them are great enough (look in there sometime and u'll see 50 vampire/werewolf classes)

You do realise that although many will /sign an idea, at the end of the day, it's entirely up to ANet, right?

I've seen amazingly stupid ideas which have been /signed by many before...

well yes but I'm complaining about this side of the forum not concept classes. Concept classes has the sticky I'm suggesting, but the main side of the forum doesn't?

Edit: I think you guys are missing my point entirely. Anet does NOT look here often! Sure people /sign some stupid ideas, but don't you think an idea with 100% sign versus an idea with 2 sign 10 unsigned is more worthwhile to look at?

Gaile/Alex are PR reps that look at suggestions, and they pass them on to the dev if they think its good.

This Forum provides a lot of information on the things Gwikis doesn't. it allows people to be creative and think of ideas they'd like in the game, though they know perfectly well that alot of them will not be taken.

As for Anet not listening, can you blame them for not being able to listen to 2 million of their fans? At least they are trying. Talk to Gaile Gray sometime, if she can she'll listen. Anet is much better than Blizzard when it comes to this, all Blizzard cares about is their bank cheques.

Almost everyone agreed, and eventually Anet implemented a large portion of his ideas. Do you realise just how often he had to bump that thing?! eh anyways its been 4 days without a response from gaile, and nobody has responded in my post in the index sticky in weeks about this either. I think it's pretty clear that nobody has a chance in hell of getting any idea in these forums into gw. i.e. shouldn't this forum be changed to "Ideas" rather than "suggestions" since we aren't suggesting to anyone?

So, basically you're just asking for a vote thread like the one in the Concept Class forum, but about all the general suggestions in this main forum, right?

If so, I don't see any harm in it. Could be fun to vote for all of our non-implemented suggestions and ideas. Something Anet can take a look at and go "Hey, these are the most wanted features the Guru community wants to see in the game!" instead of sifting through page after page, reading thread after thread and counting all the /signed posts to see which ideas are most popular.

It's true, they don't just add ideas based solely on their popularity with the community. That doesn't mean that it doesn't sway their decisions, though. Think about it: If they saw what they thought was a great idea, but then it was followed with a bunch of /notsigned and reasons why everyone would hate it, that might make them think twice. Same goes for the reverse: they see a decent idea that they're on the fence with, but see everyone fervently /signing it, that might make them give it a go.

An organized sticky, with a poll/vote on all (or as many as possible) of the suggestions here would be a great way to send a shout-out to Anet. Let them know exactly what we all think should be added into the game.

Its commented befoe (forgot who, but someone official) that A.net dev have people looking at forum for feed backs, and sometime suggestions too. Also in the Behind-the-Scene DVD, they do talk for 5 min of how A.net listen to the community, and cases of forumer becoming a Dev... (or something like that)

There are few ideas that is translated (thought most often not exactly) into the game that has its orgin from the fourm. And that list is long too.

But keep in mind the Dev would have other issue to concern about in regarding to a idea, so what is on the paper might not always be perfect in pratice or when coded, which might result in its change or not be use at all.

And I don't think A.net can really credit a fourm idea at all, thus hard to say what is the orgin, be it from such fourm or in-house.

But as a fourm suggestioneer myself, the question become what is the purpose of your suggestion? As this is not a A.net fourm, I would say a direct suggestion to A.net would not be the best attempt. Take it more as a discussion fourm, where you bring out a idea, and let other talk about it. If the idea is popular and good, and got many intersted and /sign, would surely bring it to Dev's attention, making it possible to be seen in the game. More importantly, take it as an entertainment, a place to share with other of your creativity.

However, few of the most popular ideas does strangely never got any response...*cough hairdresser cough* (and the coughing can go on)

Oh, forgot to add...

Put yourself in the shoes of a A.net Dev/Fourm Ninja. They have to comb thought hundres of post everyday (from all fourms, and not just this one), it is not likly they will catch everything. So most likly they will take a closer look at popular threads, especially if it is easy to implement with lots /sign.

So if you want your idea made, first get lots /signs. (and if that idea is good enough, you won't need alot of self-bumping)

(and I think there is a policy forbiding Dev or any "inside worker" from having any voice on the fourm. thus they can not respon or join in a discussion)

Bad idea. If you have been here as long as I have then most of the so called "new ideas" surface every few months. Another sub section is the last thing Guru needs as it has too many already.

another sub section? I was just talking about adding a sticky to the page o.O As in highlighting the good ideas as opposed to having 200 rejects and 50 good ideasto sift through.

in fact it would help get rid of said false "new ideas" because the sticky would add links to the things being voted on.
