Idea - Redo: Holiday/Special Event Item Customization
Chaco Nautzi
Now, the title may be slightly misleading, but this isn't just some thread from a guy who wants to sell his spec event items; I dont want this game to become something of an item-based mmorpg, like runescape.
Have you ever caught yourself thinking about making a new character? But it's just your luck(more mine >.<) that a special event recently took place, and your new character has missed out.
This sort of thing has happened to me more than once; so, my idea is to redo the customization to accounts, not just single characters. This would make more than a few players happy. I was thinking that they would still be customized, so we can avoid putting these rare items on the GWs market, but only have them customized to an account, kind of like how your other charaters show up in the same guild, you know? With this implimented, every one of your characters can experience the joy of sweet little 6 pound 8 ounce baby jesus, sitting up in his manger with his baby einstein videos,(that was a reference to Talladega Nights for those of you who didnt get it >.>; ) brought to your original few characters(otherwise known as "the joy of Christmas" :P).
Now, maybe some of you are thinking "Jesus, this guy just needs to get his shit together and make his characters earlier." or "So, you missed out on it on few characters, just learn to deal with it." Though, these are feasible solutions, there might be some different reasons out there to impliment this. For example, Im sure that others with pumpkin heads, santa hats, and reindeer antlers wouldnt mind getting to show them off on a new char every once-in-a-while. ;)
And with this idea in place, they all could show off their holiday head-gear on any one of their characters, instead of only having your original couple characters to show off your beloved santa hat on.
Questions, comments, and consturctive criticisms are welcome.

I think that the holiday items should remain as they are. There should be more character based titles and items instead of trying to shift it to account based.
If you see a character with a Pumpkin Crown, you know that character was there for Hallween in 2005. Not that the player's account was active prior to Halloween.
All my holidays items are on one character - as he is the only one that truly deserves to wear them, seeing as he was my first character.
My newer chartacters will always play second fiddle to my main. They'll have to be happy with nice skins on weapons and armor. If I even get them that.

My main character has first priority when it comes to holiday items as well, and my main was even here during the summer of 2005; however, he does not have a pumpkin crown (I made him, but I wasnt very interested in the game att; so I left him there while I played my current mmo att). But from what I read, it sounds like you want the holiday items to be something that people will recognize as that specific characters age? My main was around before halloween, the earliest he has is christmas. Does that mean he wasn't around before christmas? No.
When I see a pumpkin crown, or even santa hat I usually dont jump to "that character was around for 2005 halloween," more or less I think "Cool, this guy has been playing *at least* since then"

It is because GW community at least in this place take suggestions strange way and disagree nearly everything. Anyway, this is good idea.

Well this is about as agreeable as a few other suggestions/petitions(e.g. insignias on old armor petition and the "walking" thread) Ive been looking over.
Honestly, I dont see why this couldnt be implemented. If anyone wants to agree with this, please do. At this point, any feedback is welcome. xD

As I've already suggested in a couple of other threads - /preorder style command that allows you to spawn unlocked holiday items, infinitely, into any characters inventory, customised for that character. And yes, I think it's a great idea.

No thanks. My characters, particularly the older ones that I'm attached to, are deserving of their distinctive crap they've collected. My first has all of the masks (except Tengu, DOH!) and I'm very proud of the fact she does.

I would much prefer if they changed the current and future event hats to be account based, not character based. My ranger has 7 hats (every damn one of them), my monk has 4, my warrior has 5, and my assassin (I think) has 1. If they were account based, I could trash all but my rangers and spread those ones across my characters and swap when I want to.

sounds contradictory. but i do agree that those items should be account based

When I said "item-based" I kind of meant exactly like rs(e.g. people selling holdiay items for outrageous prices)

everyone constantly moands about needing more storage space, then when an idea which could actally save space crops up, it doesnt go down well....typical...

id like to have such items account based too, instead of character based .. like others said, it saves space (not only in storage, but also in ur inventory)

This would also help with hero equipment, not just holiday items. My monk's ranger hero could use a customized bow from my real ranger, saving me gold and storage space.
I've suggested account-wide customization several times before, but it always seems to get overlooked.

I would like to have more acccount wide customization as well, because I had several things customized before NF, and regret it because htey were spare items, and I do need them on my heroes ><
However, I would prefer to stay on the topic of "Holiday/Special Event" items. My past threads have sometimes really gotten off-topic. :(
Nonetheless, I would like more account-based customization too :3

OP, I like your idea, but I was thinking, oh wait, someone already posted it!
It should be like that. That way we can have more inventory space because we no longer need to have the hats with us unless we are going to wear it, and we can have it on our newer characters.
I would really like something like this, enspecially because of the recent Halloween event. I've been trying to get a hat for every one of my chars ever since I started playing, but because the mad king only came 9 times, and I have 10 chars, one for every profession (that means twenty hats needed, which means I'd need at least 20 mad king visits), I wasn't able to get all of them.
Oh, and by account wide customization, we were talking about having the holiday items customized for the account then you type something and you get the hat, but it's customized for that char. (just like the preorder weapons)

My warrior has a bunch of swords/axes customized to her name; and only ONE Koss across the entire account gets to use them??? That's bull.

Helms should always have been account based, like preorder items. I wish they'd do it, so hats stop taking up my precious storage space. >.<

I've been wishing for something like this since last Halloween. I probably would have deleted one of my characters long ago if it wasn't one of the only two I had with original pumpkin crowns. I have one character with all but the Tengu mask, and have several other characters with multiple masks. As of this last halloween, I have six characters with both the pumpkin crown and wicked hat. Inventory space is getting eaten up, and it would be much more practical if I could use one set for all my characters. Either that, or maybe they could add a "hatrack" set of inventory slots for each character.

i like the idea of account based. mainly for the storage space/invo space.

I didnt actually understand most of what you wrote, but by reading what someone else said I got ya.
You want to make event items account wide so everyone can use them?
/not signed
Purely because their items which one particular character has achieved, won, bought, etc.
It would mean that you could ultimately, 2 years down the line, delete the original character who won it, still keep the item and use it on a new character 2 years later.
To me that just seems wrong. Its like your granny wearing your boxer shorts. *shudders*
Keep it as it is, and only allow those who won the items to use them.

Nonetheless, this si a great idea; even much better than my idea. This is something that could be done even easier than my idea, seeing as they already have the same thing for pre order items.
But I was also tink that this could be irritating at times with 6 special event items(evenmore with future events) kind of flooding your inventory.
So why not, /christmas05-06 /halloween05-06 /dragonfest06? or something like that...I am, however, still overjoyed with the thought of being able to have any of the hats in my inventory without needing to keep them there
