Anet: Nerfing the drops has to stop

No Inherent Effect [NiE]

This is not another whine rant about the new ai system, but about the drop rates. I don't mind that foes run away. But they should still carry their loot.

Anet is going throug great lenghts to stop people getting what they should be getting for they're effort. I brought my war through elona (prot. of elona ftw), and now working on my Ranger. I must say 90% of the the time the chest i open with hero's + henchies is Yurple (also known as stupid purple). This has gotten my annoyed, but still I play.

On occation I like to farm ( if you can call it that, because farming get's you stuff ) in elona for greens. But do they drop? (Retorical question ). and yes I Farm solo 1/8. Now this pisses me of but still I Play.

Just now I did 3 almost full N/mo solo UW runs, which now is a) More difficult because SB is nerfed. b) The new ai update is real fr cking annoying on a group of 5 smites. (takes 5 to 10 mins to take out a group). Apart from being already a difficult run. And how many ecto's do I get. You guessed it, 0!!!!

I like playing my chars through the game, but now and then I like to farm. Not only for the money and drops, but for the fun of getting them. But al this fun is Royale spoiled by the new ai / drop system.

So Anet Please Give us Back the normal drop ratio.

/signed

Ps Please don't start about that you shouldn't be farming in the first place. Because Only playing guildwars to get chars through Missions \ Titles or pvp
is nonsence. I that were true, it would take you hours on hours of normal playing just to get something nice. And in nice I mean a good skinned weapon (not a colletors one), 15K armor or Fow armor. No I (and the most of gw players) don't want collector's armor.

I believe they've stated that they are aware of a possible problem in the drop rates, and are looking into what the cause is.

So I solo farm a green boss, and... I get the green drop within 10 runs, with the exception of one or two times. The drop rates are fine in my opinion.

hi all
they will never do it cause we allready buy the game, so we have to live by there rules...

I belive they want hopefull and unhappy peps that continue to play the game ( i do ) but if you dont play they dont mind because your money is allready in is hands in my case: 5 games divided in 2 accounts ;2 extra slots and 2 pvp packs...

So i continue to play cause some of friends are ingame and i have now in diferent away to play the game, play for laugh of the drops/chests (the silly purples and golds) monks droping swords; warrios droping wands and sometimes I question myself '' here the mobs put the stuff the bring in there hands?´'' like killing a sree that beat you with a fellblade and i never seen one droping for me...chaos axes? never in 1 year of play a decent one droped for me, but how cares...?

i allways played with henchies all campains and now also with heros and i allways think that the henchies get all the good stuff ( mhenlo and alesia are the richer and the dumbest ''peps'' i know ingame)

i sign the request to be kind with the OP... you are not alone, we are togheter in the sink hole..

love the Sunspear phrase "never fight alone" but some days you just want chill out and rip through some monsters. I love (and still do) the IDS runs. The snow up there is so peaceful.

Even from my own playing time everyday I've noticed the drops suck and I even agree with what was said when I was in that outpost.

Why does everyone look upon Anet as an "evil" company? Anet made the game that is sucking our lives away, people.

Drop rates were decreased because, let's face it, there's too much effing gold in the economy. Don't believe me? Go look at the auctions. Before the farming nerf, a SWORD (Brute Sword, req 9, 15^50, 20/20, +30 I think) was going for 2 and a half million.

But I've not experienced any decrease in gold drops actually... more of an increase. I've gotten 2 superior vigors since the release of NF, and i've gotten more radiant insignias than I can count.

I got a green today and got 1 last week from normal questing. I had 0 that way in Factions for 6 months. Drops seem to be better to me.

Six greens in just under two hours of playing. Also four dye drops, one of which was black, one of which was white, and a large number of golds/purples.

Drop rates seem fine to me.

I'm sure all of you realize that probably not a single one of you has enough drop data to make a statistically relevant claim about the drop rates. Posting stuff like, "drop rate is broken" or "drop rate is okay" based on your personal experience is completely meaningless.

I don't think it's a lack of greens/rares/purples etc dropping it's the simple fact that alot of the items aren't max damage or defense.

