Am I the only one? Hmmm
Valon
Been reading these forums a lot lately, and I've seen lotsa people complain about Nerfs, PUGs, Heroes, Drop Rates... Was thinking, am I the only one who's not complaining. I liked GW how it was when I started playing, like it how it is now. That's all.
Matsumi
I'm still enjoying the game myself, nice to know I'm not the only one also. I liked it before the ai change, but like it even more now. I'm having fun with my dervish and paragon characters, then later I'll bring the rest of my characters through.
VGJustice
I've noticed that there's a lot more complainers here than there are in game. Not quite sure why that is exactly.
Not like I'm complaining. I'm having fun with the game.

Yea, think about it for a second though. People are more likely to respond to negative comments than they are to positive ones. Look at all the liberals in America. You don't see them marching to the white house to tell the government what a wonderful job they are doing. Don't get discouraged by the number of complaints people make on forums or surveys or anything like this because that isn't a fair representation of the overal population.
Crazyvietguy
Yeah, i agree, i dont complain much and when i do its usually about another player, not so much something that ANET has done.
However, with a larger population of players comes a larger population of people, some of which have a thing for complaining about everything.
For them I dont think its so much that they hate the game, its more like they are mad for a little bit because they lost something that they liked.

Yeah, with all the complaining that goes on here, you'd think that GW was a horribly crappy game. I'm having tons of fun even after a year and a half of playing. People just tend to think they have more entitlement to things and so they complain more.
But no...you're not alone in that you're enjoying the game and don't complain, most GW players just play the game.

Great post Valon. I love Guild Wars and I have enjoyed Factions and Nightfall. Anytime Anet has nerfed a skill or build that I use, I just research and adapt and so far I haven't had any problems playing any of my characters.
With such a positive thread, I refuse to put any class of player down in my post, but I will say this: With 3 campaigns and SO many things to do and ways to play, you'd think everyone would find a way to enjoy the game.

I'm having a good time . . . . I can't farm as well, but Ive been getting good drops. In one day I got 4 Monstrous Fangs, 2 Margonite Keys and 1 Ruby, just playing missions. :-D

Ummm what's with the adding of the gold selling link in the quoted post, Judiketty?
ValaOfTheFens
I think a player's satisfaction with GW is roughly proportional to how long he or she has been playing. I've been at it for 3 1/2 months and have enjoyed it immensely. Though I think I choose the wrong secondary for my first character so I haven't completed many missions. Plus I have no Elites to make any respectable builds for PuG groups or PvP. But I like to be challenged and I'll get through the game eventually. I have 3 characters ,one for each game,to max out and explore with.
MMSDome
I complain about people who complain. Every update I look at and have fun with it because you can adapt to the game as it changes. I mean cmon i dont want to sit around with the same boring fow groups having an SS necro and nukers taking care of everything, the changes make you change the way you fight. And it wont hurt you doing so. The only update i didnt like was the tengu farming nerf, i wuvved tengu!!!

Back on Topic: I've got no complaints about drops. I've only ever gotten 1 or 2 "uber-leet" items the whole time I've been playing, so the rare Black dye is a nice "w00t" moment for me.
People are going to find anyexcuse to complain about things. Some things are legitimate (lag, broken quests, etc.), other things are just "boo-hoo, poor me" nonsense

I have a hard time complaining about this game...
If you believed the threads you'd think no one plays Factions, no one farms, and no one joins PuG's anymore.
But people still play Factions, farm with their farmers, and join PuG's.

Thanks for the thread. Ive enjoyed GW since its release, and played it both casually and obsessively. Still am. Nightfall rocks my socks off.
I sometimes get the feelin that people want GW to be their lifestyle game, and panic about every update, go berzerk on a bug etc. Casual gameplay for hardcore gamers...some ppl just have to adjust. I take the game for what it is, and if summin doesnt feel right, i get over it.
Its like buying Battlefield 2 and complaining ur tank doesnt drive fast enough.

Your Definatly not the only one I still love and enjoy this game just as much as I did before. I look at the improvemts more then i look at the bad changes in almost any situation - including guild wars. Although all of the complaints people have, I find nightfall to be the best yet

Eh, I think the complaints are a combination of factors...
1) Most people who enjoy the game are generally playing it in their free time, with little extra time to go visiting forums. This means fewer posts from people like that. Most people who generally have problems with the game have more time, because they're not playing it, and thus find their way onto forums to express their displeasure. This means more posts from people like that.
2) Anet has made it very obvious that they listen to their fans on a regular basis. The more they listen, the more the fans will talk. It is understood that expressing dislike for a feature, or mechanic of the game will eventually be seen by the devs, if expressed often enough, and generally fixed. This means increasingly more and more negative posts, as people find things they dislike.
3) This game is aging. It's reaching a point of becomming off-balance with updates. If the game remains static in any way, people will complain of how boring it is (you know the posts I mean). If the game changes in any way, people will complain about how great it was before the change (you know the posts I mean, here, too). This is a delicate conundrum.
I don't like calling people whiners. I always try to listen (or read) and understand people's point of view, whether I agree with them or not. Just don't let all the negative posts fool you. They don't represent how all the players feel (see #1), but they do serve a noble goal (see #2). For that, I am thankful for them.
Otherwise, I still love this game. Nightfall especially. The devs did a terrific job - aside from the missing content and bugs. But hey, nobody's perfect, right?

