I was trying to explain how heroes worked to a friend and he said "So you can jump into your heroes and take over?"
Even though that isn’t the concept I was trying to explain, I thought…wow, what a great idea!
GW already has something similar if you die where you can view the battle from the eyes of a party member. Why not expand this idea? Instead of just seeing from the point of view of you hero…why not jump in and actually take control of that hero?
Even better…have a control where you can at any time jump into any hero you control? Your Player Character would in effect use the same AI the heroes use when you are in control of a hero.
This could be the next BIG update for Heroes and/or Hench.
Anyone else think this is a good idea?
Please discuss, /sign or whatever.
Enhanced Hero Control. (Ability to jump into your Heroes)

Please no.
Heroes have already complicated what used to be a smooth and streamlined game. They've just added more to do during combat. Sometimes, more control doesn't make something better, it just makes it more cumbersome. If I want that level of control, I'll go play an RTS thank you very much.

Leave the actual control of the Heroes with the AI. It does a good enough job at the moment.
Also, if you are resurrected, will you jump back into your character? That could make for some extremely confusing situations if there are serveal players with heroes and they are dying and popping in and out of heroes.

Hereos have access to all unlocked skills including elites.. if u unlock an elite from the preist and just jump into ur hero and use it, it would make skill capping alot less fun since there will be no need to cap.. (u would have access to sumthing like hundred blades at like lvl 2).. And also.. Gw extra char slots will stop being sold and u`ll only use 1 slot since u can jump into ur hero and run off.... What i would agree on is setting skill priorities.. at least that way ur hero will do wat u want and still be an "assistant" not "leader"

I hate the fact that you can't call targets while you are dead...Just plain dumb that a coordinated team would fall apart as soon as you die because the AI no longer can focus fire.

too negative dudes here, i myself enjoy heroes as they are my henchmen, if u dont like them u can always go without them, an this has also reduced the time of making a party since no more ½ hour wait to do a quest everyone ha sdone already... also paragons an dervishes are able to get a party now...
now i am against this idea somewhat but...
i was playing dual with my gf an 6 heroes (at the final fight of some mission, dont remember the name), most of us died (all but my gf) an my gf had only rez sig, so who to rez from midst of enemy... -> tahlkora has rebirth rez her...
oohkay... i jump to tahlkora an realize that everytime i want her to move i have to click flag 1... also some of the enemies for some reason didnt show on "her compass" i jump to my own char to c where the enemies are, ooh they surround me... i jump to tahlkora oh my char has no-one on sight (strange bug?) neway running from the enemy was really a pain since everytime i want to change direction got stuck or something press flag 1, also shes got her own mind about healing herself an so on
to those patient enough to read all this, the point is... prehaps while dead, posession of ur hero could be useful...
or please give me quick key to flag 1, flag 2, flag 3 or make them available to assign quick keys from options

Explanation: If your try and look at it realistically, as a commander in a war you can't suddenly warp into the mind and eyes of the dimwit who doesn't know what end of the gun to point at the enemy and control him as he should behave.
The same goes for heroes. You are yourself, the character, your toon, whatever, and the heroes follow your commands. E.G. you say go there they will. But they aren't some kind of vessel for you to control.
Another, slightly less abstract abrstraction would be you in a party with some friends. You can tell them to go somewhere, attack someone, and hopefully they will (oh how many times I've shouted at those dimwits meintioned earlier to ATTACK THE BLOODY CALED TARGET through TS...). But you can't suddenly take control over their characters.
If you're dead, then you are dead, and can't (or rather shouldn't be able to) tell your heroes where to go. You're dead. No voice. No arm to poitn somewhere. That's why I already think you shouldn't be able to telll them to go somewhere/use a certain skill when dead, but it's debatable.

Definitely not signed, it causes too much confusion, you are your own character, not multiple characters.
However, a good idea I think would be more options as to how Heroes use skills. Anet could, for example, add the ability to say Ctrl+click on a skill, and the AI for the Hero for that skill only would know to "spam" the skill constantly (whenever it is recharged). This could work great with "Watch Yourself!" and Blessed Signet. The AI is already fairly good at this for certain skills, but certainly not well enough.
