runes
OP Shizznat
ok i have a level 20 e/me with complete drok armor, im going for a pyromancer nuker, but im completely lost on what runes to get and if they stack and etcetc. could somebody please tell me what runes i should get?
Hyprodimus Prime
I use sup fire, major energy storage and sup vigor. The rest 2 can be anything, most minors are really cheap now. I out the elemental Superior rune on the headpiece so that if I switch from nuker to air spike I just switch the head piece.
Bark
No, runes do not stack. And also, i'd suggest you use a major vigor instead of a superior, since the superior one only gives 9 more health for those MANY extra thousands pieces of gold.
qazwersder
I run a Superior fire rune on a flames eye headpiece for the same reason as hyprodimus prime. A major energy storage and a superior vigor. The major energy storage isnt really required, you could just use a minor (more health), when you run dual attunements you will find the difference between the 2 doesnt really matter. Like bark says, just use a major vigor if you cant afford the superior.
LightningHell
Use superior if you can afford it.
I'd suggest running either full minors or a sup in Fire.

i use sup for fire, minor for rest + a major vig.
theres new runes in nightfall, +2 energy which u might like.

Since the NF release I run the following:
Sup element rune on headpiece
Major vigor
Minor Energy Storage
2 Runes of Attunement

Major vigor
Minor Energy Storage
2 Runes of Attunement
LightningHell
I disagree on running Attunements. Health is imo more important than +2e. Prodigy refills my bar anyway.

matter of build/taste really...

If you're focusing on pve: best vigor rune you can afford, superior fire, minor energy storage, 2x vitae.
Xeno The Fallen
Ok this is what I use. Major Vigor, Major Fire, Minor Enery, Vitae, and then just one of the Runes the reduce a condition. It works quite well.

For straight pyromancy, Minor/Major/Superior Fire (of choice), Major/Superior Vigor (by pocketbook), Minor Energy Storage, two Vitae runes.
Exceptions depend on your elite. Some energy elites benefit from a higher max energy (Mind Blast, Second Wind). In those cases, consider Attunement runes.
Major Energy Storage is the biggest pile of crap in the game. Hitting 12 for Master of Magic, Ether Renewal, or Ether Prism on an attribute heavy build is the only reason to use that rune.

Condition-reducing runes are useless in pve. I like reduces cripple/bleeding when flagging, mostly due to You're All Alone! Warriors.
The last time I had a superior energy storage rune, I had a month of in-game experience under my belt and thought it was awesome to have over 100 base energy with my collector fire staff. if you need energy that badly, focus swap.

Actually if you aren't using any Energy Storage linked skills, cut the Minor Energy Storage rune for another Vitae. With triple vitaes you should be able to take a +armor suit and still have a solid HP pool. Of course double vitaes will likely do the same thing, but more health is always goodness.

I'd agree. However, I run prodigy and I already feel 1 spec lower than I'd like with 8 in energy storage, so dropping down to 7 feels....weird.
if you're running a searing flames build though with some sort of utility though, glowing gaze+attunement+gole is going to keep you high on energy, so you can easily drop it down to pump up an extinguish or something.

If you're running Prodigy definitely take the minor ES, especially if it'll take you from 7 ES to 8 ES (for an additional 2 seconds). I'll take the minor ES to go from 8 to 9 as well. I skimp on the Prodigy enough, I'm not going to go further for meager energy returns.
But on Searing Flames guy, yeah, who cares, drop the ES rune and take more health. You want the Superior Fire anyway so your health is going to be kinda sketchy.

MINOR Energy Storage unless you're, as said above, running Prodigy at 7/8 +2.
Thom Bangalter
Anything above minor energy storage is terrible, because -35 or -75 health is not worth anywhere from 3-6 energy.

Your shopping list should be:
Superior or Major Vigor (depending on your bankroll)
Superior Fire Magic
EITHER Minor Energy Storage or Vitae (depending on whether or not you have skills linked to Energy Storage)
2x Vitae Runes
