Bring back "who left the guild" on the status tab
teenchi
I hope this is isn't a duplicate post, my appologies in advance. Working on a really laggy Mac at work and search was hanging.
Myself as a guild leader and my officers are a bit upset to see that this feature no longer works and would like to see it come back. I try to track down members that have left and ask them why so I can make improvements to my guild if something was bothering them. I never used it to harass them for leaving but information as ways I can be a better guild leader. What is the reason behind taking this away? Is it worse to see who left over who got kicked? I don't think so.

I hadn't seen that this was taken back out. I did however notice that my guild's roster dropped one and it didn't list who it was, so I suspected. I was extremely happy when they added that feature and equally displeased that it's now gone. My guild is always between 90 and 100 members so it takes time to figure out who left without it being listed. Sometimes we never figure it out. Without the feature it's like trying to think of the name of a guy in a movie and it's right on the tip of your tongue (before internet search engines).

bring it back. it's good against people who treat your guild like a bathroom.

As a guild leader myself it is always good to know who left. That way I could contact them to find out why and if they plan on returning in the near future. Please bring it back.

As a guild leader I loved the fact that they added this feature and was very upset to see it go. Like many I only noticed it when my roster decreased by one, but I couldn't find who left.
I run a guild website that is membership based so only members can see various posts and activites. I would use the status to see who left and then remove them from my site, but now it is almost imposible to do as my membership usually hovers around 90 or so members.
PLEASE bring it back.

Nice to know who left your guild, like a close friend or something you hated.

There are reasons why it was introduced and later removed to prevent certain unneccessary problems/abuse.

I didnt see that update either but I noticed that it didnt show when one of our members left and suspected thats what happened. I cant remember everyones "main" name so even if i look down the list and look to see who is still here its still sometimes hard to tell exactly who it was that left.

The people who were whinning about it were people in guilds that couldn't keep members. There is no reason for this feature NOT to be in the guild. It just makes managing larger guilds easier.

Some leaders will flame, and some won't. I wouldn't want people to sneak out of guilds and leave people hanging.

Even though the privacy of the member is destroyed it greatly helps the mangement of the guild. Maybe make it leader and only leader appointed officer viewable.

/signed unless someone can show me this feature was used more for flaming then for keeping the guild roster updated.

If it's brought back, it's simply something you'll have to be aware of when joining a guild in the event that you leave it.

But I would prefer if only officers could see it. Someone mentioned it could be bad for morale, and I think they might be right.

i sign this because it was a interesting way to see who left. If its somebody who left in a day a guild hopper or if they left after a while u can ask why

It would be bad for morale if you joined a guild and saw 3/4 of the members all leave on the same day due to the leader and officers being a complete bunch of prats - not mentioning any names or Guilds here but you know who you are

Typically the ones that leave my guild are 'short-timers' of a week or less. I always figure they are guild hoppers that are just looking for the right fit. I and the officers usually don't even think of contacting them. Joining our guild doesn't constitute some binding contract. It's the long term members that we would pm. Luckily we just had one while it listed them. He gave a reasonable answer, did his own thing for a month without us bothering him and has since returned. Anyway, when the member roster one day says 94 and the next it says 91, we'd like to KNOW who left and can at least ask the remaining members if they know why "XX Y Z" left. The way it is now we ask "does anyone know who left the guild" and it's always answered with "no clue."

The benefits far outweigh any problems.

One of the problems this feature introduced was the potential to cause a chain reaction of members leaving (one leaves, the some more see it and feel they should go etc.), I remember reading about how after it was added, some people had many members just up and leave simply because of the message being there. There may be more depth to it I'm not aware of though... This is mostly speculation on an old topic..
Perhaps only allowing the message to be viewable by the Leader and Officers would work, or just make it an option for the guild leader to enable/disable..

It makes the admin of guilds, websites and forums a whole lot easier. If leavers get harrased then report the harasser, simple.
In the mean time forum admins scratch their heads everytime the roster goes down in number..

/signed. It's a very useful feature to have for running a guild.
Was this change intentional though? It's not in the updates page.
