Staff Wrapping of Demonslaying, damage increase in wanding or magic?

Guys I have got a question here if I attached a staff wrapping of demonslaying on my staff. Does the damage dealt to demons is 20% more(assuming a perfect mod) more in wanding the enemy(as in attacking it) or casting spells on the enemy. Help will be much appreciated.

It only affects attacks and not spells.
