I found a hidden area in Pre-Searing Ascalon.

I was exploring Pre-Searing earlier today and stumbled across something interesting. I was hugging the walls, trying to get a lot of the map explored in Regent Valley, and accidentally stumbled into a cave, which lead into a sheltered valley with some ruined buildings and swamp water. The area, though quite well hidden, apparently serves no purpose.

Here's how to get to it (click pictures for huge versions):

Leave from Fort Ranik, as it is the closest outpost.

Follow the path until you see this big tree on your right.

See the river? That's where you're headed.

Head down the bank near the big tree and then toward the water.

See that mess of trees and bushes on the other side? That's the entrance.

Looks like a dead end, but rest assured you can get through.

You'll find yourself in a dark cave.

After a short run through you'll come out the other side.

The area is littered with ruins, but sadly eye candy is all you're getting. There are no NPCs or mobs in sight.

I doubt that I'm the very first person to find this, but I'm sure not everyone knows of it. Have fun exploring it yourselves.

Pre searing is really fun to explore, if you take the time to do it.

This place is called "Melandru's Garden", it's a highlight of pre-searing....along with the Barradin Hill, the ruined temple, and more

Anyways, it IS a beautiful area... just like, also in Prophecies, the area between the Temple of the Ages and Fisherman's Haven (Tears of the Fallen, for example)... those are quite nice too, even though the quests don't require you to go there.

Damn, it makes me wanna go back.

I have one char left in Pre-Sear and I remain reluctant for him to join the Academy because I have no more slots. And, Post-Sear is depressing :/

This is why I love pre searing! I strongly belive that the majority of places in guild wars suck visualy, rehashes of the same ol same ol with different props. pre searing oozes character and I will always love it

(NF is alot better with environments I must say, dont have factions)

I checked this place out a couple of days ago, and what amazes me is how such beauty can be put in a game. As said before, the jewel of Pre-Sear.

Been there many times, on many characters. Used screenies to stump guildies in a postcards game on our forums. But a word of advice... be careful with pets and/or Gwen following you. There are some narrow corners that can catch the unsuspecting sightseers unaware. Although This may not be as troublesome as it once was with the new pets/minions/npc body-blocking patch they put in.