I like all the flames going towards complainers because they have a different opinion on Nightfall then the rest of you do that's awesome.
I complain about somethings, I still have fun but it's forced fun usually, game isn't fun when I can't make a large chunk of money fast enough. People usually bring things down so it's not fun to play with em all the time.

Complaining is a form of communication, and it can be effective or ineffective. As for myself, I am enjoying the game. I have all 3 campaigns. There are some rough edges here and there that could be polished but over all the game is a winner.
I still think the social scene in Guild Wars is a little fractured due to the spread across campaigns, Heroes, henchies and instanced areas. Those things present some challenges when it comes to meeting people and grouping with the same peeps on a consistent basis.
Ultimately, Guild Wars is best played with friends, of whatever stripe.

None of the "nerfs" have bothered me. I like everything in Nightfall except for the heroes system, which I think needs quite a few changes. Unfortunately I don't think those changes will happen.

I'm still very happy with this game even having it for about 16 months now. Sure, the game has a few rough spots but every game does and you can't expect that a game will ever be perfect, you just gotta learn to adapt to the nerfs or get out of the game. One thing I would like to see more of though is expanded content for the older campaigns. I was thrilled when SF was introduced and I am excited for the NF update (even though that stuff was supposed to be in at launch). Perhaps Anet could do some sort of Factions exspansion after they finish the NF one because if you can keep all the games fresh you will attract more people to get all the games instead of just the latest one.

So you made a thread just to say you're not complaining about anything? You might as well have posted "Hey everyone look at me!!!!"...

To the OP, as some might tell you already, thats how the forums works overall. Negativity breeds more dicussions and attention and some confrontation as an side effect.
Imagine comming onto the forums one day and find the forum filled with threads like "Anet we luv u <3 <3 <3 ^_^" or the stickied 11589 paged "official greet Gaile morning thread ^^V".
In a nutshell, its normal and there will always be someone debuking/supporting someone else's views one way or another.

No not like my post because I didn't start a thread just to draw attention to myself and top it off with an ambiguious title to draw in even more views... and how clever, use anything I say and turn it around to be directed at me... "I know you are but what am I?"
Really, nice job. You're the FIRST person to ever think of that. I mean, not even a pre-schooler could think of that.

I like all of the games. Factions was the first one I played through, and while I can understand why people complain about it especially when compared with Prophecies, I still think on the whole the game was great. I still haven't finished Nightfall, but so far I'm liking it. I think each game has it's own qualities that make them stand out from each other and make them fun to play. As for nerfs, PUGs, heroes and drop-rates... well, of course it sucks that you can't get green drops from every other boss, that you are forced to come up with new strategies and use new skills because your favourite skill got nerfed, and that the game tends to harbor idiots as well as great players, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles. Changes in gameplay keep it interesting, even if things don't always go as planned.
And the general rule usually seems to be that it's more fun and easier to complain than to praise. You can't please everyone, and complainers generally tend to be more vocal about their displeasure.

I have only been playing GW for about 6 months so far. And I have no complaints about the game at all except for....
1) There is just sooo much to do. When I log on it takes me a few secs to decide which character I want to use. Whether I want to do some farming or running or complete a few missions or PvP..... Ghaa, the choices are endless. I'm like a kid in a candy store. And I don't even have nightfall yet.
2)This is no bodies fault but my own. I have no life since I found GW's.
Friends have stopped calling me and inviting me out because I'm like " Ahh, I'd love to but it's a double faction point weekend". They are like WTF.
But sorry I digress. Sure people complain a lot, but I find that even the complaints can be sometimes entertaining and are usually informative to some point. If not the original post then at least the replys are anyway.
Good to see so many people are still enjoying GW's. It is a great game.
Now I'm off to try and decide what to do tonight.... Agggh the choices.

I have no complaints about Guild Wars atm... except running elona's reach... that is just plain silly....
I think the hero system has discouraged the multiplayer element of the game too much, but I still LIKE the hero system. For when you can't find that human monk, Dunkoro does a superb job.
Other then that, Nightfall is great so far. I haven't beat it, I have been tanking too much in FoW on my dervish to finish it. I haven't even gone to RA much, or HA. Makes me sort of sad...

Most people that you say complain are not directly complaining about the nightfall game itself.. because i belive that most of us feel that nightfall is a great game.
but we are complaining to try and fix the broken ai system that the most recent ai "update" has spawned.
and we also complain about the fact that we feel the game is becoming less open ended.
you see people like me who have been around a long time have developed a feel for this game. kinda like gravity. you know its gonna be there and you know what it feels like.
so when the "gravity" of the game was changed. alota the old salts "myself included" got pretty angry at the changes.
we still feel the changes are wrong. but that in no way makes us dislike nightfall as a game.
i have said it once and i will say it again.. had it not been for the update.. i belive that nightfall would be pretty close to the best gw game so far.
although some would argue. the evidence stands. when threads that have complaints about the new ai system reach near 20 pages and over three hundred posts..
somthing is obviously wrong.. and the majority does not like it.
I hope that clears up your misconceptions about the complaints made on this forum. and i hope you can understand that complaints are a neccisary part of fixing an obvious problem..

Well, I have one basic rule...The Ele does it first. My E/N is my first, favourite and most loved character so she goes through the campaigns first. As for all the others...yes, when i start to play one of the characters I remember why I like it so much...then I move to another one and I'm like "how can I choose?".
