I have a feeling this has been mentioned, but couldn't find anything in the search. If it has been shot down by developers (for whatever reasons, could be strategic wise, etc) let me know.
Simple really, add small little timers to indicate how much time is left on an enchantment or hex. Although, it might be a bad idea to add timers to hexes for strategic purposes another build can use to lull opponents into a sense of false panic when it doesn't really last long. So maybe just enchantments?
Would definitely help a ton to know how much time Mending Refrain has left or a chant/echo of another sorts, along with Elemental attunements and.. well, obviously list goes on.
Simple Idea #2 - Effect Timers

At the end of it all, I prefer the current system of keeping it unknown unless you have these personal skills. I'm able to judge the length of hexes as my mesmer, or attunements with my ele - with practice you should be able to as well.

When an enchantment or hex or stance or lots of things in the effects monitor is going to end, it starts flashing, and then you have a set time before it will end.
