1. factions - aspy, ritualist, assasin, asian setting, amazing faces, superb armour choices, some of the most amazing skills were introduced (although theres a bunch of stuff i absolutely hate - but the good sides outweight the bad)

2. prophecies - nostalgia, superb game when it came out

3. nightfall - the bad: hated the preview weekend and i hate it now - the visuals are ugly, the general title is my arch enemy, basicly i hate the way it feels, the new classes, male faces & hair VS. the good - heros that i can use to play though factions

Prophecies - Pros: Look, large maps, variety, completeness. Cons: None.

Factions - Pros: Difficulty, coop features, elite missions. Cons: Half the game is ugly. Ignored in some events like halloween. Key class skills can only be obtained in other chapters.

NF - Pros: Nice maps. Cons: Ultimately this was a rushed game and it shows. It's far too short, far too easy, missing features, and it promotes anti-cooperative play. Great job on the maps and graphics, terrible job on the game design.

Factions: Now your maybe like, WTF?! yes. Factions was a fine game, and now i tell u why this beats NF. The hero system has ruined NF, Everyone has a 4 ore 8 over there heads now, and only few people makes real groups now {Still with those darn heroes} Economy, Suxs in NF. No need too explain

Nightfallissapointing, Hero system ruined it, economy suxs, Not newbie freindly {Checking for newbie perspictive} Booring farming of sunspear rank, and so on and on....

Well, this is an easy one for me...

1. Prophecies - what can I say? It's home. All my characters still return here and the scenery is still as incredible now as when I first started playing so many moons ago... though I still dislike post searing Ascalon. It's hard to believe that I've been playing this game for over 2 years (I took part in the alpha and beta tests).

2. Nightfall - Good story, cool graphics... though the graphic updates have made it a bit sluggish on my laptop. Still runs good on the desktop pc though. Scenery wise, not as good as Prophecies, but still well done.

3. Factions - though I don't hate it like some people here, I do hate the city. I rushed my characters through this part of the game to get them to the "better" areas. It definitely took me less time to beat this chapter than Prophecies though, and I only return to Cantha these days if I really have to.

Yeah that was exactly my point. You said NF is PvP the way it should be, the only difference they made was to add hero vs hero arena, and heroes to other forms of PvP.

The change of HA to 6v6, equipment and skill templates, I all consider to be global updates. They affected everyone, regardless of campaign, and were added before NF was released.

2. Prophecies. Great game overall.
3. Factions. About as appealing as an abortion.

Prophecies: original and the best. You can't beat the classic. I spent most of the past 18 months playing GW in Prophecies.

Nightfall: Great game so far and I'm not even off the training island and yet I already fine it much better then Factions.

Factions: Other then getting the ritualist... can I have my money back please? Locked portals stupid city missions ruined the game for me.

1) Nightfall: without a doubt the best. If you look at what Prophecies was when it was first released and then look at what comes shipped with Nightfall then I don't see any reason not to put Nightfall on top. The only, only reason why Prophecies would ever be number 1 is because it is the original and the one that introduced us to the GW universe. I can't imagine that anyone starting with GW now would think that Prophecies is better then NF

2) Factions: Same thing really: it's GW but with a bit more bubbles.

3) Prophecies: it has it's charm but I realize that most of it is nostalgia. Pre-searing will give me that warm feeling but when you look at the actual game (quest and mission design, storyline, class interaction, etc...) then the newer games are simply better.

By that logic Prophecies didn't add a thing to PvP either since all of it's PvP is now core...

1. Prophecies, there nothing like the original. Played all six professions over 2 accts and did every mission/bonus, and quest up to the titan quests. Seems like once my new Canthan/Elonian characters can get to LA they don't head back to their homeland for a while.

2. Nightfall, better than Factions. At least I didn't have to get 10k kurzick/luxon faction to continue and the heroes feature in Nightfall. There's actually a bonus in missions. Also, heard that there's a big, bad boss at the end that 7 hammer warriors can't kill in 50 seconds.

3. Leeroyism... I mean Factions. Nice armor, nice weapons. Nice to be able to bring heroes over from Nightfall. Thanks to a bunch of heroes being under level15, I found a reason to to the side quests in Factions.

1) Nightfall - 2 missions from the end. So far I love it. Seems to be a good balance between prophecies and factions. My only gripe is that you still have to buy your skills. I miss earning them through quests so I can spend my money on other things. The graphics and new monsters are awesome. Feels a bit lonely at times with most people taking heros everywhere.

