Finally finished Factions!

So many Nightfall threads here... so I'm going to make a Factions thread:

I finally finished Factions with my Necro (Me, R, Rit secondaries)! Yay!

I had bought it a few months ago, played until getting out of Kaineng city, and then stopped -- I hated the city, playing through it was just not fun and it just burned me out.

Anyway, I picked it up again a month ago, and finished it, and I have to say it actually turns out to be quite fun after the city.

Some thoughts:

Kaineng city: Hated it! Though now that I've finished and am not forced to play through the city, I find myself enjoying farming in the city for plagueborn items -- how ironic!

Jade Sea: Fantastic idea! very original! Loved it! I really liked that the Luxons made money off selling sea creatures encased in Jade... very imaginative, and yet very real. Whoever thought of that idea should get a raise!

Echovald Forest: I liked the big cathedral style windows... but overall, I found the forest to be a bit dark (especially if playing during the day).

Main storyline: Just crap. Not very original. There were lots of places where the storyline could have gone to make it more interesting. For example, who was that fortune teller? what were her motivations? Or, it would have been interesting if the emperor was planning to kill Shiro, and was Shiro was innocent in that he was just trying to save himself.

Other storylines: Some of the quests, especially the ones with running storylines were really fun. For example there were the black moa quests, the kill-the-sea monster quests, the Dredge quests (Moleneaux). Of course they all boiled down to "kill XXX", or "bring XXX to YYY", or "find ZZZ", but if you read the dialogue, the short storylines were pretty fun (though that explorer in the sea monster quest was really an ass!).

I really liked the siege turtle/hatchling idea for the Luxons, and the guardians (with those Kurzicks who sacrificed to become guardians) for the Kurzicks.

It was nice to have so many of those repeatable quests... it was really fun in the duelist quest in the Echovald forest to aggro Oni and encourage them to kill all the duelists while they still were friendly -- then just pick up the reward after the Oni were done!

The Imperial Commendations, Equipment Requisitions, and Luxon equivalent (Totems?) were nice ideas as alternative quest rewards.

The missions: except for the two where you're forced to team up, they were nice. Most were pretty easy though, if you used full henchie teams (I tried to use minimum party sizes). The last mission was really fun -- it took more than a few failed builds and a lot of trial and error before figuring out a strategy to get Shiro. (Hint: three Star Servants owns! especially since the other Kunnavang skills usually just get wasted by the henchies at the wrong time).

Anyway, time for a little farming (I really enjoy thinking up farming builds) -- don't need the money (i merch everything), but it would be nice to get a cool plagueborn offhand item.

...and then I'll get Nightfall in a week or two -- see you all in Elona!

lol out of my 11 characters, i've only finished factions once lol had the game since the beginning - but i too was burnt out with the endless cantha feeling.

lol you'll enjoy NF - it's definitely a different feel.

i finished factions with all 4 of my chars in the same week

I did factions with 3 of my 7 chars. 2 times for a exalted aegis :P.

I finished factions very late. factions sucked =[

I still haven't finished factions, kinda boring. I went down the Kurzick side of the map only and finished off Shiro. Haven't bothered with the Luxon side, I hope Elona is much better once I get Nightfall which should be within a few days @__@

My characters that have not finished Factions are Rt and Sin.
My Tyrians all have Prot of Cantha (and Tyria).

I learned to like the missions during the protectors attempts.

I'm still not sure whether or not to delete my Sin (but I tried W and don't like and just don't feel like Ele). So perhaps he will finish Factions someday (after I have finished Nightfall, that is).

I finished factions on my ele and warrior. Gonna go for protector title one day...

I've finished Factions with my W/R, R/Mo, Rit/N, Mo/E, and N/Me. I'm at Raisu Palace with my A/W, and I still have 3 more characters to go (just started all 3 when Nightfall came out).

Boring, yes, but I managed to complete it with 5 out 6 (before NF).
