rubies and saphire

where do rubies and sphires drop? are they random? ive never came across either in 7 months of playing

Id say its a random drop. Ive gotten a few in FoW and UW, a boss in Cantha dropped one, and a low level char in Tyria dropped one.

There are Ruby Djiins, Sapphire Djiins, and Diamond Djiins but none dropped anything for me yet.

Will savaging Ruby Daggers ever yield rubies?

Also; there's a quartermaster in the Kodash Bazaar who will take 7 trade contracts for one ruby/sapphire/diamond.

I've been told that the ruby daggers do have a small chance to yield rubies, but have yet to see this either in game or even in screenshot (I've expert salvaged over 40 now - good think I actually collect glittering dust too)
but in general, they do tend to drop in FoW on the beach as well as earth element related critters *more* frequently than never I've found.

every monster in nf/cantha/ tyria has a very very very very very very very very very small chance of dropping a ruby or sapphire. FoW has a slightly better chance i believe.

I have gotten 3 ruby drops and 1 sappire. All came from fow.

yeah every monster has a super tiny chance......I actually got one from Spiritgarden and another from Arbor Earthcall, but I believe every other one came from UW, maybe one in ToPK

Yup. There was a time where I even got two rubies on the Canthan map with the Captured Son. Really didn't expect them to drop there

Apparently, salvaging the respective Djinn essence has a small chance of being that jewel as well.

If this is all super rare for it to drop... why are ectos so much higher?

Ive only had around 10 rubies and about 5 or so sapphires in my 17 months playing and they have all come from FOW forest farming or beach farming or UW 55/SS duo. They must have a rarer chance to drop then ecto n shards cause ive sure farmed more ecto and shards than a pretty little blue or red gem that up until nightfall had no apperent use (<--- run on sentance :P)

I have had them drop from the elementals around Ascalon City in post-searing.

I've never seen any rubies/sapphires drop outside uw or fow (except prohecies beta). I farmed lots of various places, found ~20 black dyes, even more Monstrous parts but not a single ruby / sapph. I soloed those Ruby and Sapphire djinns quite much, expert salvaged all drops for materials and still got none. If they really can give gems (directly or from salvaging from their drop) the chances are very low, under 1%

Or your extremely unlucky not to get one... lucky for the other things though (black dyes only ever had one drop for me).

I've gotten at least 3 Rubies and or sapphires from outside Sardelac Sanitarium. All enemies have a very small chance of dropping them, as was said before. Some just seem to have a higher chance (like Boulder Elementals).

I got a ruby from a Charr outside Old Ascalon heading towards Gate Keeper Holis. The thing is the Charr where not suppose to be there in the first place, so that alone was a shock, then when the Ruby dropped!!! I have gotten 2 Saphires, one from the Local Quarter, and one from the Foriegn Quarter missions in Factions. That's all in the 15 months of play, across two accounts.

Got a Ruby from Warden farming. The run right afterwards yeilded a Sapphire. Otherwise, I've yet to get one from any other place.

ive never done a fow run without seein 3 saphires and a ruby drop.
