New way of helping people: "Hero Dropping"
Maxiemonster
In my opinion, one of the greatest way of helping people on the earlier mission is by Hero Dropping. What is Hero Dropping? It's simply dropping your heroes in a party by taking people, and then leave. On the earlier missions, 3 heroes will easily preform better then 4 human players, making the missions alot easier for them, and it barely costs you anything (less then a minute).
So, just join some parties, invite the heroes they'd like, start the mission, and leave (or stay, if you want to be even nicer ), this can be used for guildies, friends or even random people that can use a couple of level 20 heroes to fight those level 6 Charr!

I can see this quickly become a new method of "running" previously un-runnable missions.
Yay, more ways to gouge nublets out of their hard-earned(ebayed) riches!
Just kidding. Seriously though, someone somewhere will start charging for it.

Yeah, I see people charging for it as well, oh well, you can't stop that, but that's definitly not to make use of it for free, for friends, for guildies, or maybe even for gold (hey, if someone pays for it, why not?). I personally think charging for this is stupid, but it does make a mission take alot shorter, and that's what alot of people would pay for.

I don't understand what you mean. Are you saying that now, when someone drops out/is disconected, they are replaced by heros? And you do this in the beggining of the game to get paid? I don't get it... Why would anyone pay for that?
EternalTempest
hmm I noticed a players hero's stay if they drop...
I never thought of that, pair up with a friend, 2 player = 8 slots, after there on there way drop out, they use your hero's
Result
1 player w/ 6 hero's (Party 7/8)

I thought people were calling this Hero Pimping when I saw another thread title in this forum with that phrase (glad it's not called that). Surely we can come with a better name than Hero Dropping (makes me think of turds).
We could call them mercenaries maybe? "WTS elite mercs for mission." It has a ring to it.

The Great Al
why not just find someone else and their heroes to play with?
Kook~NBK~
Nah, that's not really helping them, in the long run. A better way to help people is to be good at your profession, let them bring their lower level heroes and stick around to help them through the mission. That way, they get their their heroes leveld up so that they'll be useful ot the other guy in later missions.
Besides, this hero dropping thing can easily be abused by jerks. How? Jerk offers his/her level 20 heroes, even show the victim their skill bar! Then, equips his/her heroes with crap weapons and takes all of their attribute points out, and *TADA* useless AIs!

great for helping but trade will b,
WTB lvl heros for mission
WTS lvl 20 hero's for mission
WTB lvl heros for mission
WTS lvl 20 hero's for mission
Thorondor Port
But is this being nice and helpful or ruining the early stages of the game?
Thats quite debatable imo

Well since this basically lets anyone with 2 accounts run around with 6 heroes always, I think it will probably be 'updated' right out of the game.

Besides if you have trouble with fighting Charr, I'd say try another game like runescape or w/e...?
Oh a GW forum
Well seeing as I am adamantly opposed to helping people, I for one will NOT be offering this service.
VitisVinifera
I can see this being a great way to do Titan quests. My rit just has Titan Source, and 7/8 with 6 heroes starting from Yak's will make that a breeze.

Honestly for as helpful as it is, I am sure people will start SCREAMING for a nerf so that they can further complain about quitters -_- Sorry to have such a negative outlook on it, but that seems to be the way a lot of people view things. I for one find it a great way for me to participate in a mission without having to "participate" or like when I was missioning with my husband who gets constant err7s it was nice to not have to restart for the 3rd time.

Wow, I remember suggesting that something like this might happen back during the beta days for the original GW, when someone suggested that players that get disconnected should have an AI control their character for the rest of the mission/explorable area.
I believe the response to my thought that people might purposely leave to give low levels a higher level character to mission with, was that he hadn’t thought of that possibility, but it wouldn’t matter since the AI would be too dumb to know how to use skill sets that weren’t specially customized for the henchmen.
*ponders whether any other ideas from over a year and a half ago will come true in some form*

The marketing possibilites are endless.

