Cant change my pre-nightfall armor =/
MythoDushi
Ok, so basicly i cant change my pre-nf armor with insignia's
And that kinda upsets me
Is there any chance in the future we might be able to change our pre-nf armor
and yeah you can say, buy a new set of armor. well obsidian isnt easily replaced.
i was hoping i could change my sins armor around abit with these new insignia's but they prove rather worthless to everyone who has pre-nf armor

Actually, I think ANet should retroactively change any armors affected by this, and since Obsidian is now inscribable (from what I hear)...
Sucks if they don't.

yups, i remember when they upgraded some armor a few month's ago, like remove the -energy penalty from judges armor, took a while for them to actually fix it for the players with "old" sets

actually I DONT like the new armor system.....now you must choose if you want say a minor vigor or the vitae....old armor had the vitae on it and then you could add the vigor to it.......dont like it one bit

So your full set of armor (not using headpiece in this example) could be 4 Survivor Insignias, 1 Vigor Rune, and 3 Vitae Runes, whereas before it could only be 4 Survivor Insignias and 1 Vigor Rune.

yeah but now I cant have the base +10 health and a minor rune (say soul reaping) at the same time.....this nerfs old armor which had a base of things like added health or energy....now your base armor comes blank and you have to pay to ADD these things back to it at the additional cost of not being able to put other runes (minor, major, superior prof attribute) on them as well.....now you have to get an insignia too....money its all money.
so my ele who has factions base armor of +10 vs elemental and +10 vs say fire and a minor water magic rune willl have to choose between the minor water magic or the +10 vs fire......where as she used to be able to have them both on. She would be able to have a rune on each piece +the base bonus modifier....the only piece that wasnt nerfed was the headgear.
dont like it at all......which is why none of my old characters will get a full set of nightfall armor.....I can at least keep the +health or +energy from the old armor along with the runes of my choice.

yes and before you had a base armor which had extras that are now the new runes or insignias (vitae used to be part of the armor and I guess you can get it as an insignia as well-survivor, and elemental pluses are now ingisnias).....so now you have to choose....do I put say the vitae or recovery on it or a rune of my prof? This will help the market for minor runes since most people will choose the vitae over say minor soul reaping.
so I used to have the base ele armor with from my above example I had the plus (which is now an insignia----would need to do this for each piece I remind you) and the vitae rune and now I cant put a minor water magic rune on it since I have the vitae. so now I must choose between say extra health or a minor rune.....
dont like these new runes one bit.
seems to me that the whole insignia and new runes are just money pits ----how to part the player from their plat. The faction armor you had the choice of looks and the 'insignia' already built in, now you must pay for that----(and still decide if you want the vitae, recovery or say minor expertise )

I don't really like it much either, but the easiest solution is to not buy new armor. I'm not buying anything new for my existing characters, unless it's a new arm piece for my necro.

Or are you complaining that you have too many options and choices to make now?

The inability to mod old armours takes what could have been a cool feature and turns it into a pointless gold sink. Seriously, every class-slash-player that has access* to it has every** reason to buy Factions armour instead. Same functionality, same divorce of appearance from inherent mod, one-eighth the expense.
...Give us the option to mod old armours - and put insignias on old gold drops, natch - and the feature will get some begrudging respect. I was hoping for a cheap way to swap mods on my now-wussy Knight's boots and no-longer-blind-reducing Vanguard's gloves.
*Like everyone else, I've started a dervish and a paragon.
**...and a Mesmer. And the Nightfall mes armour is purty. So every non-aesthetic reason.

Let's try to clear this up right here; all the mods and bonuses that came on the armor you crafted in the past have now been seperated into the insignias so you can now choose skin and stats completely independantly.
The new runes like vitae are just new runes with new bonuses, like a tiny vigor that stacks. They are not substitutes for the old armor bonuses (that's what insignias are).
From your other post
You wouldn't have to choose at all; you get both. Grab a +10 vs elemental insignia and throw on your minor water rune on top.
You don't have to use a vitae rune. How could the choice of extra health or a minor attribute rune possibly be bad? If it's that bothersome, just pretend the new runes don't exist at all. They are there to facilitate new combinations and new more creative builds; but you shouldn't see them as a bothersome decision.

to try to clear up the confusion even more (though it probably only adds to the confusion )
You can use runes and insignia's on your armor at the same time.
Vitae is a Rune (+10 health)
Minor water magic is a rune (+1 water magic)
Runes have always been optional, we just have an addition with nightfall.
Survivor is an insignia (the amount of health added is determinded by the body part you apply the insignia to (+15 when added to chest, +10 when added to legs and +5 when added to feet or arms if I am correct))
+10 vs ele and +10 vs water is an insignia
Insignia used to be part of the armor, but can now be applied when you want to change. Also, we have gotten more choice in this department as well.
So you can have a +10vs and +10 vs combined with a vitae rune combined. Or a Survivor combined with vitae. Or a survivor combined with minor water magic. You can't have a combination of Vitae and Minor water magic.
hope this clears somethig up....

I think the armor set up in Factions was the right idea. Wish the devs had stuck with that instead of this new stuff. Well, at least it made it easy for me to decide no NF armor for existing chars.
Knightsaber Sith
Well I have no big objection to the insignias, but I must say it was a bit annoying to pay a full 15k per armor piece and still have to buy the insignia seperately >_<
