Errr, so how can you tell if you are Ascended?

I mean the air isn't all glowy and birds aren't singing. Kidding aside, here's the background.

I started playing Guild Wars: Prophecies a month ago, I have since started playing Factions and Nightfall.

My Tyrian character has done Missions up to Aurora Glade and has also recently completed Closer to the Stars Mission.

Is my Tyrian Character Ascended?

I can't tell, I am assuming, but nothing in-game says it.

Well, in the meantime, I guess I will walk around with confidence and fake it, if I must.

The only place you need to be ascended is for UW/FOW, and you can't fake it there, the game won't let you in. As a general rule, once you can change secondary profession you're ascended, except in Tyria where the story tells you when you've ascended. Becoming closer to the stars is the Chanthan version of ascension.

So, completing Closer to the Stars Mission (no masters) = Ascended?

Woohoo! I'm Ascended!

You are ascended in Cantha.

You get ascended when you complete three missions in Crystal Desert and then beat your doppleganger. When you complete Nahpui Quarter mission (after Closer to the Stars) you 'ascend' in Cantha. That's not the real word, but people use it because it's basically the same thing as ascension in Tyria.

However, if you want access UW and FoW from Temple of Ages, you have to be ascended in Tyria. And if you want to access FoW and UW from Zin Ku Corridor you have to beat Nahpui Quarter.

OK, I hereby set forth a petition requesting a Universal Ascension system for Guild Wars and it's outlying districts! j/k

OK, makes sense...seemed fairly easy to boot. Now, watch me struggle miserably in Tyria.

That's incorrect, if you're ascended in one continent you count as ascended no matter where you go, my Canthan monk is only ascended in Cantha, but can still access the realms from Tyria.

@Dark Angle: I'm not 100% sure, but I think if you complete the Building The Base quests you become ascended, that's when you can change secondary profession anyway

I'm not sure if they fixed it, but couple weeks before Nightfall was launched a lot of people said that their Canthan characters can't access UW from ToA and it said they weren't ascended.

Ya, I remember hearing that too. But, I was under the impression that one Ascension was all you needed per char to access different places.
