About 2 months ago, i saw a helpless guildie trying to get help in the Guild chat. He was in Ascalon and wanted a run to Piken. Easy, got on my W/Mo ran him there. He then asked for pwr lvling, easier. Done, then he asked for some cash. I lended him 10k. He then deleted this character, left the guild, and im sitting here like, "wtf". Now, just because he deleted this character, his other characters dont appear in the friends list when he logs on. I got scammed. This is going on a stretch, but Anet should tweak the friends list so that you add the Account, not the character.

Probably the most prevalent guild wars scam I've encountered. You can't give stuff to new guildies in this game, you just can't.

i usually only give some of my fellow guildies enough money to buy their droks armor after i ran them there. This is , however, only after they have been in the guild for atleast a month and i think i can trust them.

as an officer in my guild i do the following

recruit

run places
power lvl
help with missions/quests
help with farming (if they have been in guild awhile)
lend money (if they have been in guild for a month or more)
i have also given away greens to players that have been with us awhile and
are helping other members of the guild or alliance. but for the noobs...i will
run you somewhere and give u the 50g to get into storage. thats pretty much it. you just cant trust people.

I've been able to add the name of a deleted character to my List without problems.
Was it his only character, though?
One guy I recruited for my guild "left" the next day. When I asked him why he left, he claimed he was kicked, yet there was no record of a kick in the history. I eventually discovered that he deleted his only character, ergo severing the only back-end link he had to the guild. He was still adamant he was kicked though. Idiot.
