sick of guilds what can i do?

is there any guilds out there with actual active members? is there a guild out there that does all game playing i mean pve, pvp and so on? is there a guild out there that doesn't cost me money to stay a member? is there actual "helpful" guilds?

i've been a member of a guild with friends and family i know in real life. i've been in guilds that have recruited me from the looking for guild post on these forums. i've been recruited from towns in game. for all but the first one the info i was told was wrong. what i thought was the best is these guilds had 50 members or more that were "active" but yet only 10 max were ever on at any time. and at least half of these members were not logged in at least a month or more. very active indeed.

and when i left these guilds either the person who recruited me or the leader would pm me in game to ask why. and when i told them cause they lied about the guild i would just get cursed at.

so how does one go about finding a guild that does what they want to do? and has actual active members that are actually active? i'm tired of the trial and error of finding a guild. is there a better way to finding a guild?

and no, i know what most of you are thinking and i'm not going to start my own guild. i don't know much about the game yet so i'm still learning. i also have never done any pvp or gvg or anything other than pve. so how can i truly be a leader if i know nothing about the game?

is there maybe a guild listing somewhere? maybe with info on whether guilds are recruiting? anything other than the normal ways i've come to know (i.e. spammers, the looking for guild post)

and to the moderators i'm not posting this to find a guild. i am posting this to find other ways to finding a guild. since all the ways i know are useless. like the looking for guild post or talking to online recruiters.

Actually I don't think you can find what you want.

I made mine, everyone is almost always log, but the 390k For the Hall can't be found only by the leader. So sometimes I ask money. (But they aren't oblige.)

But anyway, keep in mind that 10 member active on 25-40 is kinda great (for 50 I'd say 20 but.)

You're really in an interesting predicament. The most common means of guilds finding members aren't working for you as a prospective member of said guilds. My suggestion would be to just adventure on your own for a bit and if you happen to run across a group comprised mostly of the same guild, and you like how things worked out in that group, talk to them about their guild.

This leads into the second suggestion, work up a series of interview questions to ask their recruiter. Make sure that your prospective guild knows what you're looking for and that you're not going to settle for less then that. If they don't give you satisfactory answers to your questions then end the interview and continue on with your adventuring.

It won't be easy, and you can't expect to find a guild your first day, or even week, doing this. You will, however, be more likely to find a guild that is honest, friendly, fun, and has most if not all of the qualities you're looking for.

Its also hard for Guild Leaders to find active members to recruit. Its a never ending circle.

You seem to be interested in doing both PvE and PvP. With all the Alliances out now I suggest you look for a guild in an alliance that has guilds from ALL aspects of the game - PvE, PvP, Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall (if you want have all 3 campaigns.) Make sure the guild you are getting into is friendly and helpful, if you aren interested in learning new things say "Do you have members who are skilled in point a. b. c. and d. and would be willing to teach me?"

The questions for recruiters is hands down the best way to find what you are looking for. Personally I'm a person who uses proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and such things of that nature when I type (or best I can with my knowledge) so if my recruiter says things like "our glidu is teh ub3R pwng!!@!@[email protected]!" then I know right away I'm not going to join them.

I typically (not always but usually) ask the recruiter if I'd be able to do a trial period with the guild to see how I like it. Most of the time that would last a week and I decide from there if the guild is upholding A) the standards I was told they would and B) the standards I want. I always tell the officer about this or ask, whatever, and offer to pay my guild entrance fee. More often then not they say no.

Those are few ways to help you FIND and guild and then decide if you like them, best of luck.

or post in the thread "looking for a guild" and post what you are looking for in a guild. I check that thread whenever i can and dont pm someone unless we meet their expectations, I am sure there are guilds out there that meet your criteria.

Maintaining a good level of activity in a guild does require some effort (recruiting, events...) and some pruning (people leaving when afk for a long period).

These guilds do exist, but the better the guild, the more selective its recruiting process (especially now that the game is no longer young and fresh). Be prepared to be rejected unless you have something significant to bring to the table. Conversely, good applicants come with expectations towards their guild (activity level, playstyle, mentality, achievements). If the application process is 'I want to join' -> 'ok, invited', the guild is likely not an exciting group.

In short, good guilds are rarely recruiting on the street (read: spamming ingame). Look for guilds with a decent website/forum activity (either on their own guild site, or in large GW fan sites), or notable achievements (halls, ladder, guild of the week, well-known on fansites...), and try to join them. If all else fail, find a decent group of players, start your own guild or become an officer of yours, and try to recruit players by yourself. You'll see it's far from easy, but with enough effort and energy, it's works.

Yes there are. However an active guild may still rarely do stuff together.

Yes there are, but mixed guilds don't usually play the PvP on a very high level, as they constantly have pve players who will wish to join in the PvP action (but with little pvp experience) preventing the evolution of a regular pvp team. In the end PvP players who have good experience in pvp tend to leave for pvp guilds or they start forming for pvp through their friendslist.

