Sousuke or Jin, that is the question

Hi ^^

If you take Acolyte Sousuke, and you want to regret it, you can take back Jin? or when you take one the chance of get the other hero ends?

Btw, in your opinion, which one is better? I think Sousuke is smarter, but I dunno which one is better... really.

Another question: if you take Master of Whispers over Magrid, you can complete the game? and if you take Magrid over Master of Whispers, do you can too? what is the difference?

Thanks.

I belive someone has said that you can get quests where you can get rest of the heroes you didn't take after you finish the storyline.

when you beat the game theres a long walk loaded with npcs a la factions, and fi you didnt get one (or both, as i didnt bother with either hero) you can simply talk to them and get the "gain___" quest. its posted in another thread but here it is for ya

which one to take depends on whether you want to run a ranger build or an ele build. Thats all. I took Jin and made her into a melandru's ranger and haven't regretted it. Sosuke smart? I guess if you say so. I use both sometimes in Hero battles and Sosuke doesn't seem very smart to me.

I regret picking Sousuke instead of Jin when i started my Elonian elementalist.
I didn't expect i'd have so many other nukers available, and no ranger heroes (didn't pick Margrid either, didn't notice she had a green exclamation mark above her head as well)...

It has made the game a bit harder for myself, since i totally forgot how powerful a ranger can be (think Broad Head Arrow)... but i'm at the Gate of Madness, still using the good ol' 3 nukers, 1 warrior, 4 monks or 4 nukers/4monks team setup...

I've already taken Jin for my assassin though, and i'll take Margrid as well (barrage, trapper, anti-caster, touchie...) when i get to it (haven't seen the other missions yet anyways, and i hardly use the Master of Whispers anymore)

I took Jin when I went through with my ritualist. On my ranger I just picked Sousuke because I read about using him as an uber E/Me interrupter. I figure that with me on my ranger and Sousuke we can lock down any caster.

We'll see how it goes...

It's really all about preference. You don't get to change your mind, the pick is final. You're stuck with that pick until you beat the final mission, and then you'll be able to get the one you didn't pick.

I personally prefer Jin for the Broad Head Arrow interrupter.

Yeah, love those AI interrupters.

I have an ele hero too now (the centaur) but he doesn't seem to be very clever at his skill usage or energy management. He uses Glyph of Renewal on a spell that recharges in 5 seconds. And every fight he gets himself down to less than 10 energy and exhaustion too.

The ranger on the other hand does consistent damage, never runs out of energy (love expertise ) and interrupts spell after spell with Savage Shot, while also dazing. I am a bit annoyed that she dazes absolutely everybody though, even warriors with no spells, or a Mandragor Slither that already dazed itself lol. That's the price you pay for not having a real person that can think.

She also dazes the Mandragor Imps which can be nasty (Plague Touch), but I found out shift+click will stop a hero from using a skill, so not such a problem now.

I took Jin. Expertise is AI friendly, as are plenty of ranger builds. Eles take a bit more caution and energy management which I can't be bothered to micro manage. You can use their energy storage for monking or interrupting but I prefer necros for that. As long as you aren't trying to use a bunch of 25 en spells or ones with exhaustion, I find that the energy recovery of soul reaping is better than having a big energy total. Drag along animate bone minions for twice the soul reaping effects, you won't have any energy problems...

I took Sousuke...I and don't regret it...One of them now had Meteor Shower and when he casts it, it's like "Did anyone ask for a plate of PWND?".

I did notice one CLASS comment sousuke comes out with...I was doing Tahnnakai Temple yesterday with Heroes (got masters btw...failed with a human group)...and i noticed Sousuke saying "That went bang good. That went bang REAL good"...cracked me up

One small comment regarding Sousuke's intelligence is that sometimes he casts meteor shower on stupid things. I was taking a character to Shing Jea down the Saoshang Trail... Sousuke decided that the ULTIMATE overkill would be to cast Meteor Shower on that lvl 0 Mantid Monitor Hatchling just out of Seitung Harbour.

I took Jin (as a R/Me power-interrupter) and Master of Whispers (as a curse-master) and my guild-mate took Sousuke and Magrid. This enables us to mix and match our troupe to suit any situation.

I believe there is at least one more "choice" between 2, a warrior and a mesmer... I'm taking the W, as I played a W/Mo (W/R some of the time) in Tyria and have several elite to give him) and my guildie knows mesmer skills well.

