ffing for $... ftw??
jimmyboveto
Ok, i assume you people know what ffing is... but did u ever think about doing it for money? I know amber is at an all time low right now, but thats only cus of release of nf, the prices should go back up within a month. Anyhow, i used to be a member of the alliance that owned House zu Heltzer(until my guidl was kicked cus some officer went crazy and flamed the alliance chat), so i have ffed my fare share amount of time. When i had a good group of people, i could get down to the time of getting 10k faction in 20min, which means considering amber prices r at their usuall(around 650-700), that is about 10k for 20min of work, and 30k for an hour. This beats pretty much all other farming types, because it is very consistent. You do not have to rely on getting lucky with drops.
So, what does everybody think about this idea? If i have some supporters, i can list the build used to be able to achieve such fast times of gaining faction. The purpose of this thread is just to see if other people like my idea.
Thx for all ur feedback

People Faction Farm for Titles also.
jimmyboveto
All i really want to know if other people back me up with this being a good way to make money. Yes, i do know people ff for titles, but i was just saying that it could be a very good way to make money also.

btw 10 amber (from 10k faction) * 650-700g = 6.5-7k not 10k so that is actually about 19.5-21k an hour ^_^

amber will drop - badly
jimmyboveto
U r wrong lepracon, because although u only get 6.5k to 7k from amber, the quest u do for ffing also gives 150g every time, so after getting 10k faction, u will have 3.5k cash from just the quest. Therefore, to reach 10k, u only have to sell the amber for 6.5k each.
And i know amber prices dropped, but they will not stay that way. Now that people rezlized the armors in nightfall are crap, they have already started to rise again.
Plz people... don't correct me when u do not know what you are talking about.

Nightfall armors is the new style of customizing things to your feel, so i dont think ppl will go back for the same old factions armor with the same old mods. Also Ancient Armor in Nightfall Ftw.
But still a nice way of making money

wtf u talking about? Nightfall armor are crap? from what I saw, all the premival and 15k sunspear armor look so radiant for all of the profession, compared to the dull looking kurzick/luxon armor.

Depends on the taste of the player, some really like that primeevil look and others seem to hate it .
but warrior kurzick armor won't be bought anytime soon i reckon.
cheaper and better skinned elonian sunspear armor IMO

ok, firstly- flaming the people trying to help isn't going to make them any more pleased with you than they are.
Amber farming also requires that you find a buyer, currently a very difficult thing because nightfall just released. Also, there is already at least one guide out there on faction farming quests, just as a heads-up if you planned on writing one.
You may also want to consider the possibility that ABing is faster faction farming (I said possibility, it depends on your skill level).

I just got back... looks like not too many people r very happy with me...
I'm sorry if i got angry, but people just weren't staying on the topic i intended this thread to be on.
Also, even if amber does drop to only 500 or 400 each, you would still be making 8.5k to 7.5k per 20min if u are that good. Which comes out to be 25.5k-22.5k per hour, which is still pretty good. Also, please stay on the subject of the thread, and tell me if u think it is a good way of making money, assuming we do this after all the nightfall craziness is done.

um so how did you reach 10k in 20mins? Cuzz even Lut/run farming the best i could do was about 10k an hour and that was w/ 3 runners and a door man. whats faster?
AuraofMana
You get more doing Elite Missions so this isn't a "Better than all farming".
Some might say Elite Missions aren't stable and you aren't always guarantee to get good stuff, but with at least 7-8 chests along the way, there's no way you can't get around 50k per run. With a good group, Elite Missions take less than 2 hours.

I seriously doubt you can get 10k faction in 20 mins even with this run.
10000/400 = 25 so you have to do 25 runs in 20mins which is less than a minute a run and you have to wait for zoning and resing and the run i seriously doubt it. Its actually about 1.5-2 mins per run so about 40-50mins per 10k faction which is about 10k gold in an hour.

I have to agree with Tuna-fish. People always post high estimates for their results without actually taking a timer and watching how long it truly does take.

In my old guild there were some ff crazy ppl that tried to cinvince the rest of us to join them.. they said 10k factions in 20 minutes lmao...I joined them and got 3k in 20 minutes...

hmm let me see when we ff with TLS before a ST run would take:
-5 secs to get to spot then Shadow F
-Shadow F runs for 25.2 secs (with the 20% enchant)
-takes another 20 secs after its over to get to st spot (spamming Dash (5)/Zh (5)/Dash (5)/Dodge (5))
-you die instant with grim cesta door maps counter starts 15, 14....
-you get reward 5 secs then zone
thats a total of 55-70 secs per run accounting for the load on zone (assuming mush dont mess up and everyone has a vamp + cesta for quick saccing)
25 * 70 secs roughly 30 mins
thats 10k in 30 mins I agree that its a good way to get gold "but" with NF out old FF guilds are not PvE based even TLS isnt farming that much anymore. just IMO.
if you want to ff add me though hehe (Ashen Thado)

