The New Layout

Love the new layout guys! Thanks to all who put their hardwork into it. The post count addition is AWESOME! Now I can glamour at pwn's million+ number next to it

My only issue is I can't look at the "Find more posts started by (insert name here)" thing. It used to be WAY better a while ago when you could see everyone's past posts. That was before I breaked from the game. Then before the forum change it was just the threads started. Now it says I don't have access to that section of the forums. Is that just something that needs to be fixed or will we really not be able to look at that?

P.S. I preferred the old way where I could see everyone's recent posts.

The forum is loading really fast right now, but I imagine, it being a weekend night many GWGuru posters are out or playing the game .

When I was on earlier today, around 11am (central) I was a little slow, but not enough to be an annoyance.

The post count was removed =/ Is that for everyone? Is it possible to toggle it on and off? I really liked it.

I'm in the biz, and this looks really nice indeed. I did a double take, as I've been gone for a few. Really good job!

i think the general consensus is post count makes people compete in posting which just generates spam which noone wants.

Really like the new format, scared the living daylights out of me as I upgraded my graphics card and then came here not having seen the change previously and wondered what my new card was doing to me!

Ehrm I may sound like the only douche bag on the forums here but I have noticed quite a few problems with this new layout and I thought I would bring them to your attention.

This post is going to be geared towards those of you that designed this template as some people wont understand what I am talking about.


#1 Ads...
This site is becoming ad infested, there are now over 5 ads located on the main page, 2 of which I feel can be completely removed (the one within the main post {most annoying thing ever and something that should never be used} and the one along the side). One of the main ways to make money from ads is to blend them into your site, all of your ads stand out like a sore thumb and are incredibly distracting to your users. Try camouflaging them more, you will in turn make more money and have less complaints.

#2 Display...
The site renders differently on IE and FF, the first post, atm extends wayyy to far down the page and hence alot of users will not read the entire post. Another thing is that the site does not even come close to validating in xhtml, a web standard now adays. If you guys payed to have this created I would suggest paying a small amount more to have this template validate in Xhtml

This way the site will last for the next few years as the big browsers make changes to their internal coding.

#3 Style...
The site seems to be a bit different than the previous layout. The old layout had a 'guild wars feel' to it, unfortuneatly this new theme is more 'glassy' and follows the current trend in website design. Unfortuneatly this trend offers nothing in terms of relations to GUild Wars, guild wars is far from what people would call a 'futuristic' game and I feel this site has been designed for just that.

#4 Loading Times....
For me atleast, atm the site is slower than it once was, dunno if this the same for everyone.... could be the fact that there are 3450 members online XD

Again everyone is going to have different opinions on the layout, I have a negative one and am voicing it in hopes that certain things will be heard XD A hint, start with the ads, your going overboard on them, remove the text ads... they are stupid and the ones in posts... they are stupid and unneccessary.
