What's the ideal fps?
Perfected Shadow
Currently sitting at 15 on pve instances, less at towns and pvp. I think it's pretty bad. Any good advice on how to increase it?

Dont listen to him. It really depends what the problem is, alot of people once nightfall came out have had fps drops, bad lags. People say its a bug and they are working to fix it.
Im at a low fps to your not the only one. Currently at about 20+ sometimes i would go down to 3-10 fps.

turn your graphics settings to the lowest possible quality, and turn the sound quality down too. defragmenting your gw.dat can also help, as well as increasing the size of your page file. (you can search this forum for guides on how to do that)
i used to have FPS like you, now it ranges from 1-50 fps (average is about 20), so the things i suggested helped somewhat. but i think the best thing to do is, if your video card is old, upgrade your video card.. (i use ATI 9200SE, which is pretty much ancient by today's standards).. or increase your RAM. i'm no expert tho

Turning down graphics setting, as already said, is the first step. Also, what kind of connection do you have? Broadband or dial up? That could be part of it too. Personally, I look more for "smoothness" in the display, rather than a certain number. Ive had some games run fine at less than what youre getting(Dungeon Siege) on the system I had before I upgraded to what I have now(new motherboard, CPU). Also need to know your current system spec, what video/sound cards you have, what CPU, motherboard, memory, ect.

How Do I check my Fps in Guild Wars?
Ulivious The Reaper
Am i the only person that gets 15 or so frames per second and notice no difference between 15 and 70 frames per second, its the same speed in my eyes... (i'll get 15 fps while fighting and ~60-70 fps while in towns) can't tell a difference, i think my pc is just stupid

I haven't noticed any difference at all since I installed Nightfall. Same settings, everything maxed out with 8x FSAA and 16x Ansio, but still getting a constant 80-100fps.

Next to the target file Gw.exe, Press Space once and put in -perf.
It should look like this:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -perf
The next time you start up the game, it will display the information in the top right corner.

ideal fps is 60fps but usually your eyes cant tell much difference from 25upwards - i run 50-80 depending on where and doing what
