Hi,
I am a total warrior newbie. I once started a warrior, and later deleted him to make place for something else. With the release of Nightfall I thought that this would be the ideal opportunity to create a warrior, and get used to playing this class.
Can anyone suggest what build/secondary to use? The only good weapons I have available is Sskai sword and Merki's Gace (Shield). So it will have to be a sword build.
If possible I would appreciate it if someone can suggest skills that can be found on the starting island only, since I have only done the first mission so far.
Thanks in advance.

Sell the sword. Buy a Hammer. Go /E for KD/AS or /N for PT

When people talk about builds, they usually mean lvl 20 characters with all skills from the Chapter(s) available. If you've only done the first mission, you can't really make a well-rounded "build" at that point. Just use the best skills you have access to right now, then make an actual "build" once you get further in the game. I know, not terribly helpful, but that's the way it goes.

I agree with Effigy, but since you're a newbie, ignore Spirit's advice. While hammers are cool enough, they aren't as good in PvE due to slow attack speeds and shield-lacking. They aren't for new players, and they usually don't get better even if you're experienced.
Hammers are cool and I like them... But sword and axes are usually better weapons, in PvE that is. In PvP, the hammer rocks.

Yes, in PvP the hammer is my Supremely Accurate Deathstick of Vanquishing.

Never mind it has the potential to deal DPS second only to a dragon slash build (think Enraged Smash!). The two builds are very close in damage output. Too often I think people try to apply a PvP Hammer KD build to PvE mobs, and it's just not effective to do things that way. Lack of a shield is a disadvantage, but hardly one to hold you back if you want to use a hammer. If anything I think that the Axe is the one that isn't that great in PvE (unless you are facing large numbers of bunched up mobs, and can keep them bunched up which is rare nowadays).

PvE hammer is more condition spreading, or Mass DPS. PvP Hammer is KD. a KD/AS PvE build would have counter blow, Aftershock, Devastating/Earthshaker with Crude Swing, Belly Smash, etc. More conditon and straight DPS than KD.
Phoenix Arrows
Hammers are less intended for PvE than Swords or Axes. Just work with what you've got at the moment.
