I'd imagine this would work just as well as the Trade channel.

That couldn't be farther from the truth. The more they sell, the more they make. And by this I mean, it cost the X amount of dollars to develop each chapter, once they recoop that money, they start making more profit. Yes there are upkeep costs with servers, events, patches, etc. but in comparison to the development cost where they are making no money but spending it....they love selling copies of older games, they make more from them.

Sort of like Xbox when they first came out, MS lost $$ on each one sold...they made all the money from the games.

I imagine that most people that purchase NF as their first GW game will eventually buy the other chapters once they realize how much they're missing.

I bought Factions first, then went back and bought prophecies and preordered NF. However, the main reason I bought Prophecies was for some skills i wanted to incorporate into my builds, not for the gameplay. IMO players who purchase NF first, if they are "hardcore" players will go back and purchase the other campaigns (most likely factions IMO) for skills or the storylines, but the casual player probably will not. could be wrong, but thats just the general feeling i get.

Yeah you are right, I started with Factions aswell bought Prophercies for all the skills.

After NF I'm hardly in Cantha or Tyria but that might be because I'm still busy on exploring it, although I won't see myself in Tyria much unless a friend/guildmate needs help going trough the continent with a new character.

We shall see where time brings us,

I'm loving NF and I have to admit, Elona is everything I thought it would be and more. But Tyria is home. I'll always go back there.

I've always though Droknars as a place for trading high level equipment, Lion's arch for materials and various weapon mods and Ascalon for the rest of the newbies

Tyria is home but I doubt I will hit droks for a while if ever..droks only served two purposes..

1> Pit Stop on chest runs
2> Buy/sell materials

Well, i'm taking my time with NF (just got to the realm of crazy-craziness full of crazy things), but I think my dervish will find a home in Tyria. I have no desire to play through Cantha again (hated it, it forced me to AB), but Tyria should be fun as a Dervish

Yes, that's how I felt in Everquest. Eventually most of the older zones became nearly abandoned as well. Ah, the memories.

It's hard to continually add new areas in a MMORPG and not have the old ones become gradually obsolete, but it's definitely possible and something I really hope future games can accomplish. For Guild Wars this isn't as much of a problem, as it's more of a strategy/combat game than an RPG. I would really like to become fully immersed within a fantasy world, though, for any actual MMORPG that I play in the future. The first two years of Everquest definitely offered some of the most excited game playing I've ever experienced and it would be great to have that feeling rekindled again.
