There is no linux client

You could try crossover or the other windows app compatibility to see if it could run. I would alter the windows shortcut to have -dx8 -noshaders

Crossover is geared towards office apps, hench the name. A game like GW will suffer greatly in it. Cedega is your best option, but it requires a subscription.

I suggest double-boot. Create a small Window$ partition only for gaming. It's your best choice if you want to play games that require DirectX. I don't think that a GW client for Linux is on the near ANet plans. But I am waiting for the new VMWare version, hoping it will have fully supported 3D acceleration

it probably won't work well with GW. your performance will be lacklustre at best, absolutely unplayable at worse.

WINE may be free, but it's not the best at running games. In fact, can it even run a single DirectX game?

Your best bet is shelling out for Cedega, I'm afraid, but as a bonus you get updates often to handle new games.