Ugh, I can't stand Jin, the lil RR(retarded ranger) always charged headlong into battle a mile away before I was ready, however I was lucky enough to be blessed by choosing Souske and having my friend choose Jin, which is also hilarious since he gets pissed off when the groups break aggro from FS especially since hes the Dervish (I'm Paragon) and has to chase around all the lil critters. Ah laughter at others expense, what glory!

I haven't had any trouble with Jin running after enemies far away. I've had that problem with Koss (was capping avatar of balthazar, and was about an agro bub outside fort when koss ran INTO the fort to fight the acolyte) so I think it's more of a problem with heroe AI than Jin. My experiences with Jin are good so far. She hasn't died once yet, and savage shot/distracting shot combo makes for a good deal of interrupts. Sousuke seems about as strong as Zhed. Zhed looks cooler IMO though ^_^ Since Zhed is storyline, I went with Jin for most of my characters. Doesn't matter in the end though, cause I'll get them all eventually... Gotta Catch 'em All!

Thanks. You can finish the game either way, no matter whos quest did you pick, there are just different paths in the storyline. Anyway you can do the missions you've skipped by choosing between Margrid or Master anytime afterwards.
And after the last mission you can get all the heroes you've missed. For example if you've missed Norgu's/Goren's quests (as the're not primary), you can get both of them after the final mission easily by just talking to them and completing some simplistic errand quests.

You can do them before too...
No need to wait till you can aqcuire all heroes.
Just find someone who took the other 'fork' and you can do the mission

I love Jin. I have her and Margrid set up as twin Barragers with Savage and Distracting. They have different utility skills to complement each other. I don't get to use them together often, but I love it when I can.

Jin is my Ranger wing shooter. I built her as a crippling/poison ranger,while i use interupts and traps.The builds are as follows;

[skill=card]Troll Unguent[/skill][skill=card]Forked Arrow[/skill][skill=card]Savage Shot[/skill][skill=card]Apply Poison[/skill][skill=card]Crippling Shot[/skill][skill=card]Dust Trap[/skill][skill=card]Keen Arrow[/skill][skill=card]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

That is Jin's current build.

[skill=card]Troll Unguent[/skill][skill=card]Distracting Shot[/skill][skill=card]Savage Shot[/skill][skill=card]Punishing Shot[/skill][skill=card]Barbed Trap[/skill][skill=card]Dust Trap[/skill][skill=card]Flame Trap[/skill] and the Sunspear res signet(can't remember the exact name )

My ranger's build.

Good damage and back to back interupts,snaring and degen...we make an awesome team,Jin and I. I can't wait to get the next ranger hero. Can anyone say trap team?

I'd say whichever 1 you pick, make sure you use both that hero and the other 1 of its class at least. Ranger spike is working fine for me with Aidan, Jin, Marge and me w/ FW and Winno on the team. (with the optional Winter and Kindle vs Titans )

Just like using a duo of Searing Flames/Liquid Flames eles would probably work if you were a caster too. Still leaves you room for a BHA ranger.

always picked jin over sousuke for some reasons :
1-she's cuter (lol)
2-as an interrupt, she does far better than most human player would thanks to ai lightning reflexes (captain mwende at consulate docks with lvl 13 characters is just a joke while i'm about sure i would hate him to death if i chose sousuke in same setup)
3-damage wise, there's always a way to make use of a ranger or anything else such as henchies, whereas good interrupts is most likely to be lacking. (broad headed arrow rules)
4-you get the opportunity to have an el hero later (didn't know it with my first nf character but hey that was a good surprise)

that's why i now always pick jin and master of whispers as i progress in nf campaign with any character.

There isn't really much use for a 2nd Necro been as it really does just waste a hero slot. Taking both Ele heros still means you can get Margrid for interrupting. Just like taking both Ranger heroes still leaves you with a necro. The variations you can get with 2 eles or 2 rangers is much more useful than with 2 necros. SS and MM can only get you so far.

Olias is tyria only I think, so not everyone has him. Though you're right about having two full necros, only time I had both along was killing shiro, cause its so much quicker. Otherwise I run olias as MM. I don't really use whispers much, though I have him as a secondary caster, just soul reaping and whatever I need for a secondary, monking, interrupts, minor nuking. Is useful as an orders necro but I find that overkill for pve.

My Canthan Ranger went with Jin, because two rangers are better than one.

I like playing dual Barrage/Pet rangers, and you can give Jin Favorable Winds and Revive Animals and that frees up two slots on my build for interrupt and needling shot.