2) Prophecies - Nice and long. Yet creating new characters there will never happen again for me. It was a fun ride though. I plan on taking my paragon through it once I finish nightfall. It looks kind of dated now as far as the places you can explore.

3) Factions - I do like factions. The PVP was fun, the story was ok, but it was kind of short and there were to many roadblocks. I also hate how they changed the Vizunah Square mission. Now it's harder and not as many people go there now. Still this chapter was also a fun ride.

1. Nightfall, much more varied PvE experience. There are not just missions that you need to fight in them, which is another step closer to the roleplaying experience. Definately a step forward.

2. Factions, even though the PvE wasn't that great I still enjoyed AB a lot, and I PvE and PvP so that was important to me. On top of that I really like how it was fairly short, making it easier to get through with old character.

3.Prophecies, very repetitive to me, once one character completed the game, it was that much less fun to do it with a second, and then a third. It felt like work rather than playing a game. One thing I like about Prophecies more than the other games is its sense of community. Now people don't really play with each other, Prophecies was supreme in the community aspect of the game.

1. Prophecies. My first MMORPG (unless Diablo counts), alot of content, everything was still new. Six professions, alot of skills, alot of armors, PvP was good from the start. Simply a great game.

2. Nightfall. Great graphics, very nice style, I loved walking around in most of the content, and it was actually quite challenging compared to the first two chapters. I also liked the new monk elites, so that changed alot for me as well. Great new characters (Dervish looks badass and Paragon is great to play). Heroes are probably my favorite part, I love doing Prophecies/Factions content with them. The only thing that bothered me were the armors, the skins weren't that great, even though I like the Insignia system.

3. Factions. Few content, Kaineng City was just horrible, leveling was too easy (Shing Jea island was too short, and still got you to level 16-20), alot of skills weren't that promising (my monk's skill bar was pretty much core/prophecies at all times during PvE and PvP). The alliance part of Factions was pretty cheap, and didn't add much to the game. I also didn't like Assassins at all, because they really messed up PvE the first couple of weeks, but I guess Ritualists were nice. Better then nothing, but it was hardly worth buying when you were expecting something like Prophecies. The armors on the other hand, were pretty nice if you'd ask me, and the armor system improved greatly.

1) PROPHCIES it has a lot of different regions with different monsters in each and different theme quests. Not like factions where everything has to do with the afflicted >_<

2) NIGTFALL it too has lot of differnt things in different place just not as much as prophcies tho the entire thing based on 1 thing Abadon

3) Factions everything based on shiro and afflicted noob lvling (each quest is half XP bar) and it split up lots of friends with the kurzick and luxon thing

In conclusion PROPHCIES AND NIGHTFALL FTW factions ftl
tho factions had cool armor

1.) Factions - yes, I love it and I'm not even a PvP person. I think the leveling pace is just perfect, I love the Asian theme and the whole environment, I also think the assassin is a very underestimated class which can be really good and helpful in PvE. No opinion about the ritualist, for I haven't played one. Sure, the Factions storyline was pretty lame, but I don't actually think the other chapters' stories were much better. Many of the Factions armors and weapon skins are amazing and the Jade Sea just makes me drool. :P
Though it was rather short, it has much more replay value for me than Prophecies or Nightfall. Got every character through it without thinking "not THAT again" even once.

2.) Prophecies - back to the roots, hooray.
I actually like Chapter 1 very much, but due to replaying it with every character up to now I get quite annoyed by everything that comes before the desert. Still, it is great and it will always be great. ^_^

3.) Nightfall - umm, yeah. It's quite nice, actually, and I'm sure ANet put a lot of work into it, but it's just not my piece of cake. I can't get really into the African/Egyptian theme and I don't seem to like the new professions very much. Additionally, 90% of the new armors are bum ugly, imho. x.X
Also, the hero system is quite helpful for playing alone, but it cut off another huge chunk of the already quite small MMORPG (I know, it's not supposed to be one) feeling, which is a pity, imho. Still, the Realm of Torment is awesome, I like that part alot.
Unfortunately, after getting two characters past Abbadon, I'm already fed up with the beginners' island and with the sunspear point farming that Tyrian and Canthan characters have to go through. Not much replay value for me. Anyway, the graphics and storyline have been improved pretty much. Thumbs up for that.

Ok so the title to the post is a bit confusing!!

But I get ya!

Prophercies is the best by miles.

Factions and Nightfall have brought nice updates and nice armor and weapons and places and fairly decent storylines.

But nothing will beat the original and thats why I always preach for people to play the original first.

Nothing is given to you within 2 missions, you have to work for it.

