Some characters will need to retire eventually...

I'm getting Christie and Layla through NF atm. I hope to get the rest of my characters thru aswell, and eventully my second account which hasnt got NF yet ;__;
The Hand Of Death
I have 5 PvE characters.
My Necro, my first character, beaten all three chapters, looking for the 4 necro elites doesnt have.
Ranger, beaten prophecies and factions, waiting for a friend to get NF to go through with.
Ritualist, beat factions, got bored of, not a fun class to play anymore, extra storage.
Dervish, got to level 20, got bored, retired.
Mesmer, going through all three chapters, replacing my older mesmer I deleted, will continue with other two core class characters. May be replaced if another character becomes more interesting in a future chapter.

I have already decided to stop buying new chapters. I just have soooo much to do with my current ten characters, there is no point in buying more chapters. I will be happy developing my current crew. Yes, I will be left behind but I'll still be having fun. Maybe someday I will finish all ten and pick up whatever chapter GW is on at that time.
Then again maybe when chapter four comes out I won't be able to resist...

This is one of five threads I have been following that made me start this thread:
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10075851
Its a discussion about PUGing in general, and ways to improve the GW experience...
In this case its the alleged insanity of trying to drag 10 characters through three chapters that has resulted in the feeling that older veteran character will someday serve no purpose...retired to sit forever in their slot gathering virtual dust...
Well, how about using them as guides and trainers for n00bs? Give them somethign to aspire to! Go on a mission or a simple quest with them to show the aspiring ranger what a level 20 ranger can be like! Give them a taste for what can be attained! Show them what is possible! It gives you a chance to show off shamelessly, and can encourage a discouraged player to forge ahead into greatness!

I already "retired" some of mine. My ele never did anything since Factions release. I don't think my monk will be going through Elona. My ranger and warrior might finish Nightfall, or maybe just go part of the way...
I have one main PvE character, my necro, and I spend 70% of the time playing her.

Priest Of Sin
Personally, I just look up the skills I WANT, then I go cap it with that character. Then the character either becomes storage or I complete the game. Or, like my Necro (who I love to death), they become a permanent storage because there are too many of that class in the game for me to get through it in a speedy fasion.

Ye gods! I hope at least someone else is keeping their original characters alive, at least for the birthdays!
Chieftain Heavyhand
The one thing I like most about GW is that I can take my first chapter character all the way through to the last chapter.
Do you really need to cap every skill in the game?
That is up to you.
Do you really have to complete every chapter with every character?
Again,That is up to you.
I just got into GW about 4 months after the Faction release, I am about done with Prophecies with my main character but there is so much to see and I bounce around constantly. I have only 3 characters maybe 4 characters out of 11 that I will use. The rest are for storage. Will I ever finish any of the chapters? Maybe.
As for heroes I had a blast this Saturday leveling them up, gearing them up, and figuring out which ones work best with my playing style.
Will I finish the latest chapter before the next one comes out? I could care less. I'm having fun playing the game

Haven't touched my Paragon or Dervish yet (Both are around level 5 or so and working on getting Survior title for them) I have beaten Factions with my Warrior first and he was the only one from my main account (8 PvE characters) to beat Tyria too. Currently using him to beat Nightfall than i'll work on my new characters. I can see the point that somewhere down the line, i'll be thinking of re-rolling different characters or retire them as storage character.
EinherjarMx
I have a tyrian ele that is going through nightfall, then to cantha for some elite capping, a tyrian ranger thats pretty much the same, although I got stuck at raisu palace, a canthan warr that is after some prophecies elites a canthan monk thats pretty much the same, and an elonian paragon that's going slowly because i prefer my ele finishing nf before
as for elites, i like to have all my primary class skills, you never know when that "water trident spike" is gonna be the new FOTM XD
so yeah, plenty of things to do and not so much time

not quite sure why you need 10 different classes with everything completed on every one, seems a tad pointless. Pick one or two you like and just do it with them.

I've got 1 char might make another IF I finish NF..I'm not a person that can replay the missions, once I've done them once I won't go back for 3 months or so.
I'm easily bored..thats why I post here more then I play these days.
=HT=Ingram
Figure each chapter is able to be completed within a solid weekend of nothing but primaries and missions... SO I don't see the problem...
Sure if you want to do other stuff, it takes longer, but if your just trying to get all map points and all missions complete you should be able to do it on 1 character within a few weeks.
Since I only use 2 characters that are considered Vets now, thats not too bad. the rest are PvP builds, and chapter specific builds for cheap campaign unlocks. But if I like the build a lot and want to make them a primary its only a few days work per chapter. Its all in what you prioritize doing...
