How come the price of Nightfall, Factions and Prophecies are more expensive in the official store than on amazon? (£5 (25%) cheaper on amazon UK) Don’t they want users to use the store?
Also why can't we just buy a key to upgrade accounts, that would help save the environment by producing less plastic & paper and of course should be cheaper to buy because there’s no postage or plastic or paper or packaging!

If you have a Credit Card and an active GW account, you can buy chapter's in the online GW Store. Log into your account and then go to the store.. where you can buy and unlock chapter's via that.
I don't know however if you'll be sent out the chapter's box/packaging if you buy the chapter this way.. and no idea how cheap/expensive buy'ing this way is compared to other stores (ie amazon, eb games, etc).

The Pointless
You never recieve a boxed product when buying from the GW store. All purchases are automatically attached to your account, and you will download all content associated with that campaign.
On the subject of postage: Somehow they'll hide that 30-odd pence in the price...
(What? I don't use Royal Mail as often as I used to...)

As for why the online store is more expensive, I think Amazon, etc would get a little PO'd if ANet started undercutting them. Infact, they'd probably stop selling it altogether.
Former Ruling
Easy.
1) You DONT get any packaging and such, so you are saving paper by buying it in the store.
2) Stores have to discount pricing on stuff to move the inventory out..They bought it from the publishers and they lose that money if its never bought so they shallow some of the profits and reduce the cost just to move the product. The official store doesnt have this problem since its the source and they dont lose anything if you dont buy it from them, they only gain profit if you do.
3) If the official store undercut the prices the physical stores have to charge to make profit, then they'd drop the game from their inventory because it'd never sale, they'd be wasting money.