How can you explain a lvl 28 monster hitting you for over 120 damage to drop a 13-18 sword when you kill it? Thats my beef and a lot of other players. I remember back when prophecies first came out alot of the high end areas (Uw, FoW) were bugged and dropped mostly non-max weapons and shields and was fixed later on. Yes you got max weapons occasionally, but not as often as you should have at that time. ( most players won't even remember that since they weren't even around at that time and/or knew about solo UW and FoW.)

The amount of garbage that comes out of these chests is a problem as well. I used to be a chest running fanatic, IMO it's not even worth it unless you're going for the title. And yes someone is going to respond back with "the omg I got a perfect ( insert your popular item of the day here) from a so and so chest," you don't know wtf you're talking about.

People get lucky there's your answer to your response so I don't have to waste time re-typing.

Exactly and in the pic above I posted the drop suck becuase MANY of them ARE NOT MAX Dmg/Def and many people have to goto CH1 & ch2 to have a better chance getting max stuff and to pimp out the heros with wepaons etc.

Plus this isn't the only thread where the players are saying the same thing

I like how the OP says that the nerf to drop rates has to stop but never says why. Seems to me you are complaining about rare items actually being rare...hehe. Oh and btw, I've gotten my first greens naturally (as in from bosses, not bought) EVER (including Sorrow's Furnace) twice in a row while mapping the Sulfurous Wastes - and I was in a group of 3 heroes and 4 henchies. So no, the drop rates were nerfed terribly but the chest rates have been but even then, its for the better. Maybe now gold items can actually be rare....

Anet didn't nerf the drop rate, they just gave us what we wanted, more cash right? well of course we get crappy drops but we get more of them, which means more cash, does it not? we got what we want, but it might not have been the way we wanted it

The majority of us don't have the room in our inventories to waste on picking up low defense shields, and way below max damage weapons while going through High end areas. Nowadays I rarely even pick up purple items. Call me crazy or spoiled idc. I'm not asking for rare crystallines and dwarvens to fall from the sky. I could care less about that, to me it's about the hunt and pleasure of finding something I want for a character rather then spam for hours "wtb****," and have to deal with some greedy 9 year olds who's parents buy him ebay gold/ectos to shut them up.

All these junk drops might be a godsend for the newer players with no cash. Those of us that have been at it for 3 chapters now aren't impressed. The only reason people play PVE is for the items, armor, and skills. Of course the skills and armor are pretty much given to you, the item skins aren't. So now in order to get something that you want for your character you either have to blow out your savings, or farm many times longer to achieve what would normally not take as long pre-nerf bomb.

I'll say it again, More grind with less reward.

They included things such as titles, nice Skinned Weapons, 15k armor, FoW armor, but then, make sure that people get worst drops when the continously farm, nerfed chests (seriously, 25 opened gave me 2 golds, rest where purple) Nerfed Green Drops / The more you farm, the less you get.

then they complain that people are going out on eBay, Jee, I wonder why there is a market for it. (I never eBayed)

Sure I understand that all of this is to stop the mass 100 bot with 100 machines mass farming business, but its hurting players A LOT more.

I wonder what would happen if we, all of us on Guru, just suddently did not play GW for 3 days to a week, didn't even sign on. That might have an impact, probably not, but it would scare them. Allthought its a lot more fantasy then anything else right now, untill its actually brought together.

Could just be bad luck, but I used to ettin farm and load up with purple and rare pauldrons (25 or so) in two runs. Last several times I tried I've been lucky if I get a half dozen purple and *maybe* one rare. Add to this that the mergoyle and skale NEVER stop chasing you (which makes the farming run a lot longer as you have to take the time to kill them). Seems to me that something has been changed, and just when I wanted to pick up some nice runes for my heroes. Oh well

Recent reports indicate that, in order to capitalize upon the increased tensions in Elona, a few less-than-honorable merchants were planning to flood the market with rare items. These items were to be sold to the highest bidder—with no concern about the purchaser's intentions. The resulting influx of weapons would have been a boon to the forces of light, but it also would have had the unfortunate consequence of supplying powerful tools of war to those who wish to plunge Elona into darkness.

