Anet makes no sense

"Those...dreadful...corsairs took my beloved away from me. He died fighting them somewhere at sea. Oh, my poor Wehsehlei...how I miss him! Can you help me? I hoped to buy his freedom, but I have no coin. The only thing corsairs understand is gold. If you bring me 5 Gold Doubloons, maybe I can use their own gold coins to buy my Wehsehlei's freedom. In return, I'll gladly give you:"
Ok...so if he's dead why are you trying to buy his freedom....im confused.

Now come on! You can't blame ANet for this! It's clearly the corsairs fault. After all they killed the guy, then captured him, setting a ransome. Downright sh**ty business practice right there.
Carth`
Maybe the Corsairs have a rez shrine and they won't let her use it.
Orinn
They forgot rule 1: Pillage, THEN burn. Obviously, they MEANT to hold him for ransom, then kill him when the ransom was paid, but they got it in the wrong order. Now they're just hoping nobody catches on until they get paid, because once they get their money, the end result is the same.

Collectors rarely make sense.

In GW world, spirit can be captured.

I think she just wants your moneys.
Terra Xin
haha now that's funny.
That makes perfect sence. The trader is hanging around corsairs... not dying...
She IS a corsair... oh the conspiracy^^.
Or she could just be insane. That works.
:P. Now tell me, is your daughter really your father in disguise??

There's a vending machine in the sea that takes 5 gold doubloons and gives you one fresh soul in return. I think Gwen is in there somewhere.

Eh, bad writing here and there isn't new; Remember Rurik? Yeah, I know, alot of people tried hard to forget him. But hey, I think it's clear some of Anet's writers want to make us laugh. Admit it, it's fun laughing about these things and sharing them with people, it's part of the experience.
Best. Taunts. EVER.
"This is my kingdom, beast. Get your own."
"Are you this ugly on the inside?"
"I am Rurik, Prince of Ascalon! And you are dead!"
"I am the cleaver brought down upon the heads of infidels!"
I miss Rurik, I think I'll go play the Ascalon missions.

I haven't got the quest, but wouldn't it be convenient if it was like the other quests where you have to hand the npc money and you get the option of killing them?
Gaile Gray
Thanks for pointing that out, lyra_song. You're right, it makes no sense to win the freedom of a dead guy.
Hey, Terra, can you tell me exactly where this occurs? I can't remember, and if you recall the map or town where this convoluted text takes place, that would help us fix this. Looks like Vabbi Child and Noble have a swap on chat text.
Thanks!

That's in the Tihark Orchard mission.

I vaguely remember running into a collector who was injured and wanted insect parts to make a crutch.
In return he offered weapons. Weapons he could easily use to take the pressure off his wounded leg.

I'm glad ANet is listening to us, but if there're other things that are higher up in priority, I'd be okay with this, since it doesn't really affect game play, and is only cosmetic.

Oh, that's nothing. Remember the quest The Thieving Nanny? What's wrong with it you ask?
"Oh no~this is the right coin purse, but it is torn, empty, and covered in...is that blood? How will I pay for Nei's medicine now? But I'm sure you did all you could, <name>, and at least that thieving Mara learned her lesson."