It takes 3/4 of the game to reach lvl20, and get max armor and max weapons.

The missions are a challenge and not just hack and slash.

The main mission and bonus system actually makes sense, compared to the the Elonian thing or the stupid 3 tear Factions thing.

Reaching lvl20 actually means something in Tyria and it feels fulfilling to reach it and get max armor and so on.

And having to go all the way through the game to change your second profession was better then being able to do it when ever you like.

Although I admit I do like that at times.

It was just actually hard work and you werent given everything on a silver platter like you are in the other two.

Plus Nightfall has been made farrrr too hard. I appreciate they wanted to make future ones more challenging because people said they games were easy, and they were. But they went one-step further and made it tooo hard at times. Hard to the point of frustrating.

Plus Elonia quests and missions arent explained very well. You dont always know where your going and what to do. There is alot of running around second-guessing yourself.

Factions was basically rubbish, but less frustrating.

3.) Chapter 4- Hoping
10.) Factions - Bleh (Double Dmg from bosses, Corrupted Explosions, Boring Story, Co-op Missions with 2 parties (Double the chances to jack up the mission! Whoever thought of that one should be kicked in the chest honesty), AB was over hyped, Elite missions fiasco, etc etc.)

Factions - Love the armor art, skills, and character appearances. While sometimes it's cheap getting to level 20 so quickly, other times it's just a nice thing to get done and over with sooner. I like the concept behind Fort Aspenwood, I only hope this is done again in future chapters.
Nightfall - Love the story, weapons, and heroes.
Prophecies - Varying environments.

I like my canthan monk too much (1000 hours on that char in 6 months, 10 armor sets since starting...), my favorite henchperson is Seaguard Gita, I like Luxons, Zodiac items look purdy, Gothic Swords too. You can't beat the Jade Sea really, just looks so darn good!

My beefs with each chapter so far would probably be...

Factions: Too fast, with certain missions that aren't fun because of other players. (Vizunah Square anybody?)
Prophecies: Too long, imagine making a new warrior and wanting Eviscerate, then consider not taking shortcuts. :P
Nightfall: Hard to pinpoint this since it's so new, but so far I've found many armor sets not to my liking in terms of artwork (mideval monk just creeps me out), especially after being impressed with so many sets in Factions and some in Prophecies.

1. Prophecies. Great game for its time. It is very long. takes several months to finish the game. Lots of varied monsters, etc. This game had very few cons, other than runners, farming, and the still ludicrisly high prices of sellers in Lion's arch. Extremely strong monsters were used sparingly instead of being thrown straight at you at every turn in the game. There is many distinctions between the different armors in the game, Rangers had different looks, and Frostbound armor, was made of fur, so it made sense to have armor against cold damage. same as Drake armor. Druids armor looked like druids armor. The last boss was a bit easy though. I absolutly loved the free updates as ti added more to this game.

2. Factions. the story is really nice, though not as well though through as prophecies. The Factions and all the PvP elements. had more armor that nightfall, and they are animated better. Elite missions were awesome. and the monsters were stronger but the annoyingly powerful ones were still used sparingly. Shiro was a letdown. but then again all the last bosses were. This game would be at the top of my list had Anet added free updates. This game also actually added to Prophecies and vice versa, if you have both games. Had exclusive content for Factions only characters, and refered to all others, as foreigners. but the story didn't change for foreigners, so another reason why this is at number two.

3. reserved for chapter four. unless it is as disapointing as nightfall, in which case there wont be a number three on my list.

4. Nightfall. The Story is great, so are heores, thats where good things just abotu end. The lips moved, though it is up and down, no real lip movement, so this is not a plus. You spend half of the game fighting the Kournan/Margonites which through the entire game have the exact same skills, and there is no change between it at all. Almost nothing added to PvP play. It does add heroes, but this just helped to kill the player economy and made people antisocial. While the Dervish armor is animated beautifully, the rest of the armors are not, and they are sickening to look at. There isn't that many armors either, and they have degenerated into all armors looking the same. Inscriptions and insignias are only for nightfall, and with such a large PvE benefit like this, should have been added to the previous two, which didn't happen. The Last boss, while cool looking, was a huge letdown, and was killed on the first try, unlike the previous four missions that took seven + tries each. Anet purposly kept out content that should have been in the main game as they advertised it that way as it being in the final game, but will instead add it in an update in a few months so they can use their selling point of free content, though we all know that TRUE free content pretty much stopped with Prophecies, as nothing was even added in Factions. Weighing the pros of the game to its cons. This is definitely the worse so far. This game also doesn't add much to Prophecies or Factions except for a few hasty quests in the end. Also, you are treated exactly like an Elonian character instead of a Foreigner, even Mhenlo, who you probably played with through Factions and Prophecies, refers to you as a native of Elona several times. The game would have been alot better is a prophecies character would interact with the Lich, as a Prophecies character that completed the game should have remarked "I killed you allready!" etc. the same thing as with shiro.

