[Snapshot Henchman] is something I've been working on for the last couple of years. It's an (admittedly insane) idea I had back then to screenshot GuildWars. I mean, properly go for it. People thought I was nuts. My guildies shook their heads at me and didn't expect I'd get past the Northern Shiverpeaks, let alone all the way to the end of Torment.
Six thousand one hundred and ninety five screenshots, about two and a half years and god knows how many dead brain cells later, I'm calling it done. Clearly I have proven my guildies right; I'm nuts
But at least you can profit from it! In an eye-candy type way. Cos GW is pretty bloody gorgeous, yaknow. Here, have a bit of a highlights reel:
I really wish the Charr Homelands had more than just the three zones. It's absolutely stunning, nostalgia everywhere, and god the waterfalls *.*
Mourning Veil Falls is without doubt my favourite place in Cantha. Once you kill everything there, it's the most beautifully tranquil place in the continent. You can just about forget the most polluted place on that planet is only just up north a bit.
I like being arty. I had this one as my desktop for a good month or so. People forget how tranquil Kourna can be.
The Desolation, as far as screenshotting goes, can be pretty dull, all the same with grey and muted, sickly yellow, but then you hit the Poisoned Outcrops. The starkness of the black and white, with no colour or greyscale, is just gorgeous.
Torment is really interesting. It's WERID, but not in typical video game 'chaos land' type places. It's got muted colours that almost look fine but the grass is a bit to blue, the sand a bit too red, to be real. It all looks relatively normal until you look closer. That's when you realise the landscape is made out of giant bugs, or something that may once have been Abaddon's intestines. Or, in the case of the Depths of Madness. Bet you didn't notice it before, but look under that bridge on the bottom right there. Half the place is upside-down.
Everyone loves the Shiverpeaks. So much variation even in the snow. You've got quaint little Deldrimor dwarfie towns with their little Swiss chalets nestled in pretty little copses, right next to the ultimate might of the giant mountains. I'm sure most of the best views in the game come from the Shiverpeaks. Who didn't climb to the top of Beacon's Perch that first time, look at the view, and just breathe a quiet 'wow'?
Something I must admit I miss from Prophecies is how entire regions were created for literally no reason but to look pretty. This little druid's circle, or whatever it is, in Kryta never comes up in any quest, and the only way you'll reach it is if you go exploring. Stunning tho they are, the later chapters are all lacking in these little extras, the little bits that make you feel proud for having found it, like nobody else has ever been there.
I have nothing to say about this one, I just love giant disembodied stone heads.
I always like comparing these two. Krytan palms on the left, Asuraland palms on the right. That's how far we've come, ladies and gents. Where to next?
So there's your highlights package, and there are a bit over 6000 more where those came from. Do with them what you will: desktops, icons, layouts, conning a friend into the game for the pretties, the choice is yours! I'll add that whatever isn't done (dungeons, PvP stuff, the Underworld, places like that) is likely to remain untouched unless I tag along with the guildies, in which case they'll be half-arsed because I don't want to hold people up while I wait for corpses to disappear. As such, if anyone wants to make a contribution for those regions, by all means, go for it! We're all nuts here
Message from Col. Slayer: While your collection is massive and awesome, I have merged your thread with the sights thread where this post should have went from the start. All for the sake of organization it must be done. I hope you understand. Have a nice day.
Not a problem! I wasn't sure whether to put it in this thread or make a new one myself, anyway!

Those are breathtaking annarti, I especially like the one of Kourna. I find that area a bit of a blight from all the same shades of brown, but you definitely captured where it can be soothing. Most often when traveling, you don't stick your head up into the sky, and that above-head level view is where most of the beauty of the game is found. Even Old Ascalon is pretty stunning, if bleak.

I'm sure a lot of you have seen the floating chest that sometimes spawns on the soon to be knocked over Colossus outside the Ruins of Morah.

I thought I'd add my screens here. I run a blog(worldoftyria on tumblr) and I still enjoy and take screens throughout Guild Wars. And figured I'd res this thread even if nobody cares
