Insignias: they add an "inherent" bonus to armor, such as damage reduciton, +xxarmor while hexed, ect. They are currently Nightfall Campaign only, which is ok for now.
The Bonus: you can now select the skin you want, and buy the bonuses later! Less decision between looks vs. functionality.
The Problem: Many players have 15k armor (this includes Prophecies, Cantha, and Obsidian 15k) that has "bad" stats. Or in other words, stats that seemed good at the time, but are largely useless now (Bonelace armor, anyone?). Currently, we cannot apply insignias on older armor.
The Solution: a massive armor update that changes the "-3 damage reduction" or whatever to an Inscription. You can salvage them off, re-apply them, ect. It would most likely require Anet to update all armor names, such as "Obsidian Ascalon Leggings" to "XXX Obsidian Leggings of XXX". This would require lots of time on Anet's part, but perhaps they could take a break from the Weekend events and update the armor. It would make MANY fans happy who crafted the wrong armor.
EXAMPLE (XXX= inscription slot):
15k Tormentors Leggings of Superior Vigor- before update
Grotto XXX Leggings of Superior Vigor- after update
15k Bonelace Leggings Of Superior Vigor- before update
Citadel XXX Leggings of Superior Vigor- after update
15k Ascalon Obsidian Leggings of Superior Vigor- before update
Obsidian XXX Leggings Of Superior Vigor- after update
15k or 1.5k Gladiators Kurzick Leggings of Superior Vigor- before update
Vasburg XXX Kurzick Leggings Of Superior Vigor- after update
15k or 1.5k Gladiators Luxon Leggings of Superior Vigor- before update
Leviathan XXX Luxon Leggings of Superior Vigor- after update
1.5k Gladiators Leggings Of Superior Vigor- before update
Droknar's XXX Leggings Of Superior Vigor- after udpate
15k or 1.5k Canthan Gladiators Leggings Of Superior Vigor- before update
Kaineng XXX Leggings Of Superior Vigor- after update
ect, ect.
Thoughts?
Armor Insignias: Make them retroactive, please

If they don't do it now, count on them adding it when Ch4 is out. Remember material storage, stated to be GWF exclusive? With the release of GWN, they added it to all chapters.
It is a tricksy marketing ploy, to allow NF to sell better, and when NF is no longer their prime focus, they can release it to the rest of the game, and make up some other exclusive feature for Ch4.
But please, please, add this before that.
And while you're at it, inscriptions on weapons from all chapters would be a tremendous help as well. You don't need to make it retroactive, just count for all weapons found in the future. Pretty please.

/signed - I personally don't care for the armor in Nightfall. Most is pretty, well, ugly IMO. So I would like to be able to update the 15k sets I have.
I would imagine it would be no different than what Anet did with those Crimson Carapace Shields some time back. They altered the stats, and quickly added an NPC to replace it with the correct version. It was a quick fix.
Why not add an NPC to "strip" the mods from your armor set and allow the use of inscriptions? Similar effect as changing the shield. The "newly stripped" armor is really just a replacement armor set exchanged.
