now that nf has been introduced and the majority of us know how "inscriptions" work, how do u think this will effect the value of rare skinned weapons for nf and previous chapters of guildwars in the months to come? im sure we'll still see the "WTS GOLD CRYSTALLINE/DWARVEN AXE 100k+XXX ECTOS", but other then those 2 weapons are the days of 100k+xx ectos weapons passing us by?

lets get the obvious out of the way first. with new chapters, most rare weapons from previous chapters will all decrease in value. having said that, there will still be some rare weapons that will sustain their value to a certain degree.

what do u think will happen to the value/cost of rare skinned weapons?

The release of Nightfall and new skins will likely effect the old rare skins more than anything. Perfect Chaos Axes, Gothic swords and axes, and eternal bows will still be just as rare as they were before inscriptions were released. If you notice in the old chapters, req8 15^50 items were not very expensive if it was a less desirable skin. Because the skins I mentioned are sought after, they will always hold a fair price as long as inscriptions are confined to Nightfall.

With each new chapter, there is always a decrease in value of the things from the old chapter simply because some of the demand is shifted into obtaining to new stuff.

Copied post: Old skins like Fellblade, Sephis Axe, Brute Sword skins all drop in Elona as inscriptable weapons. Who knows what other "Rare Tryian" skins you will see there.

I see little change in the price of Proph/Factions rare-skinned perfect weapons, but in NF, the difference in price between a rare-skinned crap mod and rare-skin perfect mod will be not much, and the difference in cost should only be that of the inscriptions alone

of course this is totally logical and very obvious

I'm agreeing with this also. Some greens might be 100k+ for a little while but I really can't any NF gold being worth 100k+ due to the high drop rate and ease at which you can get perfect inscriptions.

It's the skin that makes an item's worth and the inherent mods (which are no inscriptions) that make it even more expensive. True, perfect inscriptions are not hard to come by so things won't cost nearly as bad as stuff in Prophecies and Factions, but the importance of the matter still lies in just how easy the weapon is to find. Having an inventory full of perfect inscriptions won't mean anything if you can't find the weapon to buy or to drop from your time playing. It's still too early to truly know the rarity of certain skins anyways.

There are Max Req. 7 items with Inscription slots.
If a skin has a low enough drop rate, perfect versions of that skin should still be rare.
Staves still have 4 axis of perfection (Recharge, Energy, Damage and Requirement), so, at equivalent skin rarity, it will be harder to find a perfect staff than a perfect martial weapon or focus/wand/shield.

So, old skins that now drop with inscription slots should lose most of their value.
And, there should be a market for rare items in Nightfall unless all the skins are common.
