Gear: Armor set that gives you +10 AL while enchanted or against physical, Zealous Axe of Enchanting (or Defense or Shelter) with +5e, shield with -2 stance (since Conviction is a stance) and -2 enchanted (you only get partial AL from shield) or focus with armor and recharge bonuses
Here's some it works. Tainted Flesh gives enemies the Diseased condition if they strike you in melee and Armor of Sanctity gives you -20 damage reduction from foes suffering from a condition. Remember Diseased is contagious, so as long as one enemy strikes you, the others will likely get this condition also. Note also that there're no evasion skills, the point is to have enemies hit you.
But don't worry, because besides the -20 damage reduction, you have lots of armor. Conviction gives you +24 AL at all times, and so does your armor, which gives you 80 AL, for a combined 104 AL at the very least, not counting weapon/focus/shield bonuses.
As an added safety, cast Faithful/Watchful Intervention prior to engaging the enemy, but more often than not, you're probably not going to need it. The Heart of Holy Flame and Signet of Pious Light combo heals you for 135hp every 15 seconds, and deals 100 armor-ignoring damage plus setting the enemies on fire for 6 seconds (2 extra seconds from Mystic Corruption).
Energy management shouldn't be a problem since most are 5 energy spells and you have Mysticism and Zealous mod to help you with energy. The spells also have very short cast times, so they're hard to interrupt.
