Title Suggestion: How "Kind of a Big Deal" should have been

As it is now, Kind of a Big Deal is a characterbased title, obtained for maxing 5 (10 for "People Know Me") on that character.

However, this gives a bad representation of how the person is as a player. Why?

Say, Bill loves his first character. So much, in fact, he has only ever played on that character. He also loves to max titles. Thus, he has all protector and explorer titles on his character.

Bob, however, likes to have multiple characters of different professions. He has 2 characters in each chapter. One for Protector titles, and one for Explorer titles. He has maxed the same titles as Bill. Only on 6 different characters. But that is just because he prefers having many different characters.

So Bob, who is just as dedicated a title-maxer as Bill, does not gain the KoaBD title. Bill, however, who is not putting more effort into his title-maxing, but instead has it on the same character, gains the title.

See where I am going?

It might be intended this way. That KoaBD should represent how much time you put into that character, compared to others who might spread their playtime over many other characters.
However, I believe the title would be of more use to people, if it simply displayed how avid an titlemaxer you were, and not only on a single-character basis.

Thus, my suggestion is this:
Change the KoaBD title track from displaying maxed titles on a SINGLE CHARACTER, to displaying the number of UNIQUE maxed titles on the WHOLE OF YOUR ACCOUNT.
So, for example if you had all Tyrian and Canthan Grandmaster on 2 different characters, you would have 2 KoaBD points. However, if you were to get a duplicate of maxed titles, say Tyrian Protector on two different characters, it would still only be 1 KoaBD point.

I hope you all see what I mean with this suggestion. Was a bit hard putting it into writing. And I hope you can see my logic in this. I know a lot of people who diverse their playtime over many different characters. One for Tyrian stuff, one for Elonian stuff, and so forth. Those will have less chance of getting KoaBD than those satisfied with one character through all their time in GW. I personally find this an unneccesary imbalance.

This also allows Legendary Survivor and Defender of Ascalon to count towards KoaBD at the same time

Yes, your point is a good one..
but 6 charcters can be famous for the same deed at the same time unless they all did it togther which they didnt

Kinda crazy idea here, but it might be cool if you Account was a family, you choose a Surname for your charcters to go by, and then pick First names as you go, that way titles can be shared a "family deal"

thus all the charcters can carry the titles without the fuss of bending time and stuff.

Problem is... Noone gives a hoot about Roleplaying in GW. Neither do they if it's your CHARACTER that is famous? So what, it's about you and your account. They even encourage this, by having guild membership shared by all characters on the account. And PvP rank. In WoW, rank is character bound. In GW, it is account bound.

Of course I am not suggesting you should get the Protector title on characters who has not done the missions. Nor explorer. Simply because, well, they have not been there, done that.

KoaBD makes sense to be accountwise. You, as a accountowner, have completed a crapload of titles. Why would others care much if you did it on the same character, or 3 different ones? That doesn't prove anything to others, other than you like a character more than the others. It is favoritising of people with a single character. It encourages play with only one character, which I am sure ANet doesn't want. I am assured they want people to try as many different primary professions as possible.

Look at fame. Does it make sense for it to be characterbased? Would people care if you got all your fame on the same character. (Perhaps with the old system, but not the new one, where the only thing you choose on a PvP char is primary, the rest can be changed on a whim).
Would people care if you got all your titles on the same character, or would they just be impressed that you managed to max so many different ones?

I repeat. Does it make it any more challenging, or make it any more impressive if you did all the titles on one char instead of more? Well, perhaps the dedication to the single character is impressive, but that has nothing to do with ingame feats/richness.

There might be a misunderstanding. As I said, this should of course not raise the counter more than once per title. So you can't just get Protector of Cantha on 5 different characters to get the title. You would have to get Protector of Cantha on one, Protector of Tyria on another, a 3rd title on a third, and 2 other titles on a last char.

Do you still think it removes the challenge? You still have to do the same accomplishments with this suggestion. The only difference will be:
You will have the choice to spread the different accomplishments onto different characters.

There's no challenge to it as is. It's just time consuming. If anything this would bring more of a challenge because in some cases it would show that people are taking more time to focus on multiple characters and make multiple characters strong instead of just having one that they focus on and then try to make it seem like their one character is superior cause they do everything with it.

Agreed. PvP titles promote the player and the account. Why should PvE be all about the character? They don't even provide any real basis for a strong Roleplaying theme. No character profiles, no rules for naming other than nothing rude or profane, barely anything to do besides fighting or getting titles (ie, no tradeskills), etc. And now that some titles are providing bonuses, it clearly shows that ANet favors people that work hard on one character and does everything with him/her instead of people that like to have multiple characters and take the time to get them all through the campaigns.
