why dont new classes get "old" styled armor?
SilintNinjya
i think its pretty lame that the new classes dont get armor from the older continents, i feel it would make the game a lot more complete. so i was wondering if there was a legitiment reason behind this. i mean, if you were to say that only the one continent offers the materials for the dervish, then why is it that that sins and rts get new armor too? i just think its only fair for the new people to get armor in all the old places. i know it would require a lot of work, but no more work than what has gone into all the other classes and it would add length to the games cause i might actually WANT to take my dervish through tyria just to get the ascended armor. as it is now, i have no reason to take my dervish outside of elona for any reason what-so-ever. so please, can some one explain this to me?

Mainly because you cant start a character (from Elona) in Tyria. Armor is supposed to be something you upgrade throughout your "lifetime" in the game, even though many players just pop 2-3k for a run to droks, the game (if followed.. basically without any deviations) takes you through all the levels of armor. The reason you dont have Dervish armor in Tyria is because you cant start a Dervish there. I'm not sure if you can start a ritualist in Elona or not, but if you can, thats the reason you find their armor there.

I would like to know if there are/will be Luxon and Kur armor types for the new character classes, as I would like to be able to have Luxon armors on all my characters if I so desired.

I don't think it's going to happen. The reason being there is not Sin/Rit armor in Tyria. It would be nice mind you.

ANet has stated that they will not be adding new content to old chapters.

I think it has more to do with the fact that Anet is focusing on expanding the game through new chapters, not by going back to constantly re-do the old chapters by adding armor, weapons, and new content specifically for new classes.
The design teams are working full time on creating new chapters and new content in those chapters. Do you really want them to stop doing that and every six months go back to redo armor skins for the new classes in Droks? They HAVE made the effort to make sure that every class has armor available in the Fissure of Woe.
As it stands now they have to come up with a new map, monsters, weapons, terrain, skills, animations, sounds, music, new classes, and a plethora of other things in one year. They added an amazing amount of stuff in Factions and Nightfall. In each new chapter there is new content not only for the new classes but also new skills and armor for the core and any added classes from previous chapters. Personally that is quite enough for me.
Finally, most of the new revenue they get from game sales is not going to come from the sales of previous chapters, but off of new chapters. It makes sense for them to focus on the development of their main revenue source and not go back to add to old chapters for little or no return.

I don't think the fact they made a pre-searing title is a good arguement that they still add things in old chapters.

Horseman Of War
i think the luxon and kurzick should in fact have armors, however its not ever going to happen that we get, say imperial paragon or tyrian assassin...
but hey maybe they will make an exception for luxon/kurz - it even says that the luxons have been around the crystal desert area... never read up on any kurzik history though...
Im actually hoping chapter four will expand on Factions (meaning lux v kurz war in addition to alliance battles, competative missions or give us another one to join)

They should go back and redo all the armors to be like Nightfall and make that system universal if that is what they are pushin with nightfall. Doing so would make it easy for them to add in a new skin for any newly created class to older chapters.

[QUOTE=Imaginos]Which is of course not true as they added Sorrows Furnace for example. Also that kind of statement from them makes me SO much less inclined to support them in the future by buying another chapter. Bad PR and Bad move on thier part.QUOTE]
Accually, Sorrows Furnace was added before Factions was released, so it wasn't accually adding new content to a new chapter. It was only adding new content to the only chapter currently out.
Although it would be nice to have luxon/kurzick armor for new classes, and tryian armor for new classes, I can see why ArenaNet hasn't, and probably won't impliment it.

This issue has been beaten to death. It already came as a big surprise to most critics that Anet decided to include skills and armour for Assassins and Ritualists in Nightfall. But how much time does the Art team have to give armour to new classes in tyria remains questionable and not much is expected of them to.
If anyone remembered, it took them more than a year to update the 15k tormentor set in grotto even before factions was released and it wasnt even impressive and no one mentions it anymore. So the hope though isnt lost, isnt likely to happen also.
