Few things I'd like to see implemented

Hey I just wanna say that you can flame as MUCH as you want as long as it is about my topic. Things I'd like guild wars to have:

1)Instead of clicking on an enemy to attack, run to it manually and everytime you hit left click you strike once. When you right click you block. If you have a shield equipped your blocks are more effective. And skills like shield block for the warrior will just make your block chance higher. (so this means that the system is very much like elderscrolls morrowind)

2)Why can't we jump, swim and walk? Having these things or at least some of it would be great to have in the game. For roleplaying reasons.

3)When you attack an enemy from behind you do extra dmg. This is a very important point to me and shoudn't be hard to implement. Adds more stradegy to the game.

4)We should be able to fully control the heroes by switching them with your character. (Hence;Star Ocean, Final Fantasy 12 etc)

5)Be able to make your own house like in runescape and other mmo's. That way we can invite people have in game parties etc. This will also deplete more of that "stupid talk" in outposts, cities and towns.

That's all for now, some of these might be repeats from other posts but anyway, feel free to flame, agree, disagree and sign unsign. Just be sure to write down the # of which idea you don't like or do like. Thanks.

That's a terrible idea, no offense. Blockin and attacking in GW doesn't work like it does in TES for very good reasons, namely ease of use and style of combat. What you are suggesting simply makes no sense for a GW format, anymore than it would if I were to suggest we be able to model our own GuildHalls because we can do it in the Sims.

I have no objection to some of these things, but I rather doubt Anet would spend their time programming it when they could do something useful. GW is not designed as a fully immersive RPG like the TES games and there's no reason it should be. Swimming I am against because water in this game is designed as a natural obstacle.

You already do that if they're moving. And I believe that shield armor doesn't apply when hit from behind (althought I could be off on this).

I thought you wanted roleplaying? Chaging people can hardly be considered roleplaying in any respect.

No, for several reasons. First, this is GW not Barbie's Playhouse Adventure. Second, if you really want an in-game party you can have one in your Guild Hall. And thirdly, theres no good reason to implement them. They serve no actual game function or purpose.

#1: Already have enough RSI, don't need more =p

#2: We can jump... really! /jump =p
But alas guildwars is not the RPG you're wanting to play.

#3: I'm fairly sure that when you strike an opponent from behind, its always a critical hit... well at least thats what happens when you hit foes running away from you.

#4,5: disagree, similar view as #2

I love when people make "few ideas" threads. You just know you're going to laugh when you click the link.

My suggestions will go unread i'm sure, heh but i'll put them up anyways because the fact they haven't been implemented saddens me.

SOME ability for trade that doesn't require you to spam the channels in every city for days.

PLEASE oh PLEASE make the gh useful for something other then standing around doing nothing. Seriously... why not be able to duel people, or set up mock matches (practice)... just make it a zone we can fight in. What a waste of space.

Uhhhh.

I guess you missed the whole "host scrimmage" option huh

You can duel people and set up mock matches. It's called Scrimmage, and it's an option under Guild Battle. Not to mention it's a near-one-stop trader area, if you don't want to travel to some big city where the traders are all spaced out. I use it whenever I need to speak with a type of NPC the GH has.

On the subject of the original ideas...

1) Absolutely not. Auto-attacking is a staple part of GW, and it would be nigh impossible for Anet to program in something like this.

2) The game engine does not support these motions, and this is the same reason the game doesn't recognize a Z-axis. Once again, more difficult programming that could be used on something better.

3) Already implemented. Auto-critical on a running foe, or something like that.

4) Decent idea, but I'm pretty sure it would also involve difficult programming.

5) Houses would serve ZERO purpose the way you describe them. They would be complicated and take up a lot of server space that could be used for something more useful.

lol, talk about flaming, but I knew it will be...trust me I know that some of these ideas are horrible, but I am listing them for people to answer me why not?? MANY other RPG have them why didn't GW do it. And btw,...the right click and left click are there so u get the view of how inovative combat in GW is. U just stand there fighting. At least in WOW u can jump around and fight...you feel like your in a REAL combat,,than just another card fight.

Guild Wars tries to be different from other RPGs. I don't play WoW, or Everquest, or w/e else there is, but I have seen them. It doesn't require THAT much grinding, limits skills to 8, and you get your own personal map outside. GW doesn't want to be another WoW

Jump around and fight huh? When I fight, I sure don't jump 4 feet in the air. Heck, I don't even jump.

They can close the forum but please don't ban me lol, I just wanted to know why not? that's all.

Well if you could jump around the enemy I am sure you would do it though. I recommend you to play or test world of warcraft, maybe then you can agree with me. I fully know that GW dosn't want to be WOW, but the way WOW does just feels better. But that's my opinion ofcourse.

Warning: Cliché remark ahead!

If you want World of Warcraft style gameplay, then go play World of Warcraft.

Yeah some new ideas of my own:

1: Lets call this game WoW.
2: Let's remove all professions and add elfs, dwarfs and mages.
3: Let's stop comparing this game to other games.
4: If you don't like the way GW is right now, don't play it.

Nah seriously, all of those ideas you summed up will change the way the game plays and we like the way it is right now. Also, you can have "private parties" already, just invite them your guildhall

My suggestions

1. Change GW to use Doom III or Half Life 2 engine
2. Make GW into FPS
3. Remove heroes and henchies and all player interactions except in pvp
4. In pvp only modes should be deathmatch and capture the flag
5. Add orcs, dwarfs, elves etc. because other games have them and they rock!

This thread is only going to get worse over time... By the way, Ryuken Tamashi, we don't encourage flaming here, so you shouldn't either.