Most non-random guilds do not cost money/faction to stay in them.

Not one guild I knows has its members/officers drop everything they are doing to help someone. What some guilds do is arrange a time in the future to plan help for something if its really needed.

Very good starting point, why are you not in a guild with them now? I have real life friends in GW too, but I left the solely pve guild for a mixed guild, as I was getting into pvp.

In my opinion some nice guilds do respond to these posts, checking if the members profile matches what the guild wants. BUT there are also guilds recruiting through this means who respond to EACH AND EVERY post on the thread, these guilds are more like random guilds.

Don't do that again.... officers serious about their guild don't recruit in towns.

In order to get people to join they do in fact sometimes misrepresent themselves. Sometimes not on purpose. I've had this too, the guild I started is turning out somewhat different then I thought at the beginning. I expected to do lots of FoW or other high-end pve with the guild and HA, turns out with Nightfall coming out we hardly go into FoW or any other high-end pve (we do do HA twice a week still), however this means I lied to a few recruits

Getting cursed at for leaving gives a good insight into that guild.... Most guilds do not care that much for leavers... If it was a very nice player everyone got along with those who liked playing with him add him to their friendslist.

Trial and error..... I've been in a guild with 100 members, mixed in pve/pvp, didn't like it, too much drama. Been in a 30 man guild I liked alot for 5 months, but didn't like in the end...

Indeed, and I don't recommend starting a guild of your own without knowing some friends who might join it.

I know some fine guilds, they all don't have their guild listed. They recruit people they meet and play with ingame.

Hope this gives you some courage in your quest for a good guild, especially now guilds/alliances seem to be the only community in guild wars with the addition of heroes.

in my guild we have active players, usually a steady 35-50%, but we also have members who have not logged in months, but their status is safe as a member with us. we do not kick players for not logging in, we do not ask for any sort of money from any player. we are entirely PVE based, and our alliances also share the same attitude. some of our members do PVP,GVG and AB, but it is not a requirement to maintain membership.

we help other members when help is requested or needed. we do some functions together, farm the ToPK,help complete missions, weekly parties at an alliance hall or our own, give aways(these activities do help keep the game interesting). basically we are all in this guild for one reason, to have fun. i, for one, would become extremely bored and dis-interested with this game if i was forced to faction farm, do PVP,GVG.

the only thing that i really require is my officers stay active, so when we have members on, questions can be answered,invites can be sent, etc.....


also we do not recruit by spamming it, we are actually pretty selective about who we let in, for all of our members have a distinct sense of humor that is often misunderstood. so a major requirement is the ability to laugh and laugh at yourself. becuase the real deal is this, its only a game, so have fun with it.

Check out the mega guilds in the game: e.g. XoO and AB (I'm sure there are others). I found my guild (AB) through the "guild of the week" feature on the official site. I don't know how XoO functions (b/c I've never been a member), but a few former ABers who went to XoO have told me that it's comperable.

For guilds interested in striking a nice balance between competative GvG and PvE, one method is to use the Alliance organization that the game added.

For example, our guild is organized into 4 PvE/casual GvG guilds. Anyone who is interested in our guild can join any of those guilds. We run our weekly casual GvG sessions out of those halls. After you've spent some time in the guild and if you express interest in competative GvG, you'll receive an invite to one of the guild ladder teams. These are sub-guilds of 10-14 players that have scheduled GvG days. The benefit of this organizational system is that we've created a large player base for PvE that can organize around scheduled events on our forum + alliance chat. At the same time, the more-hardcore PvPers can protect their ladder ranking by only playing out of their own hall.

Granted, the fact of the matter is that the TOP 100 teams probably GvG 3-5 days a week, whereas we only do laddered GvG on the weekend b/c of our equal interest in PvE. That still gives us about 90 games a season + the experience to hover around rank 200 (and perhaps someday we'll creep into the top 100).

Well my guild is slowing down because of eXams and I had to appoint my cousin : Seraphis as the boss...... well when I founded the guild (which was not too long ago) I made a pact that people not active for 2 weeks get kicked...... keeps the guild cool

Activity is a relative term, if you like to see the guild list full of online things when you are around, i suggest you look for a guild that recruit bots or sweat shop gold farmers, they work in shifts and dont log off and are online all the time. Cost money to join? i hope you werent serious. Being Helpful? as in baby sitting you for every quest and mission? good luck finding one.

You past statements contradict from your intentions in this quote. Failing every way possible that may have been suggested in this forums, You may want to look up if any of the top 100 guilds would sell membership on ebay (not sure if they still exist) that way you would be treated as a customer and have all your demand met while being 1337 at the same time with gold/sliver trimmed capes. well i guess i can try looking through the guilds list on this site and the main gw site. and talking to people from those guilds. maybe i'll repost on the looking for a guild post also and see what happens there. this time i'll be a little more specific in what i want in a guild.