Now heres a good reason for pple to pimp their Heros for sale:
"WTS 3 LeveL 20 Heros for Mission/quest/farming.Comes with Elite skills/skills of your choice, Max damage weapons with nice skins (customised) and Max special unlocked Armour with full insignia and Runes. All classes aviaible pm me for Price."
Or the New Age of Asking for help:

The majority of the game is balanced on level 20 players/heroes/henchies. So "hero dropping" doesn't help in the majority (and IMO more interesting parts) of the game. I'd rather ANet leave the current mechanics, so that instances where one player is disconnected the team only loses that one player as opposed to potentially four teammates.

Not like it's really that hard to play with your own heroes anyway. I doubt people would bother paying for it, and in terms of 'lending' them, if I could be bothered doing that it's probably a friend and I'd be playing with them to help anyway.
Ilya Khan
Methinks this will be nerf-batted soon. I don't think the intent was for one to sell their Heroes' services like this.

If you were in a zone and heard WTB lvl 20 MM and monks for mission, paying 10k! (or however much the ebayers decide its worth), are you saying you'd be like,
Here little fella, let me help you with this mission...
Or more like,
Stay right there, and make the checks payable to....
Thats what I thought. Me too.
(Cept I only take cash)
Then again, like Ilya said, this will be surely and swiftly be nothing more than a fond memory. Although the only fix I see is having a player's heroes dissapear when they do... which will suxor for err 7's.
Div
Yep, I'm sure many people are laughing and making money off that now

They should make the dropped player's heroes go hostile. Now that would be fun!

I don't see people that charge for their heroes as going over too well. If someone wants to dump their heroes to help someone out, thats fine. I would hope that the player fits the heroes with better skills than what Henchman have. The reason I don't see it going over too well as far as charging goes, is
#1 - When the person dumps the heroes, if I remember correctly, the other player won't be able to control them, and so they pretty much will be uber-fitted henchies. I don't know the AI comparison between Heroes and Henchies (though I have a feeling that Heroes have a little better AI), trying to get people out of the mindset to pay for someone won't go over too well. People that spam "Warrior helping with mission/quest, xxx gold" or "Monk Services, xxx gold", never go well, so I don't see why this would be any different.
#2 - There is no real way of knowing how well that Hero is. Yeah...you can spam your skills and the build looks great, with a good weapon and armor, and such, but thats really about it. I would hate to pay for say a Hero monk, and then realize he isn't healing because the person didn't adjust his/her atts skills accordingly for the appropriate situation. I'm sure plenty of people will just be in a hurry to get the money and leave and won't take time to fit Heros to the request of the person paying for the service. I'm not saying it will/won't happen, but its something to think about.
#3 - If you pay for them in a mission and somehow fail and get teleported back to the mission outpost, you lose the Heros, loose the money you spent for them, and still have to do the mission.
Just my thoughts

Re: OP. Been there and done it weeks ago. I thought this was common knowledge lmao. Even suggested charging for the service too.
The only thing I dont know is if it works if you go through a portal (like on a quest through different areas) but I expect it doesnt.
If youre going to do it make sure you get a Necro hero thats got a good MM build.

I doubt it'll be much of a way to make money -
Tiny demand - how many players are so weak that they need help getting past low-level content, and if they do, how much money will they have?
Huge supply - tons of players have good level 20 heroes by now, and hero dropping is so easy anyone can do it.

That would be funny the first time around, however no one would party with anyone any more. Err-7 leads to the other person's heroes training a mob back to you.
The first thing I thought of when I saw the title was: I already have to pick up my dog's "dropping", now my heroes?
It's not going to work if you need to zone. There are already alot of people that have leveled their heroes to 20, so the price won't even be anywhere near 10k. They won't be alot different than henchies, because you can't control them if they are not your heroes. You could use the flags to tell them to sit, however make sure the other person sets them to defend. If I saw someone's WTB lvl20 MM and Monks, I'd offer to let them use mine with their preference in skill bar and attibutes for free or just ignore the message.
