Changing A Hero's Pet

Just curious... but how do you get rid of or change a hero's pet?

To get rid of a pet, just talk to a tamer, they are usually outside the newcomer's towns. In Elona I beleive you have to earn the tamer after reaching Sunspear Sanctuary.

This question has been asked a few times already. There is no way to actually get rid of a hero's pet as of yet, and, according to another thread, won't be.

So once you charm a pet, its there forever? Or do they come with a pet? I just got that acolyte and I sort of, kind of, remember getting the charm animal spell... I could be mistaken.

you have to use a charm animal skill on the heros skillbar to get a pet. and as for getting rid of pets on a hero....i will look into it, but i havent heard how you would

My quick guide:

1. Send all other NPCs away from the animal. If you have henches use the flag to send all NPCs and use your Hero's flag to get him towards the pet.
2. Aggro the pet: select it and hit space.
3. Immediately stop attacking.
4. Your hero will still be attacking, hit "Charm Animal" on his skillbar as quickly as possible so as not to kill the animal.
5. Heal your hero while he's charming, in case he needs it (doubtful).
6. When it's done, just remember to keep Charm Animal equipped to keep the pet.

One of the questions on the NCSoft Support website is about getting rid of a pet. The answer is that it is not possible.

You don't need to aggro the pet in order to charm it.
The hero is 'smart' enuff to see where the pêt is and start charming even without attacking it first.
Trust me. I've done it that way and it worked pretty fine for me.

But it should be. A pet to a beastmaster is just as much as a sword to a warrior.

remember, a pet is for life not just for NF

personally i think you should be able to name hero's pets, but i can't work out how to do it

To get rid of your pet, go to ascalon city head outside it and there is "jarel the tamer" standing right infront of you: talk to him, say "do you have any intrest in my companion here?" and he will take it away from you, if its lvl 20 you will get 100 gold.

To rename your pet type /petname (name) without the brakets, job done.

^^ That only applies to your Guild Wars character pet. Hero's are companion henchies in Nightfall which you can customize and use in parties. So if someone says their Hero's pet they now generally mean the NPC compainon hero and not their Guild Wars character (toon).

From what I've read there is no way to get rid of your Hero's pet nor name your Hero's pet.

/rant I understand the use of the word toons for your characters , I'm just don't really like it. /rant
