The teleporter in The Crystal Overlook - is this another enigma?

I do not know whether something has been posted on this subject before.

I have an elonian char and I was exploring the crystal overlook and I came accross an npc by a teleporter like the ones you fine in tyria's crystal dessert.

When I spoke to the npc, he didnt give access saying that i had to know waht the dangers ahead were.

I went back to the bunch of npcs in the area just when u get to this area and no quest could I obtain.

I went and mapped out the area and found a quest tiem called the great horn of something.

Took it back the teleporter guy, no joy.

Took it back to the npcs and no joy either.

I do not think that this is only for tyrian chars or is it.

Can anyone show some light on this for me please.

I also found this portal. There is a lady npc close to where the merchant and weapons crafter is (I can't remember her name - but she is on the left side). She gives you a quest to go and find her husband. That takes you to the portal - and beyond.

I went through the portal previous to getting the quest - and ended up in the Arid Sea. I'm sure that you have to have Prophecies to get through this portal, though whether or not your character has to be Tyrian I don't know. The character I did this with was Tyrian.

i believe you also have to have previously been to arid see with the char you are using

I found this portal while exploring too with my warrior.
He is a factions warrior, never been to the arid sea before, the furthest he has been is augury rock but not set a foot outside there. I do own prophecies.

I have done this quest with my Rit, so you can be another character then Tyrian.
But my Rit has been in the Arid Sea before.
So I can't tell if that is a prerequisite to be able to do this quest.

You have to have either visited the Arid Sea before or have Ascended in Tyria, I'm not sure which. My ranger who has completely cleared Prophecies was able to use it fine.

Once you have tamed the Jujundu worms in desolation in elona, and also got to the desert, only having arrived in amnoon oasis, you can then use this teleporter as normal.

Ive taken my paragon through it a few times to test it

I came back through with Lina & Alesia to give them a "Grand Day Out"

I stumbled into this quest and took the teleporter over to Arid Desert. I was really excited because I'd heard of this but didn't know the outcome. I was somewhat disappointed when it turned out to be pretty much like any other quest. I was hoping for something new but it's just a quest you start in Elona and finish in Tyrian desert.