The planned market manipulation was under investigation by Vabbian officials, who were attempting to reach a compromise with the merchants to ensure their businesses continued to flourish while the safety of the region was protected. Unfortunately, during these talks, a fierce army of heket and harpy soldiers laid siege to the large warehouse being used to store these items. Priests from the Grand Court of Sebelkeh came upon the ruins as well as the charred remains of the valiant soldiers who laid down their lives protecting their princes' wares. Unfortunately, the priests arrived too late to save any of the fallen guards or the wealth of weapons the soldiers had been assigned to protect. The pillaging of the warehouse greatly shifted the balance of the current conflict in Elona to favor those pledged to Abaddon. Valiant citizens and soldiers, determined to prevent the return of the fallen god, are scrambling to reclaim as many of these weapons as possible in order to turn them against his evil demon hordes.

With so many rare items spread across Elona, those combating the forces of darkness have detected a marked increased in the chance to come across these valuables, as the weapons are being dropped in death by the monsters who purloined them. Many predict that at the rate these items are being recovered, the numbers should return to normal within the next few days. This means that now is the time to search for rare items. May Lyssa bless you with luck, and may the Five Gods protect you.

lol can we close this please? The only reason this comes up is because people have seen this lin and others and say "OMG its NOT bad luck its happening!" Its not. A friend of mine got a green like every FOUR kills of a boss once in elona and also I'm getting quite a lot of golds.

well, again with the luck thing... I have taken 2 characters through nightfall completely and the only green I have gotten was a non-max on istan. The Fiery Gladius' that drop would be cool if max ones would ever drop.

I agree that it is very hard to justify a lvl 22+ dropping non-max equipment. and most of the time, not even close to max.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Shadow Ranger for saying that. Look, yet another thread is opened to moan and complain about the drop rates. You made a run in the Underworld and didn't get ectoplasm, big deal. You go to Fissue of Woe and don't get a shard of obsidian, big deal. This doesn't prove that Anet has a personal vendeta against what is dropped and how often it comes about.

I have made numerous trips to the Underworld and Fissue of Woe and not recieved anything. I have farmed for greens and done chest runs without getting what I wanted. That's life, thats gambling. It's all based on percentages. You don't win everytime, you can't win everytime. Just because you do a run or two and fail to get anything value doesn't mean ANet is out to get you. In gambling, the house sometimes takes it, but that doesn't mean it always wins. Next time we want to moan about how long it takes to kill a group of smites...don't.

I stepped at Vabbi some weeks ago.
There, I got 5k a day minimum. Not farming, not killing everything, just doing missions and quests in a 8/8 party and killing anything in my way.

Maybe you don't play the game the way it was meant to be played...

When I started in Elona, I had 180 elites, as many as you could get before Nightfall.
When I finished, I had 290, the top available tier.
In 109 bosses (plus many more incidental ones), I got ONE green, and that was on the very last assassin boss.

i'm okay with the drops. i get a green maybe once or twice a week from normal questing. golds drop more often.

when i farm for greens i never have to do more than about 7-8 runs (with heroes and friends mostly, sometimes henchies), which is more than fine by me for a *rare* drop. most of the time the green drops by the fifth run. but it could very well be a streak of good luck since i returned to the game about three weeks ago. who knows?

i don't mess with chests unless i get key drops from mobs, so not a lot to say about that. i don't expect much from them. salvage or sell.

You're not picking up your whites, blues, and purples, and you're complaining about money. I don't care how long you've been playing, you've missed the easiest way to make money: ID and sell everything to the merchant. You easily make a couple platinum an hour doing just normal questing like this. If you insist on waiting until you get a drop that you can use, rather than making money and buying it, don't be surprised when it takes you so much longer to get what you want.

Not only pick everything.

IDENTIFY everything.

A white common item sould in merchants for 40-60 can easily become 90-150 gold once identified.

Leave behind 10 whites and you are losing 1k!
