Fissure Armor offers NF style armor
Cherno
The question has been asked in a few threads but no one seemed to ever know the answer. Now we do, You can buy NF style armor in FoW:
aaronsgh
question is... is anet gonna update first generation fow armor... -_-.
Sekkira
That's always been there. It's the armour you get with no inherent bonuses, every tyrian armour crafter has them.
Cherno
It wasn't listed on wiki, and no one seemed to be able to answer when the question was asked. I had to make a second trip as I didn't have the elonian leather, but I have the set now and it works great.
lyra_song
Does this mean FOW costs more now.

I was with Cherno for both runs and the no bonus armor can have insignias placed into them. I was going to get my ranger armor that way but figured I never use anything other than Druids anyways. So with the prices on those Radiant Insignia it is much cheaper to just get the Druids.
I am not sure if you can do the same with Tyrian/Cathan non-bonus armors. Might have to test that one out and see what happens.

In every OTHER place, non-stat armor is far cheaper than the other sets. On this list, it's the same price/materials.
If it can't have insignia placed on it, it's got to be the WORST deal in all of Guild Wars, hands-down.
Somebody buy it and find out. ^_^
Edit: Somebody did. Good. Nice to know!
Let us know how that Tyrian/Canthan test goes!

Insignias are only used on Elonian armour. Obsidian != Elonian therefore, no.

Will it ever be possible to apply Insignias to 'old' armour sets?

You can't place insignias on the existing pieces of armor. I tested it on another character that I have Fissure on.
True, the base set is just as expensive as the rogues set, BUT I now have the option to change out the stats if I ever want to without having to buy a whole new set of fissure. That was worth it for me and is probably worth it to anyone who is going to get it. Also, they don't have the options available for all the new flavors of armor yet. If I wanted to get Ranger fow with the Beastmaster armor I can't unless I buy the base set and put the insignias on.
Anyway, was just making this thread because I had seen at least 3 threads on the subject (one started by me) with no one able to confirm. Now it is confirmed.

Ask about it enough and ANet will probably do something about it.

If the item has an empty instignia slot it can be place,d this armor doesnt, so no it can not
makosi
The reason I'm skeptical is because when Factions was released they changed every single crafted ele armour. Mine was +15AL vs. Fire changed to +10 vs. Elemental and +10 vs. Fire.
From that, I'd presume its possible to change the existing armours to allow insignias. Probably a colossal task but possible.

Here's proof:
RoadKill97
It's a week since I checked this, but if I remember correctly, the Warrior's insignia armor required Deldrimor Steel Ingots. The other materials were same as usual (Iron Ingots, Shards and Ectos).
I highly doubt ArenaNet will change the old armor sets, because as you can see from the picture, they are still available, should you not want insignia armor for some reason.

It is Elonian armour, after all it did require Elonian Leather

If you really can add insignias then this is complete BS. I just crafted armor for my warrior a week ago. Bad move by Anet. If you are gonna allow it on obsidian armor then at least make the change retroactive.
knoll
If it is that then allow all Tyrian and Cantha armors to change, only if they own nightfall.
Carinae
IMHO all FoW and 15k sets everywhere should be updated to support Insignias

I love my 15k pyro, have still never found another male ele armor that I liked in comparison, but would like to be able to use some different stats for it now.
Rhedd
Speaking of the material storage, that's actually exactly what I expect to happen with the armor; Only NF armor accepts insignias UNTIL the next chapter is released, then they change all of the armor over to the insignia system.
In other words, use insignia armor as a selling point until it doesn't matter anymore, then give it to everyone, making everyone happy... just like the expanded storage.

1st generation: armor name being without the word 'obsidian' ie. just 'gladiators hauberk'
2nd generation: armor name with the word 'obsidian' in it.
3rd generation: armor name with the word 'obsidian' and the armor being able to be insignia'ed
not ranting about incoherence, but fow owners need a word of assurance watsoever that fows will be made universal with updates... if not, its just too much a risk to spend 2 mill on a set of armor that might be obsolete or incoherent with the current sets in future updates...
rant: on a personal note, I'm pretty peezed off coz I've updated my fow set and parts of it due to updates to globalized armor effects and additions of fow pieces previously unavailable and now... new fow armors insciptable.. (spent almost.. hmm 3-4 mill on replacing/renewing fow for 1 char) i think i'm done keeping my fow up to date... its just too much of a hassle.
anet needs to say something.. c'mon
RTSFirebat
Have to wait till next Frog talk, then someone can ask.
In the meantime, as has already been said, more then likely they will allow older armors to be insignia'ed at a later date. Afterall A.net does need to keep selling copies of Nightfall to be profitable.
I don't blame them, in the meantime those of us who have FoW will have to make do.

Priest Of Sin
Being able to insigna my armor would make my day... unfortunatly, Radiant Insignias would likely jump to 30k or MORE, because everyone wants their mana... Is it so much to ask to be able to swap my FoW boots out with a bloodstained insignia without buying a new set

Wat!!?? I don't have enough money to afford another set...can't they just make my enchanter set accept insignias??
Cybah
i'm pissed off too xD
lets all hope they'll change this until next chapter or sooner.
