Personally I think you need to look at this thing objectively which is what everyone else here is doing. You get people who take it seriously and you get the I'm wielding a Fiery LEETZOR HAXZORIOXZOR of Fortitude people.
IMO customization should make a Furious Gladius of Fortitude into Pan Gammon's Gladius etc.........

i do agree it would be an ace idea, but i also agree you will get those annoying spammers, perhaps they could add an anti spam thing for weopons, like u can only say its equiped 1 every 30 seconds or so, they would reduce it quite a bit but it wouldnt stop the problem, banning some preset names or parts of names would but i dont know its thats something Anet could do.

Lets not give the jack @sses in the game something else to spam the crap out of while in game.
It's bad enough that everyone spams their weapon set in game, can you imagine the heathens naming their weapons "Up in Ya", "I put my Schwartz", "You Suxxors", "My 1337 Longsword of Pwnage" and then having the children draw genitilia on the minimap while spaming their weapon sets and getting something like You suxxors, my l337 londsword or pwnage, while I put my schwartz up in ya!

what if they got rid of the call my weopon ability since now taht u can call builds its of no real use cause u can tell a persons weopon type generally by there build the only thing the call my weopon feature does is allow people to show off there green weopons, speaking highly generalised there ofc. But that would allow this interesting feature to work nicly wouldnt it?

Why not instead of allowing people to completely name their weapons themselves, allow them to choose from a list of words and prefixes and stuff. So someone could name their sword like "Corrupted Spatha of Justice." Maybe also allow people to put their name in front of the weapon, giving something like "X Sparticus X's Corrupted Spatha of Justice."