1) Prophecies: the sheer number of things in this campaign is staggering. Sorrow's Furnace, Tombs, UW+FoW (yes, I know they're in the other campaigns too), a massive world with exotic locales, and a gripping (although confusing) storyline.

2) Nightfall: Short, but nicely done. Realm Of Torment is still one of my favorite areas to explore. It's like FoW and UW had a demonic baby.

3) Factions: too short, I hated the "Befriend The Kurzicks/Luxons" quests... it made me PvP when I was in PvE mode. GRR. But to be fair, my Assassin remains one of my favorite characters.

Really, really hard, I hate and love games for different reasons, so I don't have a particular top-3 other then the sequence in wich the chapters were released..

Prophecies:
Much variety, shiverpeaks, ascalon, jungle, desert and so on. Landscapes were quite pretty
but not very detailed. Much elite content (FoW, Tomb of primeval kings(lovely), UW). Good story
with the lamest voice acting ever. Biggest con however is the fact that every 5 meters some mob pops out of the ground to attack you, it gets soooo annoying after a while (Crystal desert OMGWTF-AAAAAARGH, Summit giant herders MOAN). Ring of fire is f*cking great though and i liked the jungle too.

Factions:
Hands down great game, i don't get all the whining. The storyline is pretty lame/confusing indeed but the missions are great fun. It's short though and the city quests are tedious, but the rest is quite doable (except for the black moa quest where u get to see half Kurzick-land). For the PvP fanatics AB might be scrub, but I love it and I'm quite good at it too, u never know what to expect, easy PWNage or being easily PWNed. Hmm, and let's not forget nice elite missions (I love Urgoz).

Nightfall:
Graphics yum, yum. Story even more yum yum. Missions kick-ass. I'm a bit mixed up about the heroes though. Getting a team is a little harder now, but the population is so spread out atm so u can't live without thm too. I love the fact that u don't have to spam for a monk for half an hour, cos hero monks are killer with the right build. and then theres the realm or torment, despite myriads of whining I think the area+ missions are great. At least hard is really hard and no endless kill-the-scarab-slugfest. Very challenging without making it look like work.
The end game area is pretty deserted most of the time though, I would like to try some masters quests with a good group. I replaye

1) Tyria - to echo what everyone has said... started everything. Clean and exciting...

2) Nightfall- great storyline with the option to solo at 4am with heros. Poor title management ( can't get top sunspear title without knowing prior to getting to 8th level)

3) Faction's- I'd don't care for PvP... The City SUCKED! Way to much grind for faction... I'd rather sun spear farm

Personally, I loved Factions the most. I didn't do any AB farming, so I couldnt comment on that, but in general, Factions had the most polished content. You had better looking armors (a long-needed overhaul from the crappy textured tyria sets), you had some great new skills, and 2 classes that were in general, very fun to play.

Not only that, but the PVE was manageable and didnt feel like a grind whatsoever. While its agreeable that the PVE was short, I would say it was short and sweet, since by the end, you could clearly realize that each mission had a quirk that made it easy (cookie-cutter builds dominated).

Aside from the notably ugly terrain throughout 2/3rd's of the game (the city and the Kurzick territory), the Luxon side was sheer beauty.

But yea, I loved how Diablo 2 could be quick once you got someone to rush you to the cow-runs, and thats what the quick-pve in factions reminds me of.

It allowed me to try out all 6 of my pve characters through the whole game.

The Horror Show [HORR]

1) Nightfall - Strongest story of the three, leveling isn't too fast (like in Factions) or too slow (like in Prophecies). Story is the most important part of any game experience to me, and NF is the best hands down. Not a fan of the new classes at all though, which is the only weak point.

2) Prophecies - Great PvE experience, great story. The leveling is insanely slow, but as a result, you feel more accomplished when you progress along in the game. I also think the armor is the most aesthetically pleasing of any of the campaigns, and there's more armor variety. And strongest elites of the three games.

3) Factions - Still a *great* game, but it's more PvP based, and I much prefer PvE. It's probably the most aesthetically pleasing of the three, in my eyes. And I adore the Assassin class.
