The New age solo monk

With the changing of the game.. must come the changing of the player. with that said i welcome the new 135hp shield monk

First are the attributes and skillset..




Now with the skillset established you must keep in mind that this build is VERY FLEXABLE.. the whole key to this build is prot spirit, sheild of absorbtion, balths sprit,blessed aura... those are the main skills.. the rest can be modified to suit your needs. you also MUST have a 30% blessed aura and a 20% enchant weapon. because if you dont shield of absorbtion will run out to early..and that is never fun

i have tested this build in a 2 man uw and heavy degen run aswell using the following builds:





Now with that outa the way.. lets explain how this build works. well the first thing you will notice is that this is neither the 605 hp or 55 hp monk.. like i said this is a whole new spin on the solo monk...

now you would think that with 135 hp you would take more than 5 damage. because if you take 10% outa 135.. its more than 10.. thus you would be taking at least 5 damage per hit... but with prot spirit and shield of absorbtion on you will never take any damage at all.. take it as you will.. i just call it an oprotunity.

Now i will provide a screenshot of the build in action.. to solidify the fact that this build truly is exceptional i did it in the most intterupt heavy location i could think of.. just take a look at all the malestrom hits..




Now why do i use mending when there really is no need cause i dont take damage.. cause im crazy like that..

why do i feel that this is a new build.. because i have been working this build seince day one.. and i feel that it is a very undiscoverd build.. 135 hp and 0 damage.. thats pretty incredible if you ask me..

This build ruins in uw the key is to fire your sheild and your sv before you get to any mobs with a possibility of intterupts..

this build will work in uw with both a famine ranger and a ss necro.. but tell him to bring some more damage skills cause you got the sv av combo.

i will eventually get around to farming some later nightfall areas when i get unlazy and go through some missions..

and i also have some words for anet... go ahead nerf me.. i will just keep getting back up.

I actually was not happy with the crappy aggro on my demo pic.. so i made a new one that i think is much better.. if you can zoom in you can see the massive malestrom

Eh. Too bad "Shield of Absorption" is a nightfall skill.

EDIT: on a more helpful note koot didnt post that ranged attackers hold aggro 100% better then melee attackers. so farming ranged > farming melee

just more hints.

what runes/weapons do you use to get your HP down to 135

just dont use the -50 offhand.. and instead use a offhand with +30 hp

I'm just a monk nooby, but what the hell does "30% blessed aura" mean?

do you need min armor for this build to work? or will max armor be effective as well?

Could you show us the weapon you use please ?

For armor level.. try and get droks.. tats or censors works fine.. the whole reason i say that is if you loose either shield of absorbtion or even prot spirit.. you can take a few hits with that hi of an armor level.. but its not needed for the build to work..


blessed aura is a spell that increases enchant time.. 30% blessed means you need to pump at least enough into divine to get 30% longer enchants..



As for the items i use in game.. i use a rajezons(or whatever) ferver.. it is a green item.. +5 energy and +20 enchant.. it goes for about 5k nowadays

and for my offhand its a elona dessert collector item that give you +27 energy and +30hp.. i think you need to get 5 topaz crests to get it.

here is another farming spot with this build just swapped out mantra of resolve for breeze to counter bleeding... i got some nice golds outa here

i belive the closest town is somthing called yohlon passage or somthing.. dont pay much attention to nightfall.. i will have more nightfall farming spots when i get father into the game.. lol this is pretty much as far as i have gotten.

very easy farm.. you can make it all the way to the first boss.. maybee more i dont know never really tried to go further..

where do you get the +27 energy offhand? as for now im using teh totem axe and wenslauss chalice. awesome build though, if i wasnt at work i would definitly be trying it out

Just to keep myself as annoying as possible.. here is another farming spot outside of heros audience.. just take out blessed sig. and mantra of resolve.. throw in ballenced stance and doylyaks... these guys have dropped some good rares and a ruby or two for me in the past.

this is funny aggro becuase they are ranged ... but they run right up on ya to attack.. so it looks like a ton of mele..ahh the good old days..

tried this build in UW, works ok, i died cos i havn't get used to the build ^^.
also tried with shiro'ken.
somehow Shield of Absorption can get interrupted easily even with 1/4 sec castin o.O. Obviously i wasnt stack castin skills....
any1 has the same prob?

Correct me if i m wrong... doesn't the mobs run away from the SoJ ?

Sorry maybe i overlooked something, tanking is quite managable for a monk n warrior... Its the "easy n fast" killing part that hits farming hard.

in his discription, he said that SoJ was not a primary skill of this build