Fast Faction Farming?
To those who don't understand what we are exactly talking about, we are referring to the repeatable quest given by Arne The Scoutmaster located outsite Lutgardis Conservatory. However, I hope Anet decides to nerf that out. Anyway. It's a no-brainer that every player has their own goals when it comes to Guild Wars. (And in life, blah, blah.). Personally, I find faction farming a waste of time and absolutely no fun. Most faction farming guilds I've witnessed (not going to mention names, although we all who know who they are) have turned it into a tiresome, political 24/7 job and they still do it with Nightfalls out. The only purpose to even get nightfalls is to get running skills. LOL. They call Guild Wars a way of having fun, but I find no fun in doing something I really get no benefit after. No to mention that many fast faction farmers I know can't scrimmage nor prevent his butt kicked during AB. I mean if faction farming is going to turn into a job I must do daily, then I should get paid for it with benefits. Since I'm happy that I have an actual real life, I'd rather stick to just seeing Guild Wars as a way to have fun, no drama. Yes, I have the Kurzick title, but I find nothing special about it.
The only way I would care to fast faction farm is to get amber. Amber to get armor and/or gold. However, the value dropped and I already have 15k Kurzick on two of my characters. My desires for armor are now towards Nightfalls and therefore I see no importance of it. I mean..hello...Nightfalls (IMO) is probably the best thing in Guild Wars to come.
If you happen to under the age of 18, wish to own a town, Factions being the only campaign you have, or you just have nothing in the real world to do (and I know there will be those arguing for the sake of getting noticed) or/and your social life outside Guild Wars has become either retarded or non-existent ok I guess you can say fast faction farming can have some "important" for your sake. If older.....no comment. lol. I guess it's easy for me to say it because I have a real life and can still see that Guild Wars is just some parallell universe where nothing is existent. It's basically as make believe as the imaginations of the Muppet Babies. I'm sorry if you guys see this as flaming, but that's just how I see it.
Like many other players I've enjoyed interacting with, we share the same goal with Guild Wars. To get by and to be done, because this game is addicting and lot of us knows we should be taking the time to get off our booties, job and leave the computer for a good 4 days. Faction Farming somewhat can take that away because certain guilds do try to dictate if you don't continue to donate 10k after you just made your daily donation, you'll get kicked out. We usually refer to these types as Faction Farming Nazis.
I'm just glad I've relieved myself from such a mess, however if this is what gives your Guild Wars-fix then stick with it.

--let us not stray away from the question here pls, the topic is if FFing a good way to make money. Meaning create a "good" group to FF for money not to donate to your guild. The factions you get are to be traded for amber and sold for MONEY.
now is FFing a good way to make money? Yes (for 10k for 30 or so mins of running, sure, again he did mention to get a good group and this does not necessarily mean join a FF guild) is it the best way? Probably not.
if your opinion is FFing is dumb and boring, how about repeated troll killing? (as what is done in the past), or repeated killing with no storyline (i.e. pvp) farming is a repeated task and it is based on preference on how you would go about doing it to make gw money. But again the main point is, is FFing A GOOD WAY TO MAKE GW MONEY? for players who can run fast and likes to do it YES (I would not discount this as a way of earning gold based on 10k per 30 or so mins), but is it a best way to make money? probably yes/no depends on your preference.
PS: it is up to your option if you want to farm the whole day, thinking that you would makes your mind thin. The point here is to make as much money in a short period of time and get on with your life so you DO NOT have to do it the whole day. Figure it out (he did not mention join a FF guild its just forming a group to FF for gold)

Well just to reply to your (for the sake or making an) argument, um we are talking about faction farming and it usually does involve having a ff guild since it's only easy to form a ff team with them. If you aren't with one it can take up the whole day.
To repeat the question that you pretended to act as if it wasn't answered, "Is ff good for gold?" As of now, not really because amber 300 too 400g. We aren't really taking about FF, we are talking about FFF (Fast faction farming). There's a difference and that can barely be done anymore since there isn't really any good group to fff with anymore unless you are in the their ff guild and if you are they will jump on your throat to donate. Fast Faction Farming should mean to make 20k very fast and now that's kinda impossible through this process.

FFing for $.. Ftw?
Id say no, 2 reasons.
1. It just isnt that much money, other methods have netted me way more, and almost as consistantly. (I used to FF for $, 10k faction in 45mins or so 3-4k each for amber we were making an easy 40k, but its 1/10th that now)
2. Its boring. Very boring. I believe Racthoh said it best. "Fun > Loot"
