Upgrading blue/purple items with inscriptions

Now that you can upgrade almost anything in Nightfall, is it possible to attach an upgrade component and an inscription to a blue/purple item and still have the maximum benefit from an upgrade component.

For example can I add +30hp shield handle to a blue/purple shield and actually recieve the hp bonus? And how about inscriptions?

You've always been able to add upgrades to items of any color, even white. So long as they have the slot for it you can add an appropriate upgrade to it (weapon on weapon, etc - not weapon on shield).

It doesn't matter what the color of the item - white, blue, purple or Gold.. you'll always get full benefit from the inscription's you add.

ie a +30 hp inscription will give you +30 whether you apply it to a white, blue, purple or gold weapon that can take inscriptions.

The weapon has to have a current inscription or an inscription slot on it to be able to use those to upgrade. This is separate from normal upgrades.

Do you guys have a pic of a weapon that does not have an inscription but is inscribable...I want to see the difference
