Suggestion: Anet, please let us inscribe Canthan and Tyrian Items
ibex333
I understand why inscrbed items shouldnt drop in Canth/Tyria, but why cant we put elonian inscriptions into whatever item we want to?
I'm pretty sure, there's no place in Elona things like a Gothic Defender or a Platinum Blade will drop. So why not let people get these weapons elsewhere and inscribe them?

Your question itself shows that you don't understand why inscribed items shouldn't drop in Cantha or Tyria.
If this occured, the in-game trading system for certain rare items would be ruined and it would infurate a lot of long time fans.

No Nightfall? No adding inscribe parts to them....
and actualy... I like this idea
btw, wouldnt this make the armor bonusses on the armors bought in Tyria/Cantha useless?

Yeah I suppose it would.. But who cares? This will make all these other people buy Nightfall, which is good for anet.
And about marketing and infuriating traders... Screw them. I'm one of these traders, and I will loose a lot of money. (I'm willing to take that hit)
We already got the farming nerfed(which I dont necessarily like), so why not "nerf" the 1337 traders too?
Isnt the whole goal of farming destruction to eliminate grinding in the long run?
So inscribing Tyrian/Canthan items would go toward the same idea.

This is what the whole 70+ pages long thread was about. Thankfully Anet implemented the changes well so that the economy didn't get damaged badly, and thankfully there are still some rare things in the game. Perfect Elonian golds with any stats you want will soon be easily and cheaply attainable to just anyone, isn't that enough?
Another thing are armors, which i think should all be 'insigniable', and especially FoW armor, as it's core content (or maybe it is now, still need a confirmation)

/signed for Armor. Right now, we are limited if we love the skin of a Prophecies armor, but want the statistics of another chapter's armor. I have no idea why this needs to be, and simply does nothing to the balance of the game.
/notsigned for Weapons, etc. See the giant thread in the Nightfall section of the basic arguments as to why this isn't a good idea, from a personal goal and economy standpoint.

Different continents have different ways their armor functions. Take it as the PvE (RPG) aspect of the game.

I'd don't care about insignas on an ugly heket axe, but i'd like to upgrade the dual gothic 14^50 i already got with the 15^50 insigna i just managed to recycle
It's just a story of likes and dislikes, it doesn't change anything when it come to actually play the game.
"100k+xxecto obo" sellers can get lost, I'm not gonna buy anything at this kind of prices, and i don't want to encourage them.
Plus, keeping my gold for myself or giving it to another player doesn't change anything in the economy, this gold isn't removed from the game itself.
But destroying old gold items while trying to recycle them does.

If they didn't plan on changing this in tyria and cantha they shouldn't have added it, for a game thats so focused on being balanced they'r really quite hipocritical
edit:although i understand why it hasnt been added, i just think it was an area that didnt need to be altered for elona in the 1st place

You can still make a pvp character with insignias so its not imbalanced. Its only more convenient for Nightfall owners.

Getting tired of so high prices. That could only help.
Getting tired of (sometime deep) gameplay differences between chapters.

With NF and all future chapters using ?inscriptions? doesn't the destruction of the value's just happen sooner vs latter?
It would also help get the inscriptions/insignias stock level (and prices down in pve) sooner.

I've got a better idea!
In order to make Prophecies and Factions more interesting for players that started playing GW with Nightfall make such improvement:
*Make a certain percentage of gold (only gold) items that will drop in Tyria/Cantha have the "Inscription:none" Not all of them. Only some of the newly found golds would get it, like all those that would come with no inscription-mod at all. As inscriptions themselves are a feature exclusive to Nightfall, add only "Inscription:none" so that new inscriptions can be still obtained in Elona only.
Maybe disable this feature from a couple rarest high end skins.
No need to inscribe collectors or crafter items from previous chapters as there are plenty of them in NF
About armor i'm undecided.
This change won't seriously damage the economy and still will make lots of people happy. Such a small modification but will give a reason to return to Tyria and Cantha for some juicy drops
People that dont like high prices should just buy Elonian items which will be cheap. But if they want to make money, they can come to Tyria or Cantha and find the expensive goodies themselves. Because there is no such thing as high-end golds in Elona.

I find it VERY annoying that I can't use inscriptions I found in combat on my character's existing Canthan 15k armors, especially given the fact that the given armor's stats were retroactively changed.
Example: My assassin's Saboteur Gloves used to have reduced bleeding duration 20%. Then it got changed to +10AL vs. physcial, +10AL vs. slashing. Frankly, the 20% bleeding duration is far better than the conditional, location specific armor bonuses. However, there is no way to regain the original stats without purchasing Elonian armors. I wouldn't normally mind, but these new Elonian armors are !@#$ ugly. Why should anyone have to settle for bad aesthetics, especially given the retro-active armor changes?
If ANET had left the old armor stats alone, then I wouldn't mind inscriptions being Elonian-armor-only. However, in light of the global armor changes, it seems very short-sighted of ANET to downgrade all other existing armors and NOT allow users to restore their armor's original stats via legal means.
