How do u open the gate to get to the area where the boss is across from Breena...Im not talking about the boss u have to kill to get the bonus started. There is an area blocked by a gate next to where the ember bearers start. The gate does not open after the bearers move out. Nor does the gate open after completing the bonus. I could not see any levers to open the gate. Anyone know how to open the gate?

You can't open that gate or kill that boss.

Wrong spot buddy, follow the amber carrier, but DONT kill them, they will open a second door were ther boss's are.

While Halmyr is right that the bonus is on the other side, following the bearers and waiting for the gate to open, they also come from somewhere...
So the only chance I see is to camp their spawning point while someone else talks to Breena. If the area is built and can be entered, the gate should open now to let the bearers pass, similar to them passing the opposite gate.

The gate never opens. The Shield Bearers spawn right in front of it.

Oh, I know the spot of which you speak. I spent many hours trying to figure out how to get to that boss (the spawn changes which boss). I never managed to figure it out. Now it mocks me every time I find myself going back through that mission.

you need to be in range for it; if you are in range of it, you could kill it with AOE spells as well. however, people tried killing him already and it failed, so i imagine AOD wouldnt reach him either? :|

Even if the boss was in casting range, Aura of Displacement and other shadow stepping skills will not go through doors or walls. Necrotic would allow you to go through the door if you could find a dead body past it.

You can get in there, i only know this because once ago i was going for the bonus and i found myself in there, i think if i remember right that the gate opens when teh bearers reach the other gates (the bonus area) i could be wrong there though, hmm ill have to check. Anet may have changed in secretly as they do
