Getting rid of hero pet ?

Thrilled by the idea to have heroes with pets i tried it out ofcourse and was indeed very happy this is allowed......

now i shouldn't have tested this with that silly warthog in the plains.
The pet dude there won't take the pet away from my hero.

i'm guessing a bug... but i could be wrong ofcourse, it wouldn't be the first time.

any ideas ?

From what I've heard, there's currently no way for a Hero to lose their pet. I don't think I'd call it a bug, just a "lack of feature".

Since so many are complaining about this, I'd bet it'd get fixed in the near future.

If you are trying to simply get rid of the pet, make sure your hero character doesnt have "Charm Animal" on his skill bar. As far as getting a diffrent pet for your hero....umm i'm not sure. But as VG said, I'm sure ANet will fix that or find a better soultion.

Lack of feature gives Anet too much credit...
Losing your pet for a better one has nothing to do with a feature, it's as natural as being able to change skills.

Bug isn't that well put either i guess... i'll mark this one as forgotten feature

You can't get rid of heros pets? Well I guess it's a good thing I didn't play on my ranger and have all my heros get a pet yet... I hope they put in a way to get rid of heros pets before I play on my ranger again!

I just got a respond from NCsoft that releasing your hero pet is not possible and furthermore that this was acctually intended.

in other words: works as designed and will not be attended further in any near updates.

quite odd don't you think ?

so i came up with my own little solution: delete your char and start over......
a fitting workaround that will probably help a lot of ppl :/

That sounds like an answer someone would give after screwing up and not wanting to accept responsibility.

I can't see any reason that we shouldn't be able to change pets for our heroes. Of course, one of the first things I did was tame a flamingo for each of my heroes... I would like ANet to give us the ability to change heroes' pets.

i happen to work in IT-service management.
If i would give an answer like that to a paying customer i would have a lot of explaning to do to my boss in a conversation with words like "customer demands are our goals" and "taking responsibility and answer for not taking them".

There are limitations to any game. I have had gripes about losing the 55 axes that cost me about 45k, my warrior's armor being downgraded from the 100 to 80/20/20 which is going to cost me 7.5k and the boatload of expensive materials, and now about the heros pets not being changable. The first was a glitch, the second was a bad decision on the programmers part, and the third is a "lack of information to the consumer." They have not done anything about the first two problems (believe me, I have tried!), but at the very least, they could put a warning prior to charming the animal that you will not be able to change.

But lets not forget that the game has come a long way in a short period and I for one, think they have done an outstanding job with the lack of problems and glitches - and as a former COO of a dot.com, I know what I am talking about.... =)

Don't misunderstand me, i love this game and at least NCsoft is willing listen to you. something that is a revolution in online gaming by itself imho.
I just don't see any reason why hero should not be able to change pets.

some changes in the game are neccesary for balancing. may it be the economical aspect of the game ( griffon farm nerf) or the physical ascpect ( changing armour/ weapon stats and skillchanges)
i realize this and are willing to live with them eventhough they may have cost you a lot (ingame that is ).

believe me, i will think twice now before i cap a hero animal. it's just a bit sore to have the ugliest pet of them all walk with you because you think after a year of play you know what the genuine do's and don'ts are in this game.
a notice in the game-updates would be the least i had expected from this, that's all.

How is that downgraded?
